CBC’s Pipeline Speakers are unprece-dented, true line-array speakers capa-ble of creating an ideal linear soundsource across a full range of frequen-cies. Unlike omni-directional conespeakers, which cause considerablesound diffusion over distance, thesepatented flat panel speakers projectdirectional sound at more than twicethe distance of conventional conespeakers with minimal sound decay.

Precision targeting is delivered by transmitting sound in a 110 degree horizontal-only direction with negligible vertical transmission.

Precise Targeting of Audio Transmission

If sound pressure 80 dB is required in a position 16 m fromthe speaker, a sound pressure level of 92 dB at a position 1meter from the speaker will be sufficient. Since the differencein sound pressure is only 12 dB, the sound heard in the frontseat is not too loud.

Under the same conditions, the conventional speakerrequires a sound pressure level of 104 dB at 1 meter fromthe speaker. Since the sound pressure difference is 24 dB,the sound heard in the front seat is too loud.

As viewed from above, true linear sound is transmitted in a 110 degree area from thesource, with minimal verticalreverberation from objects orthe environment. The subjectreceives more of the sourcesound, and less disturbancefrom environmental conditions,while those outside of the targeted are less likely to hearthe transmission.

Due to the limitations of cone or non-linear technology, sub-jects in non-targeted areas arepresented with sound from thesource due to the inability totarget the transmission.Environmental surfaces andobjects cause the sound toreverberate and decay in amuch wider area, closer to thesource.

Since the sound extends straight in the horizontal direction,reflection from the ceiling and the floor is minimum. It iscapable of communicating only direct sound without reflectedsound to listeners.

Since the sound spreads in all directions (horizontal andvertical), reflected sound is generated from the ceiling andthe floor. Listeners hear sound containing reflected sound,which decreases clarity.
