LAKE ELSINORE – Did Darron Peters do the impos-sible? I think so but you be the judge.

When you do something no one else has done or can do, is that doing the impossible? If you say yes, then Darron Peters did the impossible. Darron did something no one else in the Pins n Pockets 640 Scratch League has done or has demonstrated the ability to do.

SCOTT FILIPI, 640 Scratch League Secretary, wasn’t surprised. Scott knows bowling and knows how talented Darron is. Darron is a PBA Regional champion who has cashed in many PBA tournaments. Darron is a profes-sional.

Darron’s teammates and league rivals weren’t sur-prised. They know he is one of the most talented bowlers in the area.

So what did Darron do? Did he bowl 900? Was he the first bowler in the world to roll four perfect games in a row? No, No, No. He simply bowled a perfect 300! What?

What’s so special about that? Perfect games are rolled everywhere. Perfect games are rolled regularly. No big deal.

But, IT IS A BIG DEAL. Perfect games are seldom bowled at Pins n Pockets Lanes. A perfect game is bowled there once every year or so and never on the house’s “mod-ified house shot” or Challenge Shot! That is why roll-ing a perfect game on Pins n Pockets Challenge Shot is so special. So few can do it and until now no one has done it. Bowling a perfect game on the house’s Challenge Shot IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Darron Peters did the impossible. He rolled a perfect game on Pins n Pockets Challenge Shot!

BALTIMORE – Danny Wiseman, a 12-time PBA Tour champion and 2013 PBA Hall of Fame inductee, has been elected to the United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame along with former PWBA star Tennelle Milligan.

Wiseman, 50, won his only major title in the 2004 USBC Masters which was contested on specially-con-structed lanes in the infield of Miller Park in Milwaukee. It was the first championship bowling event ever held in a major league baseball stadium. He will be inducted during ceremonies as part of the USBC Annual Meeting at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nev., on April 25.

History is recorded by tHinkers and doers. tHe bowling news is blessed by Having so many contributers tHat love our sport

and take time to report tHe news or sHare a tHougHt. we tHank you! and look forward to 2018

Let’s take a look backwards 40 years. Many changes — innovations — have taken place. We will spotlight what seemed important at the time. And away we go!• EARL ANTHONY was THE man to watch, cheer for and immulate. He dominated all 52 issues in 1978, Need I say more? • San Diego’s LEE TAYLOR started the year with back to back 290’s. His career is one to be proud of.• When the Bowling Hall of Fame was scheduled to be moved from St. Louis, 19 cities put in their bid. A few prospects were Akron, Detroit, Memphis, San Diego and Toledo. When land was donated in Arlington, Texas, the deal was made.• MICKEY COLLETTI was known as “Mr. Blue Chipper” because he was THE stamp seller. Between stamps and Junior Bowlers he joined “million miles club”. What a guy!• KTT had clubs in San Diego Area, San Francisco Area and Los Angeles Area. Ten Dollar fine for not wearing a KTT shirt.• 8457 readers received Bowling News by mail. Every bowling center got 100 copies for their patrons. • MARK ROTH took home $15,000 and a giant 4 foot trophy for his PBA win at GABLE HOUSE.• Orange County had 28 centers and more to come. (And go) They had their own tourna-ment club. Don’t know who was in charge.• Yikes, another tournament club appeared, THE GRADED BOWLING ASSOCIATION. There were so many rules and options, they didn’t fit on a full page. Needed proof of aver-age for NO-TAP!• Christmas Club Leagues became popular; started in January and prize fund was paid out the first of December. I believe there are still a couple around.• AL FREITAS and MITZI ANDERSON were hired for the top jobs at JAVA LANES. I think MITZI lasted in the bowling business the longest.• BILL TAYLOR’S seminars and BILL himself were controversial. He was declared a ge-nius by some and a lunatic by others. His theory of gyroscopic inertia was a mystery to most “experts.’’• Bowlers of the Year were MARK ROTH and BETTY MORRIS. Both used Columbia Yellow Dots.• FOREST LANES was listed as being in El Toro, when it was really in Lake Forest.• CWBA welcomed OLA BRAHEME, BETTY MIVELAZ and DORIS RUDELL to the Hall of Fame.• STAN SCHREIER was the Southeast District Bowling Assn. Secretary. He was tough on rules. Ask GLENN ALLISON. • The weekly “HOT POT’’ No-Tap at GRAND CENTRAL was born. 5 games. All side-pots and series were guaranteed! 240 spots sold out weekly for 8 months at $20.00 per entry.• Mayor TOM BRADLEY declared February 14, 1978 Los Angeles’ bowling day.• Question ? What the heck was a “synchopacer”? The big ad led you to believe it would perfect your bowling style. I never did figure out what it was! Wear it on your belt or put in your pocket? • Wheelchair bowler WALLY GORDON, bowling in paraplegic league at ROCKET BOWL rolled a record breaking 615. He averaged 160 in league. • DICK WEBER was competing on the tour when his sons joined the P.B.A. and started bowling against him.• San Gabriel Valley ‘s MARY ALPINE shot a 211 triplicate.• BILL BETTS seemed to be every where. He wrote stories, took pictures, reported scores and topped off the week with a 300 of his own at GABLE HOUSE. (their 3rd in 18 years) using a Yellow Dot drilled by TIM ALBIIN.• A beautiful new center in Laguna HIlls was LA HACIENDA DE LOS BOLEROS. The

1978 - PART 1Mexican motiff was amazing. Location was a problem. Too many senior citizens in the area. Lousy acess from the freeway and their owners didn’t have a clue. The disappearing act was speedy.• KEVIN HICKS and THOMAS BARTSCH won new 1978 Chevys in the Blue Chip Stamp roll-off.• CHICK HEARN was guest star at the Grand Opening of WEST COVINA LANES on April 1st. Owners? The Brutocao Brothers. They also owned COVINA BOWL (recently closed) and ANAHEIM BOWL.• The 975 Classic League at COLUMBIA BOWL in Duarte had a league sheet that looked like the who’s who’s of bowling in So. Calif. Here are a few to shake your memory; ART GODDARD, MIKE BONTA, KEN FOLEY, JIM MORRIS, CURT JONES, MIKE FISSLER, BOB ZEITZ, KEN MOSLEY, BOB PRESTON, BOB BURKE, DENNIS WEAVER, KENNY BAYER, ELMER BLAESING, ALEX CORTES, and my favorite DAVE PRECHTL. (He’s still knocking ‘em down.)• PACIFIC LANES gimmick for the summer of ‘78 was the possibility of winning a new car.• COLUMBIA BOWL was a favorite in the San Gabriel Valley. The name DENNIS WEAVER popped up. He had a record in the bowling world. I believe he had 67 3 game series of 600 and better in a row. Right or Wrong??• ROMAN AGIERT won the 25th annual Grant Classic.• Editors Note about the Editor - - - I won A DIVISION ALL EVENTS (San Gabriel Valley) at LA PUENTE LANES. My check amounted to $14.00. I probably spent it in the coffee shop. Everybody loved the food, cooks and waitresses. What was your favorite coffee shop? HOLIDAY BOWL was another favorite.• Seven Californians bowled the Firestone; LARRY LAUB, BILL COLEMAN, JAY ROB-INSON, TOM WRIGHT, TIM HARASHAN , DAVE FRAME, and DALE GLENN. You had to have a title to participate. $10,000 for a win was big money.• A story was written about “scorekeepers“; the person with the yellow pencil. 70% of bowlers didn’t know how to keep score so thousands of seniors and juniors were put to work. The average pay for 3 games was $1.00 per person. When automatic scoring came along, the personal touch was gone. BUT, also gone was gossip, complaining about the air conditioning, smoke, and jealousy.• I wish everyone would write me a rememberance of FRANK DE MASCIO. What a char-acter! All of his help was afraid of him. He acted like he was the Mafia head. He built an empire on bull ___!• Congrats to BRUCE HARNER, BOWLING SQUARE’S wonder. He posted 249, 279, 279/807. I believe he holds the record for picking up 7-10 splits! Who keeps track?? Jb bowling supply of Henderson, nevada is looking to add a full time ball driller to its teamThis is an opportunity to join Nevada’s largest pro shop. You will work along side Jon Burroughs and Paul Renteria daily, servicing one of the biggest markets on the west coast. Please contact Jon Burroughs to arrange an interview at 702-567-0749. Experience is a must, pay based on experience.

Girls scratch singles came down to the final frame, as a tenth frame open proved to not hurt champion Maranda Pattison, Redwood Hills CA, who beat Crystal Elliott, Melbourne FL, 187-179 for the title and $1,500 scholar-ship windfall, while Elliott settled for $1,000 for runner-up. 12 year-old Kaitlynn Yukihiro tried for the singles sweep for the golden state, but Kristy Mace, Vail AZ, won four matches in the finals including a 224-208 win over Kaitlynn in the finale, to win the handicap singles and whopping $2,500 top prize. Yukihiro, Yorba Linda CA, earned $1,500 for the second place performance.

For the second straight year a boy-girl team earned the scratch doubles title, as JR Mehlum’s tournament high 801 series carried him and Saralyne Nassberg to the win and $1,000 top prize. Washington bowlers Jacob Frazier and Lailani Wallin captured the handicap doubles crown with a 1433 total and $1,000 as well, the only team to crack 1400 in the division.

Salama also shot one of the event’s five 300 games, joined by two-time defending champ Wesley Low, and JBT stars TJ Rock, Jacob Mullen, and Deo Benard, each earning $100 bonuses from both JBT sponsor MSC Inc and South Point. JBT’s title sponsor Ebonite awarded balls during each singles block, and our other terrific spon-sors and vendors were integral in helping award the very large scholarship total.

Huge thanks to everyone who took the time to partici-pate in the biggest event on the JBT calendar. We hope to see you and many new faces that you tell about us at the 2018 JBT Main Event, December 26-30 2018 at the South Point Plaza!

field of 26 Bowlers/Cash-ers taking to the lanes for 3 games. Beat the Board is where you finish is where you will cash!!

Game 1 Keith Nahan took the lead with a huge 269/305 and was followed by Romeo Borillo 234/278, Sol Cericos 233/268, Floyd Toro 227/267, and Ricardo Baca 196/250. Mr. Nahan had the lead and won the first sidepot!

Game 3 saw Floyd Toro score big 249/289, Nahan

236/272, Borillo 221/265 Cericos 207/241 and Baca fell 137/191. It was amaz-ing that the top 5 bowlers remained that way for the 3 games. I can’t remember this ever happening??

BURBANK – I apologize for scores missed during my small hiatus but hopefully I am back on track!

December 28, 2017, Pickwick lost a great bowler, past secretary & friend. You will be missed Ray Moriarity. I will cherish the time I had with you. Until next time…keep the ball rollin’!

A very dear friend of mine, Adolf Noce, who hap-pens to be 97 years old, has regained his footing on the lanes. This past Wednes-day while bowling with his friends, Adolf rolled a 216. It isn’t his first, nor will it be his last, but Adolf has fought hard to get here.

I’ve had the pleasure of Adolf’s company and bowl-ing wisdom for many years. I first met him when I be-came the Youth Program di-rector at Pickwick. Adolf was a volunteer coach at the time and I valued his participation. As time went on, I became aware of the wonderful man that he is and our friendship grew.

A few years ago, the love of his life, Annie (as he called her) became very ill and was hospitalized. Adolf would dili-gently & lovingly go to visit until he, himself, had a severe stroke and was hospitalized as well. Unfortunately, Annie passed while Adolf was fighting to regain control over his body. It broke my heart.

Adolf first returned to Pickwick in a wheel chair and we were all so happy to see him out & about as best he could at the time. Months later he attempted bowling again. The scores were not as he would have liked but he never gave up, coming every week to practice with his ‘cronies’. This Wednesday’s game of 216 is a culmination of my deter-mined & dedicated friend’s passion for the sport.

If & when I get to 97 years of age, I can only hope…Congratulations, Adolf! You are an inspiration to us all.

I CAN ONLY HOPE…by Tish

en’s divisions during the 2017 season with each division competing in a separate stepladder final.

Heading into the ninth frame of the drama-filled men’s championship match with a 10-pin lead, No. 3 qualifier and last year’s third-place finisher Marshall Kent of Ya-kima, Wash., failed to convert a 10 pin spare leaving the door open for a Belmonte win in the 10th.

In the 10th, Belmonte closed with a 267 game forcing Kent to strike to tie the match. Kent came through with a pressure-filled solid pocket hit to also close with 267 forcing a sudden-death roll-off. Belmonte won the roll-off with a strike in the first frame to Kent’s eight-count after he left the 2-8.

“Yeah, I was worried,” said Belmonte referring to Kent’s fast start with the first five strikes in a row. “For-tunately, after the spare in the first frame I was able to put five strikes together to get back in the match and then it was like anything could happen at that point.”

For Belmonte, it was his second consecutive WSOB IX win after his recent milestone PBA World Championship win on ESPN for a record third major win of the season and ninth of his career.

“It’s a unique feeling the pressure you feel to get a strike when it comes down to one shot after you’ve trav-elled the world to get to this point,” Belmonte added. “The pressure you feel to get a strike was like the inside of your body wanting to be on the outside.”

In the semi-final match, Kent advanced to the cham-pionship match with a 231-224 win over No. 2 qualifier Jesper Svensson of Sweden, who finished second to Bel-monte in the World Championship.

In another tightly contested title match, Zavjalova beat two-time defending champion Danielle McEwan of Stony Point, N.Y., 235-232, to win the women’s final.

With the match even in the fifth frame, McEwan opened in the sixth after missing a 1-2-4-10 washout giving Zav-jalova a 25-pin lead. However, McEwan was able to come back and overtake Zavjalova with an eight-pin lead after striking in the seventh, eighth and ninth frames while Zav-jalova could only manage spares in those frames.

With the match coming down to the 10th, Zavjalova finished with a strike to post her 235. Needing a strike to win, McEwan left a solid 10 pin handing the win to Zav-jalova.

“I didn’t feel comfortable in the middle of the game, but that’s going to happen now and then,” said Zavjalova, who was competing in her first WBT final. “I just had to deal with what was in front of me and hope it was good enough to win.” “When Danielle put those three strikes together at the end of the game I thought I had lost the match,” she added. “After I struck in the 10th it was out of my hands at that point—whatever happens, happens. It was just my day today.”

In the semifinal, McEwan defeated international stand-out Shalin Zulkifli of Malaysia 244-231 to advance to the title match.WORLD BOWLING TOUR FINALSPresented by PBANational Bowling Stadium, Reno, Nev.(aired Jan. 7 on ESPN)Women’s Finals1, Diana Zavjalova, Latvia, $12,500.2, Danielle McEwan, Stony Point, N.Y., $7,500.3, Shalin Zulkifli, Malaysia, $5,000.First match: McEwan def. The 2018 PBA League draft, originally scheduled for Monday, Feb. 12, is moving to Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Woodland Bowl. The draft, which will fill vacan-cies on all eight PBA League teams, will be live streamed on PBA’s Xtra Frame online bowling channel.

Here’s a revised summary of how the 2018 PBA League draft will work:

i. ● Each team manager will protect up-to three players from their 2017 roster according to the follow-ing deadlines. Protected players for each team will be announced on the following Monday: the Dallas Strikers (manager Norm Duke) and Portland Lumberjacks (Tim Mack) will select their protected players by Sunday; Sil-ver Lake Atom Splitters (Mark Baker) and Philadelphia Hitmen (Jason Couch) by Jan. 14; LA X (Andrew Cain) and NYC Kingpins (Carolyn Dorin-Ballard) by Jan. 21 and the Motown Muscle (Del Ballard Jr.) and Brooklyn Styles (Johnny Petraglia) by Jan. 28.

ii. iii. ● The final roster spots will be filled during the

2018 PBA League draft on Saturday, Feb. 17, at Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis, site of the Go Bowling! PBA 60th Anniversary Classic. Xtra Frame will cover the draft live.

iv. v. ● The draft order will be in reverse order of fin-

ishing positions in 2017 for both rounds (No. 8 Brooklyn will select first followed by Motown, NYC, L.A., Phila-delphia, Silver Lake, Portland and Dallas. There will not be a “serpentine” reverse order this year.

vi. ● Players eligible to be drafted will consist of the top 75 PBA players on the PBA Tour/WBT earnings list for 2017 plus 2018 events through the PBA Tournament of Champions, which ends Feb. 11. Note that players from 2017 teams left off the protected list will not be automati-cally eligible; they must be on the top 75 earnings list to be eligible. The eligibility list will be published on Monday, Feb. 12, and those players must then declare for the draft by Thursday, Feb. 15.

It’s a Trifecta for Forest Lanes in the Fab 5

LAKE FOREST – Call it the home-lanes advantage.A team from Forest Lanes claimed the 2017 Fab 5 state bowling tournament championship,

winning the title decisively at its home bowling center in the Orange County city of Lake Forest. The fivesome of Jon Diso, Jessica Diso (Jon’s wife), Mele Cardoso, Kevin Valmonte and Tarika

Onishi earned the top seed for the three-team stepladder finals and then defeated the representative from Jewel City in Glendale, 457-404, in the championship match.

It marked the third Fab 5 championship in as many years for a Forest Lanes team. The two Disos, along with Virgil Dunziellas, Robert Leahy and Brent Illagan, earned the title in 2015 at Keystone Lanes in Norwalk.

Valmonte was part of the winning Forest Lanes team in 2016 at Bowlium Lanes in the San Bernardino County city of Montclair.

The 2017 tournament, sponsored by the Bowling Proprietors’ Assn. of America, took place Dec. 10. Qualifying for the tournament finals was held at various bowling houses around Southern California in the preceding two months.

Eight teams earned a spot in the tournament finals at Forest Lanes. After bowling 10 games, three teams qualified for the stepladder finals. Jewel City in Glendale advanced to the champion-ship match with top-seeded Forest Lanes by defeating Fountain Bowl, 431-372, in the first match. The score represented the total pins from a two-game showdown.

Jewel City carved out a huge cushion against Fountain Bowl by winning the first game, 243-163, and Fountain Bowl couldn’t make up the deficit despite a 209-188 victory in the second game.

Jewel City got the upper hand on top-seeded Forest Lanes in the stepladder championship match by squeaking out a 193-188 victory in the first game. But Forest Lanes bowlers turned in a virtuoso effort in the second game, winning, 269-211, and the $1,000 top prize.

Jewel City earned $500 for its second-place performance.Asked how he celebrated another Fab 5 title for a Forest Lanes team, Jon Diso laughed and said,

“I celebrated by working the rest of the evening.”Diso, the general manager of Forest Lanes, served as a fill-in the day of the finals because the

original member of the qualifying team, Dave Yamauchi, was unable to bowl because of a previous commitment.

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Professional Women’s Bowling Association star Diana Zavjalova of Lat-via, winner of Sunday’s ESPN-televised World Bowling Tour Women’s Finals presented by the PBA, has joined the H5G player staff, H5G President Todd Molbeck announced Monday.

The 26-year-old Zavjalova, winner of the 2013 and 2017 United States Bowling Congress Queens in addition to a third PWBA title in Welch, Minnesota plus a Professional Bowlers Associa-tion Regional title in Kokomo, Indiana in 2015, will join a growing team of bowling superstars in representing H5G in competition and promotional events around the world.

“I could not be more excited to be a part of High 5 gear team,” said Zavjalova, who now makes her home in Austin, Texas. “H5G has hands down the best prod-uct in sports and I can’t wait to proudly represent High 5 all over the world. It’s going to be an awesome year!”

Zavjalova, who has been a member of Latvia’s national women’s team since age 9, has earned gold medals for her na-tive country in European Youth and Women’s Bowling Cham-pionships, and was a star with Webber International during her collegiate years, winning the 2015 Intercollegiate Singles Championship and helping Webber win the women’s Intercol-legiate Team Championship, also in 2012.

With H5G, she joins a team that includes PWBA stars Liz Johnson, Shannon O’Keefe, Danielle McEwan, Stefanie John-son, Katie Zwiefelhofer, Lindsay Boomershine, Elysia Current, Jennifer Petrick Higgins and three-time USBC Senior Queens titlist Lucy Sandelin. H5G’s male staff includes Professional Bowlers Association champions Sean Rash, Tommy Jones, E.J. Tackett, Kyle Troup, Wes Malott, Parker Bohn III, Jesper Svens-son and Francois Lavoie, and rising stars Ryan Zagar, AJ John-son and Brent Boho.

Molbeck said when H5G was founded that a key goal was to change the image of bowling by giving the sport a cool, con-temporary and professional look.

“Adding dynamic young players like Diana Zavjalova reaf-firms our goal and is part of our continuing investment in the sport,” Molbeck said.

H5G, originally known as High 5 Gear, is an enthusiastic and committed partner of the PBA, PWBA, PBA/PWBA Xtra Frame Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles Cham-pionship, Petersen Classic and a number of youth and charity events.

H5G also has initiated special incentive programs to provide custom-designed, high-quality apparel to collegiate and high school teams, as well as America’s millions of league bowlers. DOWNEY — It wasn’t pretty, but it was enough as Threadworks moved into 1st place in Round 5 by sweep-ing past The Professional Approach 5-0. The US Open pat-tern was playing especially tough tonight as most teams struggled. Paul Varela led the charge to the top, as he fired a very nice 604 series to lead the sweep. Danny Ly led Power House Video Games to a sweep of their own, as they took down Blizz Yogurt 5-0. Danny shot 625, while Greg Neuer led Blizz with 581. Team DV8 is once again in contention for the round lead, as Sam Hitchcock winged his way to 242/623 and led DV8 to a 4-1 win over Linder Insurance.

Linder was paced by Kurt Arakaki 592 and Kevin Val-monte 591. In the best scoring match of the night, Pino’s Pizza prevailed 3-2 as they held off Alhambra Coin Center to win Team Totals by 13. Both teams bowled well, finishing as #1 and #2 scoring teams for the night, and their pair was 250 pins higher than any other two teams combined scoring for a pair. Leading the way for Pino’s was Ramon Torres 627 & Leonard Ruiz 600, while Alhambra was led by Doug Kempt 660 & Steve Gaucin 608. Herzog Insurance took a 4-1 win over the PJ-less Los Altos Trophies team as Mikey Villarreal shot 625 for the winners, while Top Dog for the night went to Los Altos’ Buddy Lucas with a very fine 670.

In the roll off team matches, it was Erickson Foods once again losing the first two games, only to come back strong in Game 3 and not only win the game, but Team Totals. Er-ickson pulls within 2.5 games of holding the #1 seed with the 3-2 win, as nobody managed to shoot 600 series, Herbert

Jones led the way for Keystone Lanes with 589, while Jason Buenviaje shot 563 for Ericksons. Charlie Kinstler shot 614 to lead SYSCO to a 5-0 sweep of Forest Lanes who strug-gled all night to catch SYSCO. Mason Man O’Lantern Sher-man topped Forest with 589. American Harvest Vodka out shot CASAMIGO’S Tequila and won 4-1 as Kevin Jones rolled 588, while Vernon Adams topped the Tequila team with 565. Mike Jennings shot 594 to lead Tifco Industries to a 4-1 win over BOWLIUM, who had the pair’s high series, Craig Stevens with 623. Matt Mosley powered his way to 255 & 638 to lead Cook’s Bowling Supply to a 5-0 sweep over J.A.T. DeeRonn Booker led the Junior Amateur Tour team with 549. In the final pairing, it was GJC Services win-ning 3 points as Juan Zavala topped his squad with 511.

Sidepot winners were Game 1 – Sam Hitchcock 242 Game 2 –Jason Buenviaje 226 however the Financial Advi-sor’s pot was won by Buddy Lucas 225 for $240 with Leon-ard Ruiz Jr. 2nd place with 223 for $100. Game 3 Super Pot went to Mikey Villarreal 255, quite the contrast from last week where you needed 11 strikes or more to win. The TRUE ANCHOR award goes to a new winner, Barry Couch Jr. collected the honors with a 3 game set of 361.

One more week on the dreaded US Open shot to try and move into the Round Lead, improve your standing, or move up the ladder in the Roll Off seedings. I’m sure most can’t wait for May to get here, since we will be finished with this pattern. Hope to see you all down at Del Rio next Monday in Downey. Have a blessed week everyone!

Brunswick Invitational Is Back On The Lanesby David Yamauchi

DOWNEY – The Brunswick Invitational returned to action af-ter a two week hiatus for the holiday break. Teams were ready to take on the second week on the longer 46’ oil pattern with a better idea after having bowled one week on the condition.

In the “A” match, two undefeated 5-0 teams tried to continue their hot start to the season. Sysco came out strong taking game one by 66 and never looked back en route to a sweep of DV8 and extending their record to a perfect 10-0. Sysco will meet Profes-sional Approach next week in the “A” match.

In the “B” match, the top-two 4-1 teams battled as second-round winners J.A.T. matched up with Cal Bowl once again. Cal Bowl came out striking to take game one by nearly triple digits, but J.A.T. cut the lead in half with a second game win and took to-tals with a big third game for the 4-1 win. Kevin Valmonte struck to 601 to lead J.A.T. while Leonard Ruiz Jr. was solid for Cal Bowl with a 611 series.

Bowlium and Buddy’s Bowling Supply both got off to good 4-1 starts and looked to keep the momentum rolling in their favor. Bowlium started the night with a big 823 to take game one by a whopping 182 sticks, but dropped games two and three after Val Wise recovered from his 123 start to get to 514. Bowlium held on for a 68 pin totals win and a 3-2 result. Ramiro Garcia (629) and Billy Myers Jr. (624) were big for Bowlium while Buddy Lucas’ 625 was high for Buddy’s Bowling Supply.

Professional Approach and Don Julio Tequila were the low 4-1 teams going into tonight’s action. Professional Approach came out striking for a big 180 stick first game win and never looked back as they swept through Don Julio. Jeremy Glover went huge for Pro Approach with a 679 set while J.T. Diso managed 505 subbing for Don Julio. 9-1 Professional Approach will move up to the “A” match next week to meet 10-0 Sysco.

Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Forest Lanes were in the mid-dle of the pack rematching after a 3-2 split last week. Once again
