    Chapter 5. Adjusting System Configuration

Usually, you do not need to run system configuration because the terminal doesmost configuration activities automatically. If there are any addressing conflicts, messages displayed during POST identify the conflicts. Enter Setupto correct any

configuration problems. You need to perform system configuration in the following cases:

v To change any serial port (COM) addresses or interrupt levels

v To start the terminal off a local area network (LAN)

v To change some of the addressing defaults

You can adjust configuration by entering Setupduring POST.

    Note:

For updates to the IBM 4614 SureOne Point-of Sale Terminal: Service Diskette, see Appendix B.

    Entering Setup

To enter Setup, pressF2when prompted during POST.

When you start the system configuration program, the first screen you see is theMainmenu. Many of these values are set by the program when you power on theSureOne. You can change the system date and time from this menu.

Using the arrow keys, select the option that you want to change. Press the Spacekey to change the value. If you want more help, press the F1key.

Press thePgDnkey to see the next screen of Setup.

The second screen is the COM Portsmenu. Use this menu to adjust COM portaddresses or interrupt levels.

Press thePgDnkey to see the last screen of Setup.

The third screen is the ASIC Optionsmenu. Use this menu to change the BOOTSourcefor the SureOne. BOOT SOURCESrefer to the order in which POSTlooks for a valid boot load. A standard PC looks first at drive A; then at drive C.Most PCs typically have no third start source. The SureOne does have a thirdoption since it can perform a remote program load (RPL) off of a LAN.

Go toChapter 4. Testing and Problem Analysis on page 37to test the SureOne ifyou change or adjust any addresses or interrupt levels.
