THE SOLAR ECLIPSE WITNESSBY HOLDEN HENRY HALL

The solar eclipse is a once a lifetime event since it happens sorarely for the moon to orbit in front of the sun. When this happens, it castsa shadow on the earth making it completely dark on the states in the pathof totality. The advised headwear to observe any solar eclipse acts areknown as Eclipse glasses. They provide very dark vision, to the point youcan’t see anything with them on, so you can witness the eclipse or you usea good old shoe box and suffocate in it from the smell or just looking in acheez-it box using the pinhole method.

I’m supposed to report on the differences between classes thatobserved the eclipse inside compared with those who went outside usingthe one of aforementioned methods. Starting with myself since we weren'tin the path of totality we didn't get darkness but halfway through themoon's path we started to realize it got a lot darker then when the moongot a full rout around it became very gray.

Let me tell you, South Carolina was stuffed with people wantingto see it, like Max Bright, who traveled to South Carolina to watch theeclipse. He said that they had reserved a whole entire picnic site all tothemselves so nobody else was allowed on the site; they were right in frontof the sun in a very open space. From there, they got to see the eclipsevery well and it became pitch black when the eclipse happened. Theyexplained that it was crazy.

They also said that the traffic was unbelievable and that theyfeared they would end up witnessing it from their car. Fortunately, theydidn't have to and the solar eclipse was a very fun time. It was a great timefor teachers to give a good lesson about this historical event as well. Howoften they happen and that some happen very rarely like, every 100 yearsor so. Some places had to witness the eclipse indoors instead of outdoors Itruly wonder if the teacher couldn't afford eclipse glasses or just didn't wantto risk their student not following directions and become blind to the pointthey would never see another lesson again.

In the path/line of totality in Louisiana at the tip they were playingcollege football game when the eclipse occurred. But when the eclipseoccurred the clouds blocked the sun so they couldn't witness the eclipseuntil the end, well I sure do feel sorry for them. That was a major milestoneto remember well I think this all I have to say about the eclipse. I hope youwere able to take away a memorable experience as well.
