    Minutes of AIDS Society of India - Annual General Meeting dated

    14-12-2013 held at Hotel Palladium, Mumbai

    The AGM of ASI was held at Hotel Palladium, Mumbai in conjunction with the 6th

    National Conference of ASI (ASICON 2013).The following ASI members were present

    at the AGM; which was presided over by ASI President Dr I S Gilada

    The following agenda was deliberated, the decision taken and resolutions passed:

    1. Dr. Gilada briefed the members of the current status activities of ASI.2. The minutes of last AGM held on 23-11-2012 at Bangalore were read by Dr

    Murugesh Pastapur and unanimously approved.3. The AY 2012-2013 audited accounts statement circulated among members and

    signed by two members and was approved unanimously.

    4. Dr.Gilada informed that ASI has saving of 57 lakhs and invested in FixedDeposits in Syndicate Bank and SVC Bank in Mumbai.

    5. ASI conducted National CME at Kolkata in June 2013, supported State-of TheArt in Medicine CME at Srinagar, Supported NESCON in Mumbai, supporting

    ALCHERINGA- IIT Festival in Guwahati as its Health Welfare partner.6. Dr Gilada requested Dr R R Gangakhedkar to return to the ASI Governing

    Council as the purpose he had resigned, being a fight in Supreme Court on

    NACOs high-handedness against HIV practicing physicians, is over. His request

    was seconded by Dr Mohanty & Dr Mathai. We welcome back Dr. Gangakhedkar

    to ASI GC, as he has been one of the Founding members of ASI.

    7. CME: Dr K C Mohanty suggested at least three programmes per year. Dr R RGangakhedkar suggested CME in low prevalence areas with involvement of

    API/IMA. Dr Alok Vashishtha suggested CME in low prevalence should be on

    HIV & Infectious Diseases. Dr Mohanty seconded and suggested the title shouldbe National CME or UPDATE.8. The ASI GB endorsed the decision of ASI GC held at Kolkata on 21 stJune on

    creating an Independent Earmarked ASI-CME fund headed by Dr. Gilada. This

    will safeguard the ASI funds from being subject to Income-Tax.9. Dr S K Guha suggested the CME amount to increase to one lakh in special

    situations. Dr.K C Mohanty seconded it and has been passed unanimously.

    10.Future CMEs: KochiDr Sajithkumar; Gaziabad- Dr Ruby Bansal; VizagDrSurya Rao; Mysore/JSSDr Mothi; HubliDr Sajjan; Hardwar/DehradunDrAlok; Kota-Dr Geeta Bansal with IMA/FOGSI.

    11.Dr Gangakhedkar suggested CME in ODISHA /GUJARAT.12.

    CME can be conducted by any ASI member.13.It has been decided to publish CME calendar and that DIPANJAN will be incharge of CME calendar.

    14.Dr Gilada suggested that ASI should at least start publishing E-Newsletter and DrGeorge Oomeen to be in charge of e-newsletter.

    15.Everybody appreciated the organization of ASICON 2013 and complimented theLocal Organising Committee. Dr Amar Pazare was felicitated by Dr Dilip Mathai

    on behalf of ASI GB.16.Dr.Dipanjan Bandyopadhyay, Dr.Alok Vashiasta and Dr. Ruby Bansal will

    continue as Adhoc GC members, for want of clear vacancy in GC.

    17.ASICON 2014 venue: After detailed deliberation it has been resolved that thenext ASICON be held at KOLKATTA. Dr Dipanjan discussed with Dr SukumarMukherjee and asked for a months time to confirm the same in consultation with

    the Govt. of West Bengal. As a backup KOCHI should be kept in mind. Proposed

    by Dr Amar Pazare and Dr Bhrushundi seconded it.18.It has been decided to expand ASI membership. Dr S K Guha suggested giving

    concession for ART officers. However, Dr. Gilada explained that membership

    amount is meager, Rs. 2000/- for life and has never been increased since theestablishment of ASI in the year 2000.

    19.Dr Alok suggested that ASI should be represented on NACO guidelines. DRGilada to contact SHRI OSCAR FERNANDES, Chairperson of Forum of

    Parliamentarians on HIV/AIDS.20.UK Fellowship of 2 doctors: The fellowship should be for 6 weeks+6 weeks at

    two different hospitals (Dr. Hiten Thaker and Dr. Jyoti Dhar respectively). The

    selection should be from quiz, oral and poster presentations followed by

    personalized interviews of the shortlisted candidates. Dr. Dilip Mathai and Dr.Sajithkumar to be incharge for this process from ASI.

    21.Dr Dilip Mathai suggested concept of amalgamation of all HIV/AIDSassociations.

    22.Dr Alok suggested ASI accreditations after training of DOCTORS

    23.Dr Dipanjan suggested FELLOWSHIP training in HIV/AIDS under ASI.24.Dr Prakash Bora suggested ASI-Textbook on HIV/AIDS. Dr Prakash Bora and Dr

    R Jerajani as Co-Editors.25.Dr Glory suggested ASI membersdairy.26.Possibility of ethics committee was discussed.The meeting ended with the vote of thanks to all ASI membersThis is perusal for all ASI members.
