The Conference is dedicated, in memoriam, to Alexandros Moraitidis, man of Modern Greek Letters, ecclesiastic hymnographer, chantor and monk, 80 years since his passing. The Conference will be held between the 10th-14th of June 2009 in Paeanea, one of the most important municipalities of Ancient Athens and specifically - at the state-of-the-art Phillipos Nakas Music Company Building - in Attica, Greece. All musical and artistic events will be held at the European Art Center, the Vorres Museum, the Alexandros Pyliounis Museum of Folklore, the Nativity of Christ Church in Paeanea, and the proximal Paeanea Center Sinidioktisia. , . , 1911, , 1925 " . Many, if not all Athenians came to pray at the St-Elissaios church in Plaka during the time when two legends of modern Greek Letters, Alexandros Papadiamantis and Alexandros Moraitidis served as the chantors (protopsaltis and lampadarios, respectively). Moraitidis assumed the responsibility of first chanter upon Papadiamantis' passing in 1911, and remained at the church for 15 years. In 1925, he wrote and published his marvelous offering to the saint, entitled "Panegyric Service and Paracletic Canon to the Glorious Prophet and Saint, Elissaios".
