President’s Address

Hi everyone!

I hope each and every one of

you has been lecture bashing,

flier dropping, sharing posts

on Facebook and doing

whatever you can to recruit

EPs for winter realisations!

Please keep pushing this

recruitment, as it is very

important to our success as an

LC.

Over the weekend, Chad, Meryl

and I represented AIESEC

Curtin at the annual National

Leadership Development

Seminar (NLDS) in Sydney.

This 3 day national

conference is organised for all

leaders (EB and above) in

AIESEC Australia to provide

new insight into leadership,

share strategies between LCs

and provide input into

gfh

fgh

national strategies. We've all

learnt so much, and we can't

wait to share it all with you. :)

On that note, July Conference

registrations open on the 11th

of May! If you are looking for

your major AIESEC experience,

this is it. You really learn so

much and have more fun than

you can imagine! The

conference is in Queensland

from the 7th until the 12th of

July, so keep your schedules

open, and get ready to register.

I promise you, you won't regret

even a minute of it.

See you all at RCM on

Wednesday! Same room, 5.30

sharp :)

Love,

Your LCP

MAClet and Exchange News

Hey AIESEC!

As you know the exchange competition is running to boost the exchange

numbers for this semester. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has

participating and is still contributing to this. Both the MAC and OGX

team are working hard to get some exciting knew initiatives of the

ground so keep an eye out for that!

On a side note NLDS was amazing and I cannot wait until you all get

the chance to experience this environment for yourself. Remember

your AIESEC experience is only what you make of it, so take the chance to

challenge yourself and truly grow your leadership potential.

Cheers,

Meryl

BD Buzz Hello Guys!

Hope everyone is going great with busy University life! BD is

constantly working towards building a strong ICX pipeline and

we have some interest from few companies that we met in

the past week.

So far, Michael, Daniel and Laura have successfully arranged

their own meetings and have managed to do a fantastic job

at the meetings! We intend to keep moving actively in such

direction and maximize on number of sales meetings and

networking opportunities in order to achieve our ICX Raises.

This coming week, we 3 new accounts to have sales

meetings with so far and a great deal of work to be done in

following up with current ones.

Wish us all the best and see you all at RCM! :)

Exchange Competition!!

\

An exciting new initiative has been introduced and will be carried out in the next few weeks to push

winter exchange!

Everyone needs to get involved (That means ICX to) to help our LC achieve its goals for the semester.

So here is how it works –

You will compete in your home groups. As a group you will be performing different exchange

promotional activities to “earn points” for your home group! Your home group leaders (who are TM

members) will be tracking the progress of the home groups. Also every few days we will be sending out

the score boards for everyone to see how they are going and how many more point they need.

You can earn points by –

Adding your lecture into the database for lecture bashing purposes- https://docs.google.com/a/aiesec.net/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuHsiqgZqvG-dEYxQjFyZXVIb2lhZ1pEa0FaRkdWUUE#gid=1

5 points per Lecture (no overlaps so first come first serve)

Sharing AIESEC Curtin Facebook Posts 10 points per share

Referrals for Information sessions (Inviting people to attend and having them actually come)

20 points per attendee

Referrals for Exchange Applications (getting a friend to apply for winter exchange)

35 points per applicant

Flyer Drops (Collecting a bunch of flyer and putting them in lecture halls, The library or Abacus labs)

50 points per Area (Take pictures while doing flyer drops and tag AIESEC Curtin to earn 10 bonus points)

Volunteering at Stalls (Catarina has made the event page on Facebook. More times will be added for people to have opportunities to Volunteer for)

10 Pointes for each hour 10 Points for each sign up

Lecture Bash (Give it a go and take the opportunity to speak in front of a lecture to promote exchange)

A Massive 100 Points

The competition officially starts today Monday the 29th of April and finishes on Saturday the 18th of May

at 11.59pm.

Whichever home group gets the most points at by the 18th of May will win a massive $100 voucher to

Tips for Delivering Lecture Bashes

A Basic Example of Giving Speech in bashing lectures

“Hi everyone, I'm John. I'm from AIESEC, and we are an

international youth-driven organisation that provides you with

opportunities to go volunteer overseas. We have heaps of

projects happening, and you can go to countries like Poland,

Mauritius or Vietnam. Our projects can be as short as 6 weeks

and you can easily fit it in your uni holidays. So, if you really

want to push yourself our of your comfort zone, experience a

new culture and have the time of your life, check out our

website or come to our info sessions, which are happening next

week! Thanks guys, and I hope to see you next week!

THE BASICS OF GIVING A SPEECH

A. Know your Objective – “There is no point in making a speech

unless it accomplishes something.”

B. Structure the Message for the Ear – [In a few minutes], “the

message must get across now or never.”

C. Tailor Remarks to the Audience – Every speech is aimed at a

specific audience.

D. Give Specifics – Do not give vague statements.

E. Keep it Timely and Short – “Interesting...include up-to-date

facts and information.”

F. Gestures and Eye Contact – “gestures, posture and eye

contact can make or break a speech.”
