Test purpose

The purpose of this test is to obtain flow performance curves, for the relevant pipe dimensions, expressed as a relation between the water level and it's specific flow rate for the designed

Nature Impact green roof system. System refereing to a setup consisting of drain boxes, green plants, soil, outlet, and leaf guard incl leaf guard bracket.

Test equipment

The test will be carried out on the JUAL test stand for outlet flow rate testing with a standard setup arrangement acc. To EN1253-2:2003 which means that the down pipe has been done

with a 1500 mm offset string and a total fall height of 3000 mm.

Additional test specification

In order to describe the flow capacity for the green roofs system the data has been based upon the standard definitions for outlet flow testing meaning the that the flow rate is

examined at different water levels resulting in a set of data from which a flow curve can be derived. The green roof test setup which has been added to the standard definition consists

of a green roof area of app. 1200x1200 positioned symmetric around a leaf guard. The fully saturated green roof drain boxes including soil and plants somewhat prevents the water

from rising the registrated water level is therefore the measure water level around the green roof section.

Based upon the obtained flow rates it is concluded that the complete green roof system will be capable of draining a roof area in an effectiv way if the water will be able to penetrate

through the drain boxes as intended.

Every second drain box protusion for the first row of drainboxes from the leaf guard was canceled.
