    della natura e del fare umano.Per un esterno non banale, esoticoo gi visto, abbiamo guardato ad unluogo vicino, che conosciamo bene,

    che amiamo, che la nostra terra,il Friuli, e abbiamo giocato adimmaginarlo come il qui e laltrove,dove il qui sottolineato dai datie dalle immagini di Google-Earth, elaltrove affidato alle suggestioni

    fotografiche ed ai testi. Gli oggettistessi della collezione OUT, che sonoparte fondante di questa storia, sono

    progettati in libert per essere indialogo intrigante e giocoso con lanatura, lout-door, il fuori casa.Vivranno in giardini come fioriin mezzo al verde e sotto il cielo,

    si diceva con i vari designers.A me piaceva lidea di vederli suun prato, come sbucati per caso, comesbucano i fiori. O, alcuni di loro,muoversi fra lerba secca di unasavana come serpenti,o come scorpioni velenosi.

    - a c o m bi n a ti o n o f p h o to g r ap h y ,graphic design, artwork and literary

    t e x ts - i s t h e r es u l t o f acollaborative undertaking dedicated tobringing the fruits of human endeavourand nature together in one place.At the same time, we wanted to tell a

    story about the chosen locations.Eschewing the exotic, but also thefamiliar and ordinary, we set oursights on a place we know and love,our homeland Friuli.We played make-believe, imaginingourselves both here and yet alsoelsewhere, where the hereis evidenced by the data and images

    provided by Google-Earth, and theelsewhere is evoked by thephotographic images and theaccompanying texts. The objectsfeatured in the OUT collection,which form the basis for the storiesrecounted here, were placed as if theywere engaged in a conspiratorial andplayful conversation with nature.Theyll be planted in gardens likeflowers, surrounded by greenery andlive beneath the sky, we told thedesigners involved. I really liked the

    idea of seeing them on a lawn ormeadow, as if they had sprung up fromnowhere, just as flowers do, orimagining them slithering or crawlingthrough the dry grass of a savannah,like snakes or poisonous scorpions.

    What we were eager to convey was theidea of travel. We imagined we werein Friuli Venezia Giulia, our nativeland, and that were out playing withthe rest of the world. We went aroundplanting objects as if we wereplanting flowers in spring andwatched them grow as they dancedbeneath the branches; we hid them,still fragile yet full-grown, beneaththe snow. We had a French afternoon

    tea with our table friends, as wefled from screaming armchairs racing

    to catch the moon. We found calm andpeace of mind as we stood before thesea. We were a bunch of friends; men,women and objects, and for almost ayear we played on natures floor.

    We had a wonderful time, we even didsome magic. What we were eager toconvey was the aura of these places.We were enchanted by the imageevoked; the land transformed beforeour eyes: another world, but ourworld, our native home.And this is what is still surprisingto us, the joy we had inventingfairytales. We were a bunch offriends; men, women and objects, andfor almost a year we played onnatures floor. We sat and listenedto the world, the world here aroundus, but it could be anywhereand in the eyes of each and everyone of us.

Siamo stati un gruppo di amici,uomini e oggetti, seduti sulla naturaper quasi un anno a giocare.Ci siamo divertiti, abbiamo fatto

    delle magie. lidea dei luoghi che ci piacesuggerire.
