arloesol o gefnogi a gwella rheolaeth ddyddiol o wasanaethau cludi-ant cymunedol ledled canolbarth Cymru. Caiff y cyllid ei ddefnyddio i brynu dyfeisiau canlyn ac eco-fodiwlau GPRS. Bydd rhain yn cael ei gosod mewn 34 cerbyd sy’n berchen i 15 cynllun Cludiant Cymunedol ledled Ceredigion, Meirionydd a Phowys.

Trwy’r grant, bydd dyfeisiadau canlyn WORKsmart™ yn cael eu gosod yn y cerbydau i gynorthwyo’r sector yng Nghanolbarth Cymru i gael y gorau o’u buddsoddiad yn y cerbydau a’r gyrwyr. Ceir hyfforddiant a dilyniant er mwyn sicrhau bod y defnyddwyr yn medru defnyddio’r dy-feisiadau canlyn yn hyderus, a’u bod yn cael y gorau allan o fuddsod-diad TraCC.

Mae angen i Gludiant Cymunedol leihau costau wrth ddarparu gwasanaeth gyda gwerth ychwanegol i’r sector tra’n ymgeisio i fod yn fwy cynaladwy yn ariannol. Bydd y dechnoleg newydd yn rhoi’r modd i drefnu teithiau’n fwy effeithiol, lleihau pellter, defnydd o ynnu, costau cynnal a chadw a threthu’n ymwneud ag ynnu ar bob cerbyd. Gall y system ddanfon negeseon tecst a manylion archebu yn syth i’r gyrwyr sy’n arbed ar y bil ffôn, ac hefyd danfon y person agosaf i lenwi gwasanaeth sy’n lleihau hyd y teithiau.

Hefyd, mae pob mudiad yn ceisio bod yn fwy cynaladwy yn amgyl-cheddol. Trwy annog pobl i eco-yrru, mae’r mudiadau’n gwneud y mwyaf o’r dechnoleg newydd tra’n gwella defnydd o ynnu, lleihau carbon, gwella esmythâd y teithwyr a diogelwch.

Cyflwynwyd y cais gan CTA Cymru, mewn partneriaeth â CAVO a PAVO. Bydd Consortium Cludiant Rhanbarthol Cymru yn buddsoddu dros £50k i’r sector.

approach to support and improve the day to day management of commu-nity transport services across mid Wales. The funding is to purchase GPRS tracking devices and eco-modules that will be fitted to a total of 34 vehi-cles belonging to 15 Community Transport operators based across Ceredi-gion, Meirionnydd and Powys.

The grant will enable the fitting of the WORKsmart™ fleet management tracking solutions into minibuses to help the sector in Mid Wales to make the most of its investment in vehicles and drivers. Full training and follow-up will be provided ensuring that users are able to use the tracking sys-tems confidently, and that TraCC’s investment is fully utilised.

As Community Transport seeks to become more sustainable financially, there is a need to drive down costs whilst still delivering a value added service to the sector. Using the new technology will provide the tools to schedule jobs more efficiently, reduce mileage, fuel consumption, main-tenance costs and fuel-related taxes for each vehicle. The system can also send text messages and order details directly to drivers, saving on mobile phone bills, and can send the nearest person to a new job to optimise journey times.

Additionally, all organisations these days are seeking to become more environmentally sustainable, and encouraging eco-driving represents a new culture that makes best use of advanced vehicle technologies while improving fuel efficiency, carbon reduction, passenger comfort and road safety.

The bid was submitted by CTA Wales, in partnership with CAVO and PAVO and will see an investment of over £50k by the mid Wales Regional Transport Consortium directly to the sector.

Cynhaliwyd y Gynhadledd Flynyddol a’r wledd wobrwyo yng ngwesty’r Vil-lage Hotel yng Nghaerdydd eleni. Mae’r niferoedd sy’n mynychu’r wledd wobrwyo’n cynyddu bob blwyddyn, ynghyd a’r nifer sy’n cael eu henwebu am wobrwyon. Roedd y categoriau eleni yn amrywio o’r ‘Gwirfoddolwr Gorau’ i’r ‘Cynllun Marchnata Gorau’ a’r enillwyr yn cynwys PVT sy’n dod o Sir Benfro, a chynllun Galw am Siwrnau o Ddinbych, Gogledd Cymru.

Daeth pawb ynghyd wedi hwyl y noson wobrwyo, i’r gynhadledd a’r ard-dangosfa. Agorwyd y gynhadledd orlawn gan Eluned Parrott AC, Cadeirydd Newydd y Grŵp Trawsbleidiol ar Gludiant Cymunedol yng Nghynilliad Lly-wodraeth Cenedlaethol Cymru. Trafodwyd cludiant di-argyfwng meddygol, y gwasanaeth datgelu a gwahardd newydd, clybiau ceir a chynaladwyaeth yn y gynhadledd. Roedd arddangosfa drafnidiaeth benodol yn cynnwys ystod o arddangoswyr a’u cynhyrchion a’u gwasanaethau yno ar y diwrnod.

Estynwn ein diolch i’r holl noddwyr eto eleni: Q’Straint, Thames Valley Op-erators/CATSS, Taith, Sewta, Swwitch ac Argraffwyr Mike Clarke o Lanelli.

Mae sefydlu clwstwr yswiriant yn syniad da, a gall wneud rhai arbedion gwirioneddol i gynlluniau Cludiant Cymunedol. Mae rhai o’r cynlluniau’n arbed £300 ar bob bws trwy’r syniad yma.

Daeth grŵp o weithredwyr Cludiant Cymunedol ynghyd oedd eisiau bod yn rhan o’r polisi. Cafwyd nifer o wahanol brisiau a gosodwyd un dyddiad i gychwyn y polisi oedd yn seiliedig ar y prisiau ddyfynwyd – 21 Mawrth 2012. Dewiswyd y dyddiad ar hapnod, a bu’n rhaid i rai o’r gweithredwyr ddileu y polisiau oedd ganddynt a chael ad-daliad ar yr arian roeddent wedi wario’n barod. Gwnaeth dau weithredwr ymuno a’r cynllun unwaith roedd eu polisiau wedi dirwyn i ben, oherwydd byddent wedi gorfod talu dirwy am adael eu cwmnïau yswiriant yn gynnar.

Mae polisi yswiriant Cymdeithas Cludiant Cymunedol Norfolk gydag Aviva, trwy Wrightsure. Mae gennym gytundeb dwy flynedd o rannu elw, sy’n golygu y byddwn yn derbyn ad-daliad ar ddiwedd y flwyddyn gyntaf os yw’r cyfradd ceisiadau’n isel. Rydym ar ben ffordd i dderbyn hyn ar hyn o bryd, sy’n wych.

Talodd Cymdeithas Cludiant Cymunedol Norfolk am y polisi yswiriant ymlaen llaw, ac mae’r gweithredwyr yn talu nol yn fisol heb unrhyw gost ychwanegol.

Syniadau gafwyd gan Gymdeithas Cludiant Cymunedol Norfolk

Trwy CCCN rydym wedi arbed arian ar ein taliadau yswiriant blynyddol, mae gennym yswiriant os byddwn yn torri lawr na fedrem fforddio a thrwy hyn rydym wedi arbed ar y gost o gludo’r cerbyd i’r garej pan mae’n torri lawr.

Establishing an insurance cluster is a great idea, and can make some real savings for Community Transport schemes. Some of our schemes are saving £300 a bus as a result!

We established a group of Community Transport operators that were interested in being part of the policy, gathered several quotes, then based on these, set a single date for the policy to begin - 21 March 2012. This was an arbitrary date, which meant that some operators needed to cancel their existing policies, getting a rebate on what they’d already paid. A couple of operators would have had to pay a penalty for leaving their existing insurance early, so they didn’t join at the begin-ning and instead joined once their existing policy came to an end.

The Norfolk Community Transport Association (NCTA) policy is with Aviva, through Wrightsure. We have a 2 year profit share deal with them, which means that we will receive a rebate at the end of year 1 if the claims rate remains low. We are currently on track to receive this!

The NCTA paid for the insurance policy up front and the operators pay this back monthly, at no extra cost.

Ideas from Norfolk Community Transport

Association

“Via NCTA we have saved on our annual insurance premium, have breakdown cover that previously we couldn’t afford and through this already saved on the cost of a vehicle being recovered by the garage.”

Mae cwmnïau yswiriant yn cydnabod bod nifer o’u deiliaid eisiau cyfrannu i’w cymuned trwy yrru’n wirfoddol. Mae Cymdeithas Yswir-wyr Prydain wedi creu rhestr o ofynion penodol y cwmnïau yswiriant; fel ydy’r cwmni’n codi mwy am yswiriant i berson sy’n gyrru ‘r wir-foddol ac yn defnyddio ei gar/char i wneud hynny; oes angen i’r gyrrwr ddweud wrth y cwmni yswiriant y byddant yn defnyddio’r cerbyd ar gyfer gwirfoddoli, a’i manylion cyswllt.

Does dim rhaid i ddeiliad y polisi hysbysu eu Cwmnïau yswiriant modur trwy lythyr eu bod yn gyrru’n wirfoddol. Edrychwch ar eich dogfen-nau polisi i weld pwy yw eich yswiriwr, gall hyn weithiau fod yn waha-nol i’r cwmni a werthodd yr yswiriant.

Ymrwymiad Cymdeithas Yswirwyr Prydain:‘Bydd yr yswirwyr enwyd yn yswirio deiliaid y polisi i yrru’n wirfoddol, hynny yw, i yrru cerbyd maent yn berchen ar ran neu er lles elusennau, mudiadau gwirfoddol, clybiau neu gymdeithasau o dan yr amodau canlynol. Nid y’w taliad yn fwy na chyfradd milltiroedd Cyllid a Thollau EM. Do you drive you own car for volunteering?

It is recognised by motor insurers that many policyholders want to con-tribute to their community through volunteer driving. The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has put together a list of motor insurers detailing specific requirements; such as if the insurer charges the policyholder for using their car to volunteer, if the policy holder needs to tell the insurer if they intend to driver for volunteering purposes and their contact details.

Many motor insurance companies no longer require a letter informing them that a policy holder will be volunteering to drive. To check who your insurer is please view your policy documentation, this will some-times be different from the company who sold the insurance.

ABI’s Commitment:‘The insurers named will insure their policyholders to carry out volun-tary driving, that is, the use of a vehicle they own in connection with, or for the benefit of, charities, voluntary organisations, clubs or societies, under the conditions set out below, where payment does not exceed the HMRC mileage rates in force at that time. This does not cover use for hire or reward or vehicles owned by, hired to or lent to the voluntary organisation.’

It should be highlighted that this commitment is for private cars insured on private car insurance policies expect where clearly stated on ABI’s Motor Insurers Commitment Document. For more information and a copy of this document please see the ABI’s website:www.abi.org.uk/Information/Consumers/General/Volunteer_Driving_.aspxTelephone the ABI: 020 7600 3333 or get in touch with CAVO

Mae 30,000 o fudiadau’n rhan o’r sector gwirfoddol yng Nghymru. Mae rhain yn cynnwys; mudiadau gwirfoddol, grwpiau cymunedol, gwirfoddolwyr, grwpiau hunan-gymorth, mentrau a chydweithiau cymunedol, mudiadau crefyddol a mudiadau eraill di-elw sydd o fudd i gymunedau a phobl Cymru. Mae’r sector anferth ac amrywiol yma’n gwnued cyfraniad pwysig i fywyd economaidd, cymdeithasol, amgyl-chelddol a diwyllianol Cymru.

Rydym yn cydnabod bod gwirfoddoli’n ‘beth da’ i Gymru a dylem ei gefnogi a’i hybu. Gwelir gwirfoddoli fel rhywbeth anhunanol, yr awydd i helpu pobl ac achosion sy’n agos i’n calonnau. Mae gweithredau anhunanol yn dangos yr ochr orau o’r natur ddynol, ac yn cyflawni ein potensial unwaith maen anghenion sylfaenol wedi cael eu diwallu.

Cydnabyddir bod gwirfoddoli yn elwa ddwy-ffordd, a’i fod o fudd i’r mudiad ac i’r unigolyn. Mae manteision gwirfoddoli’n cynnwys: adeiladu cysylltiadau, mwynhad o weithgaredd pwrpasol, ennill profiad a sgiliau, datblygiad personol, cynnydd mewn darpariaeth gwasanaeth lleol, cyfranogiad democrataidd, cynhwysiant a chydlyniant cymdeithasol.

Y bobl hanfodol!Mae gwirfoddolwyr yn rhan hanfodol o weithgaredd cludiant cymunedol. Heb ein gwirfoddolwyr ni fyddai’r gwasanaethau cludiant cymunedol anghenrheidiol yma ar gael. Byddai llawer o bobl Ceredigion heb yr un ffordd o deithio i weld eu teuluoedd a ffrindiau, eu meddyg, neu fynd i’r siopau, a fyddai’n effeithio ar iechyd a’u lles cymdeithasol.

Buddiau Gwirfoddoli?

Page 19: Community Transport News (Issue3)

Volunteers are paramount to the great work of community transport. There is no doubt that without volunteers many of the vital community transport services would not take place. Leaving numerous residents without a lifeline to make important trips to family and friends, the doctors and to the shops impacting on the health and social wellbeing of residents.

The voluntary sector mobilises the energies of possibly more people than any other part of civil society. 30,000 organisations make up the voluntary sector in Wales. This includes; voluntary organisations, community groups, volunteers, self-help groups, community co-operatives and enterprises, religious organisations and other not for profit organisations that benefit the communities and people in Wales. This massive and diverse sector makes a major contribution to economic, social, environmental and cultural life of Wales.

Volunteering is recognised as a ‘good thing’ for Wales to be supported and promoted. Volunteering is associated with altruism, the desire to benefit people and causes we care about. Self-less, altruistic action is an expression of the best in our human nature. The fulfilment of our potential once our more basic needs are met.

Volunteering is recognised as being of two way benefit, to the organi-sation and to the individual. Benefits of volunteering include: building relationships, enjoyment of purposeful activity, experience and skills gained, personal development, increase in local service provision, increase of socail well-being, democratic participation, inclusion and social cohesion.

Why volunteer?

The people who make it happen!

Pan dorrodd ei hiechyd, roedd Ceir y Wlad yno i fynd a hi allan i lle bynnag roedd hi angen mynd. Byddai un o yrwyr Ceir y Wlad yn galw bob wythnos, a byddai mam yn mwynhau’r glonc a’r cymdeithasu. Roedd mam mor falch o’r cynllun, a byddai’n cydnabod hyn yn aml trwy ddanfon llythyron i’r Cambrian News.

Gydag amser, gwnes i a’r gŵr ymddeol, a gwnaethom ymuno â’r cynl-lun. Roedden ni’n gweld gwirfoddoli fel rhywbeth difrifol: wnaethon ni ddim ystyried cymaint o bleser y bydden ni’n gael yng nghwmni ein teithwyr wrth yrru o amgylch Ceredigion. Rydym wedi cwrdd â ph-obl ddiddorol dros ben, fel y wraig o Hampstead oedd yn mwynhau’r theatre. Es i a hi i Aberystwyth i siopa, ac ar y ffordd adre o Lanfarian i Lanon, ces fy niddanu ganddi’n canu caneon ei chyn gymydog Donald Flanders (Swan a Flanders)! Rydw i a’r gŵr wedi dod i adnabod rhai o’m cymdogion oedd yn ddiethriaid i ni, er eu bod yn byw dim ond lawr y stryd i ni ers blynyddoedd. Roeddwn yn gweld gwirfoddoli i Ceir y Wlad fel cyfle i ad-dalu’r holl gefnogaeth gafodd fy mam dros y blynyddoedd.

Er mawr syndod i mi, rwy’n teimlo mod i wedi ennill cymaint o’r pleser rwy’n gael yng nghwmni’r bobl sy’n teithio yn fy nghar!

Gair gan ein Gwirfoddolwyr!Margaret Bevan

Gyrrwr gwirfoddol ar ranWRVS Ceir y Wlad

Er mod i heb ddechrau gwirfoddoli tan Mawrth 2012, gwnes y pend-erfyniad i fod yn yrrwr gwirfoddol 18 mlynedd ynghynt, pan oedd mam yn sal. Er ei bod wedi ymddeol roedd hi’n weithgar iawn gyda’r WRVS, ac yn mwynhau helpu gyda’r boreau coffi yn Aberaeron.

Let’s hear from the volunteers!

Although I did not volunteer until March 2012, the decision to become a driver was made about 18 years ago, when my mother’s health broke. She had been a sprightly pensioner who lived life to the full and a WRVS volunteer and a helper at every coffee morning in Aberaeron.

Margaret Bevanvolunteer driver for WRVS County Cars

Country Cars took her wherever she needed to go regularly for the remaining eight years of her life on a weekly basis. Mum was a very sociable person and she enjoyed chatting to the Country-Car drivers. Mum’s gratitude to the scheme was immense and she let everyone know this through her public letters of thanks in The Cambrian News.

Time passed and in March of this year, now both (my husband and I) retired, we joined the scheme. We thought we would be helping others: what we had not realised was how much pleasure we would get from the company of our passengers during our journeys around Ceredigion. We have met some interesting people. For instance, I took a theatre-loving lady, originally from Hampstead, to do some shopping in Aberystwyth and on the way home she regaled me with a series of songs by her former neighbour, Donald Flanders (of Swan and Flanders fame) all the way from Llanfarian to Llanon! Surprisingly, volunteering has given my husband and me the opportunity to get to know some delightful neighbours whom we had not met previously, despite living only a few doors away from them for several years. My intention in volunteering for the Country Cars scheme was to try to repay the support it had given my mother for so many years. To my surprise, I have found instead that I am the one who is being rewarded by the pleasure I gain from the company of the people I carry in my car.

CAVO’s AGM saw Anna Lewis, Legal Services Officer at WCVA, explain the importance of Good Governance and how WCVA’s governance health check can really help.

At the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) we appreciate that it is the trustees running Wales’ 30,000+ voluntary organisations that are now under increased pressure to show that their organisation is well run and working towards the purpose for which it was estab-lished. We know that the majority of organisations in the third sector are doing a fantastic job, and we want to help trustees ensure that they are working in the best possible way, as this will help to reassure funders, stakeholders and the public at large.

WCVA’s governance health check is a self-assessment tool which has been designed in accordance with the principles set out in Good governance: a code for the third sector in Wales. While the primary purpose of completing this self-assessment is to assist trustee boards to work towards adhering to the principles of the above code, it should also help boards of any size to demonstrate their good governance practices to regulators, funders, beneficiaries and stakeholders.

WCVA and CAVO are on hand to help with any governance points please get in touch or visit the websites for your copy of the WCVA’s governance health check. www.wcva.org.uk
