    Creating Part

    1. Start ABAQUS/CAE

    2. Create Model Databasefrom the Start Session

    3. In the Module Tool, click theParts

    4. Name the partFrame.

    5. Choose : modeling space ( 2D planar or 3D ),type( deformable, discrete or Analytical rigid ),

    Base Feature ( Shell, wire or point).

    6. In the Approximate sizetext field.

    7. Click continue.

    Creating Part

    1. SelectRectangletool to draw a rectangle2. Use the Add Constraint tool to constrain the top and

    bottom edges

    3. Use the Add Dimension tool to dimension the edges of

    the rectangle

    4. Use the Connectedtool to start draw lines.5. Use the Splittool to split either of the two interior lines

    as the second entity and so on.

    To complete the sketch, click Doneto exit

    Creating a material

    To define a material:

    1. In the Model Tree, Click the Materialscontainer

    to create a new material

    2. Name the material

    3. In the menu bar, chooseMechanicalElasticityElastic

    4. Type a value for Young's modulus and a value for

    Poisson's ratio in the respective fields

    5. Click OK.

    Defining and assigning section properties

    The section properties of a model is defined by creating

    sections in the Property module

    To define a truss section

    1. Choosing Sectionsto create a section.

    2. Name the sectionABC > select in the Categorylist

    >select in the Typelist

    3. select name Material in edit section.

    4. In the Cross-sectional areafield

    To assign the section to the frame:

    1. Under Parts,expand the Frameitem

    2. Click Section Assignments > highlights theentire frame >click Donein the prompt area

    to assign the frame to section.

    Defining the assembly

    Define the geometry of the assembly by creating

    instances of a part and then positioning the instances

    relative to each other in a global coordinate system .

    To define the assembly:

    1. Click Assemblyunder the Module list >Click Instances

    2. Choose: independent or dependent

    3. Using Auto-offset ( > 2 part)

    4. Click Apply.

    Creating analysis steps

    Click create step > choose step name

    1. Select a procedure type

    2.Click continue.

    3. Select basic ( setting time period) > select

    incremention (choose maximum numberincrement> increment size)

    To seed and mesh the model:

    1. Click Global Seeds> Select mesh part

    ( options)> Click Ok.

    2. Click Local Seeds> Select edges of part

    > Select mesh region ( options)> Click Ok.

    To generate field data reports Select Report Field Output

    Integration Point>Click the triangle next to S: Stress components>S11.

    In the Setuptabbed page, name the reportFrame.rpt

    The element stresses are written to the report file

    change the position to Unique Nodalin the Report Field Outputdialogbox

    Toggle off S: Stress components, and select U1and U2from the list ofavailable U: Spatial displacementvariable

    toggle off U: Spatial displacement, and select RF1and RF2from thelist of available RF: Reaction forcevariables
