Welcome! Bettendorf Parks and Recreation provides recreational opportunities that enrich the quality of life for all! Please take a close look through our fall/winter brochure as we have added new programs and opportunities!
DIRECTOR’S UPDATE: The Bettendorf Parks and Recreation Department is excited to bring a wealth of recreational opportunities for you and your family this Fall and Winter. Please take the time to check out all the exciting activities that we offer for a wide variety of interests and ages! We have a number of new programs and activities that we are offering that will help provide the quality of life that you want for your family. Remember to get out and experience some of our 24 different parks, or play a round of fall golf (there is no better time), or join our Life Fitness Center and start a new commitment to your health. Whatever you choose to do, be sure to get out and take advantage of these fantastic family oriented facilities and programs. Remember, “Parks Grow Healthy Communities”!

staff are very pleased to provide the programs and facilities listed in this
brochure. We try to offer a well-rounded selection of activities and amenities to
choose from, and we want you to have an outstanding experience. Please let us know of any suggestions or concerns

Adult Programs
Men’s Basketball League All players must be 18 years of age, out of high school, and not a current member of an interscholastic or semi/professional team. Players may only play on one team. Teams must be made up of a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 players. All teams must wear matching same color shirt with numbers on the front and back. Location: Bettendorf Middle School
Registration Begins: September 16, 2013 Registration Deadline: October 18, 2013
Early Incentive Team Fee: $440* After October 11th: $450* *Team fee and application must be turned in at the same time.

Men’s, Women’s and Co-ed Volleyball Leagues All players must be 18 years old and out of high school. Rosters must have a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12. Players may only play in one league and with one team. Players may choose to play in the Wednesday or the Thursday night league. Location: Herbert D. Goettsch Community Center

Spring Break Baseball & Softball Camps The purpose of this camp is to introduce and break down the basic skills of the game for both boys and girls. Activities include the fundamentals of hitting, the proper throwing mechanics, and catching and fielding instruction.

Fall Soccer League Our recreation staff will form teams according to schools. Parents, if you can help coach a team, please indicate so during registration! Flag Football League Practices will be held for EACH team on September 3rd, 5th, 10th, and 12th. Games will begin Sept. 17th. Each team will play 1 game per night, giving each team 2 games per week. 10-game season, weather permitting. Players must provide a mouth guard to participate. Please indicate if you are interested in coaching. We rely heavily upon parent volunteers to coach these teams. Register in advance to guarantee your spot. All classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Classes with less than 8 participants may be canceled.
Active Wellness Week at the LFC
Date: October 19-26, 2013 Each day during wellness week, we will have demos/talks from wellness providers, free blood pressure checks, free one-day passes for non-members to try out the facility as well as various group fitness classes. Visit our website in September for a list of activities, lectures, workshops, and events!
Massage Therapy Members can relax and enjoy a soothing massage by visiting our in-house massage therapist!

Disc Golf Ace Race
Join us for the Discraft Ace Race! This Disc Golf event features two rounds of 18 holes, one throw per hole per player. The rounds will move fast with Holes between 180 and 250 feet (55 to 75 meters)!

Outdoor Winter Recreation
Ice Skating Middle Park Lagoon located on Parkway Drive is open for free outdoor public ice skating. For safety reasons, the ice thickness must reach 6” or greater before the Bettendorf Parks and Recreation Department will approve the lagoon for ice skating activities. The light above the warming house will be green when it is safe and red when it is not safe.
Cross Country Skiing Crow Creek Park located at 4800 N. Devils Glen Road has an official cross country trail used in the summer months by various schools for track meets. This trail makes a beautifully scenic cross country skiing trail in the winter months! Crow Creek now encompasses our brand new “groomed trails” thanks to the help of a volunteer committee!
Sledding The most popular sledding locations in Bettendorf include Middle Park along 23rd Street and the Palmer Hills Golf Course on Middle Road. Both locations offer great sledding hills for hours of winter fun! Come in from the cold and visit the Palmer Grill, located inside the Palmer Hills Golf Course clubhouse. The restaurant is open to the public from 10am-3pm Monday-Saturday!
Dog Park Play with us at the Crow Creek Dog Park located at 4800 Devils Glen Rd! The dog park offers different areas for different activity levels in your canine friend. Dogs must wear collars with current vaccination tags and city licenses at all times. Licenses are available at City Hall at 1609 State Street in Bettendorf.

Golf Cart Tour Enjoy this wonderfully relaxing scenic tour of Bettendorf’s parks and trails as you caravan along in gold carts. The tour begins at Palmer Hills Golf Course and lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours. This event is very popular and has two tour times 10:00am and 1:30pm! Enjoy lunch before or after your tour at the Palmer Grill! Fall Tour is September 9, 2013 (rain date 9/10). Registration begins August 27, 2013. Seats fill up the first day, so call early! “For Kids, By Kids” America’s second oldest children’s theatre is headed into its 61st season! We help kids ages 3-18 learn to express themselves imaginatively, dream big, and have fun. In addition to year round classes, camps, and workshops, we also perform “Mainstage Productions” for the whole family to enjoy. We hope you can join the adventure! St. Patrick’s Day Dance You’re invited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by putting on the green and “cutting the rug” to music that is bound to get up your Irish. The $4 admission fee, payable at the door, includes refreshments. This event is sponsored by the Bettendorf and Davenport Parks and Recreation, HDC, New Found Hope, New Choices Inc., and Vera French Pine Knoll. Friday, March 14, 2014 from 6-8pm at the Bettendorf Community Center.
