Centro de Formação Profissional do Artesanato

CEARTE - Centro de Formação Profissional do Artesanato (Vocational Training Centre for Arts and Crafts) was created through a protocol between IEFP (Institute of Employment and Vocational Training) and the Diocesan Caritas of Coimbra and, since 1986, it has worked for the sector of Arts and Crafts, creative industries, and small companies, promoting employment, the valuation of territories and, in general, the qualification of the Portuguese.

CEARTE’s activities are aimed at developing vocational training for several areas of the Arts and Crafts sector in Portugal (and other training areas at local level) and contributing to the realisation of public employment and vocational training policies, improving the employability of unemployed youths and adults. The Centre develops training for unemployed and active youths and adults, and trainers, as well as tailor-made solutions for organisations.

CEARTE’s headquarters is located in Coimbra, and it also has facilities in Miranda do Corvo and Alvaiázere. Training for the Active Population (employed and unemployed)

Continuous Training

Within a perspective of life-long learning, CEARTE has contributed to the

development and update of skills of the active population in general, and of social

economy workers and artisans in particular.

The objective is to adjust training to the different needs of companies, artisans,

social economy entities while investing in innovation, design, technical quality,

hygiene and safety, ICTs, corporate management, promotion and trade.

CEARTE also organises training to meet the specific needs of small companies and

organisations.

For unemployed people, CEARTE provides qualification aimed at enhancing re-entry

into the labour market through the rapid integration into short training programmes,

which allow the acquisition of relevant technical and entrepreneurial skills.

These programmes, integrated into the National Qualification System, are conducted

throughout the national territory in collaboration with companies, private institutions

of social solidarity, associations of artisans, associations for local development and

other entities.

Training for Youths and AdultsInitial Training with Double Certification (or only Technological)

Learning Programmes, Technological Specialisation, and Adult Education and Training

(EFA) aimed at qualifying professionals capable of efficiently meeting the new

demands of the labour market.

CEARTE has a broad set of training programmes which provide qualification to

unemployed youths and adults for specific professional activities in Arts and Crafts,

and other needed areas such as Fashion Design, Clothing, Catering, Social domain

(Geriatrics, Health Assistant, School Custodian), Renewable Energies, Electricity,

Multimedia, Computer Science, Environmental Systems, Gardening, Museography,

Heritage Management, and Conservation and Restoration, grating level 3, 4 and 5

qualification, and 9th to 12th grade school certification. The partnerships established

with teaching institutions, companies, museums and other entities take on an

essential role throughout the entire training process and contribute to good

employability.

Our Learning Programmes – Dual System for youths (from 15 to 25 years old), with a

modality shifting between Centre and company, have a strong practical component

associated to social-cultural, scientific and technological knowledge, which provides

complete vocational training and level 4 qualification, with 12th grade school

equivalence, and thus promote entry into employment and allow continuous training.

CQEPCentre for Qualification and Vocational Teaching

CQEP provides youths and adults (active and unemployed) with support for

choosing and following a personal project of school and vocational

qualification for professional enhancement and/or re-entry into the labour

market. It is also a support tool for companies/entities in the qualification

and enhancement of their human resources.

Services:

Free service providing school and vocational information and guidance;

Referral to qualification adjusted to individual employment and life project

needs;

School certification at the level of Elementary Education (9th grade) and

Secondary Education (12th grade);

Vocational certification in several professional areas.

CEARTE develops itinerant school and vocational certification processes

(throughout the centre region) which are adjusted to the availability of

participants, companies and institutions.
