Major Required courses

Students learn strategic thinking process, type and subject of strategic intelligence (basic

intelligence, current intelligence, intelligence estimate, warning intelligence, etc.), case of

strategic intelligence analysis. Also, students will be instructed to develop strategic

intelligence analysis capability by practicing “actual” strategic problems that was

discussed by government, corporation, and academia.

Methodology of Strategic Intelligence Analysis (Theory +Practical skill)

Students will be able to obtain understanding and ability of application on qualitative

analysis (brainstorming, inference analysis, cause and effect analysis, etc.) and diverse

technique of quantitative analysis (decision-making analysis, Delphi analysis, Bayesian

analysis, etc.).

Curriculum Subject

Strategic Intelligence Analysis (Theory + Practical skill)

Intelligence Issue Analysis (Practical skill + Seminar)

General Elective courses

Students will be required to produce comprehensive analysis reports that contains

situation analysis, influence analysis, alternative analysis, strategy analysis based on

one’s interest of intelligence issue by applying analytic technique. Also, multiple

seminars will be held in order to help students to develop comprehensive intelligence

analysis skills.

Theory of Security Strategy

Theory of Intelligence Analysis Process:

The course enables students to decrease a probability of failure in intelligence analysis

and enhance the effectiveness by learning overall psychology of intelligence analysis

(recognition prejudice, bias towards a source, overconfidence, early termination of

activity, etc.) and procedure of intelligence analysis (problem proposal, problem analysis,

information request, intelligence evaluation, formulating hypothesis, evaluating

hypothesis).

Students will learn a change process of world-wide security strategy theory that has

evolved with the change in international order. Based on the theory, students will be led to

contemplate a suitable strategic direction for our reality of national security. In particular,

this course will aid the students to search for an appropriate direction of intelligence

activity based on the understanding of our own national security strategy such military

buildup, allied strategy, nuclear deterrence strategy.

management such as the Cuban Missile Crisis and the 911

Attack based on the theoretical understanding of the types,

procedure, and decision process of crisis management.

Big data Analytics (Theory + Practical Skills)

The course will help students to understand statistical method

for data processing using data-mining analytical technique.

Also, students will learn regression analysis such as decision

tree model, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis, factorial

analysis, neural network, logistic regression analysis. The

training on practical skill will be conducted by using XLMiner,

Opensource statistical program R, etc.

Theory of Decision Making

The goal of the course is to achieve perfect understanding of

decision making problem and decision-making methods that

will aid systematic analysis on complex decision-making

issues such as alternative development, uncertainty analysis,

alternative assessment and selection technique, etc. Students

will learn understating of decision-making problem, decision

tree model, method of approach, uncertainty analysis, analysis

of influence, utility function, multi-criteria decision making,

group decision making, game theory, etc. in the course.

Practical Affair on Competitive IntelligenceStudent will learn a fundamental concept and importance of

competitive intelligence, and basic process of collecting

intelligence, management system, and the process of security

management. Also, students will develop comprehensive

capability to collect and analyze intelligence by facing diverse
