Infrared thermometers •work by focusing emitted infrared thermal radiation onto a detector
•converting that to an electrical signal
•then displaying the temperature
(800)828.1470
Emissivity
• In order to make an accurate temperature measurement, you need to know the emissivity of the material you’re measuring.
• Emissivity is a rating of a material’s efficiency to radiate infrared energy.
• Some IR thermometers do not allow you to adjust emissivity, but this feature is available with the Visual IR Thermometer.

Emissivity
The hand above is at the same temperature as the ring, but as the ring reflects more than the hand, it will show a different temperature, unless the correct emissivity is selected.

Traditional IR thermometers may be sufficient• for basic spot checking where
precision and exact location of issue is not critical
• for getting single point measurements where a limited number of temperature readings are needed
(800)828.1470
However, traditional IR
thermometers have limitations that
can cause problems with
temperature measurements.
(800)828.1470
Problem 1:
You are trying to accurately measure a
specific target; however, you’re unclear
if you’ve captured an accurate
temperature. Remember that temp
guns measure only an average surface
temperature.
(800)828.1470
]• You may have to get
very close to your target in order to get any more than an average temperature of what you’re measuring with an IR thermometer.
Distance to spot ratio
(800)828.1470
Without any visual image, how can you be sure that you are measuring only the target spot and not getting an average of the temperatures of surrounding objects?
(800)828.1470
• With a visible image of what you’re measuring, you can be sure that you’re measuring the target.
• No more worrying about distance to spot ratio.

Problem 2:
You have to take many multiple grid
readings and manual temperature
measurements to assess a piece of
equipment.
(800)828.1470
You need to get out a notebook and pen and painstakingly write down each measurement you make.
• Significant drain on productivity.
• Prone to error.
(800)828.1470
• The VT02 lines up a visible image with a thermal heat map
• Blend the resulting image to 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% opacity, both on camera and in the software.
• See temperature measurements in context with what you’re measuring.
• No need to write anything down.

Problem 3:
With a temperature gun, you may
miss “hot spots” or “cold spots” that
may indicate an issue.
(800)828.1470
• When making multiple measurements with an IR thermometer, you cannot quickly identify temperature anomalies.
• It is difficult to interpret measurements as hot spots and cold spots.
Having a set of measurements will not intuitively tell you there’s a problem.
(800)828.1470
• With hot and cold spot markers, you can instantly see the hot and cold spots on the thermal heat map.
• Hot and cold spot markers drill down further on the issues at hand to help you identify the source of the issue.

Problem 4:
You find it difficult to picture or
remember exactly where potential
problems are.
(800)828.1470
• With a blended image, you can picture exactly where the problems are.
• The date and time stamp on saved images helps you keep track of temperatures over time.
• Both visible image and thermal heat map are saved, so you’ll always have all your measurements available.

Problem 5:
You lack an easy way to
communicate issues or document
that repairs are complete.
(800)828.1470
• write out measurements
• describe the location and equipment
• detail your conclusions.
With an IR Thermometer, you will need to
(800)828.1470
• Producing a professional report with the included Smartview® software is just as powerful as the VT02 tool itself.
• You will be able to communicate the issues that you’ve detected or document repairs that have been fixed.
• Software is license fee free with unlimited usage.
How the Visual IR Thermometer
solves this problem:
(800)828.1470
• Extensive annotation, editing, and viewing options
• Multiple reporting options and templates
• Enhance and analyze images quickly and easily
• Report Wizard guides you through automatic report generation
• Communicate image details with text annotation drag and drop feature
SmartView® software is the smart choice.

Visual Thermometer technology strikes the perfect balance between performance and affordability
• hyper-thin pyroelectric technology creates an infrared heat map
• elusive technology until now
• incorporates features found only on advanced thermal imagers at a much higher cost
• built-in intelligence eliminates the need to have an advanced knowledge of thermal imaging

The Reviews Are In\ VT02“Having a visual image provides context. It is hands-down the best way to take temperature measurements. Even with a thermal imager, I am not sure what I am looking at, the visual image is key! The more I use it, the more I like it!”
-Master Electrician
“This is a cool product! I can see tons of HVAC applications for this tool. I am an HVAC instructor and this would definitely be a tool that I would show all of my students!”
-HVAC Instructor
“I already have a thermal imager and this is very cool. I could definitely see my crew owning a few of these.”
-Electrical
“When is this product available? I would like to order one now. Can I purchase this right now at this tradeshow before I head back home?”
-Utilities
