OverviewThe VII Annual Meeting of ESB-ITA comprises both athematic symposium on ocular biomechanics and a gen-eral session.

The functioning of the eye in both health and disease in-volves diverse areas of physics such as solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and electro-chemistry. Understandingand modelling numerically the complex physics of theeye is fundamental to improve patient outcomes in thecurrent clinic practice. In this thematic symposium, or-ganized under the auspices of the International Societyof High-Tech in Ophthalmology, we aim to bring togetherophthalmologists and researchers working on the biome-chanics of the eye, in order to share experiences, ideas, methods and results.

The general session will cover experimental and compu-tational techniques for the study of the pathophysiologi-cal behaviour of biomechanical systems. A broad spec-trum of scales will be covered, ranging from the cellular, through the tissue, up to organ scale. Medical devicesand their interaction with living-tissues will be also ad-dressed. Accordingly, a snapshot of biomechanical re-search will be provided.

LocationThe conference will be held at the University of RomeLUMSA. The venue is nearby some of the most impor-tant historical sites of Rome, such as the Vatican Cityand Castel Sant’Angelo (less than 50 meters away). Thevenue can be reached by walk from a number of hotels.
