Slow green flash: Your phone is in contact with anetwork.

Insert rechargeable battery
When changing the battery your phone shouldalways be switched off.
Charge the battery
The battery supplied with this telephone is com-pletely discharged. The telephone will initiatecharging as soon as you have inserted the chargerplug. The battery takes one and a half to 7 hoursto become fully charged depending on the size ofthe battery.
To obtain optimum battery performance in dailyuse, wait until the battery is completely dis-charged, before recharging to full capacity.
Battery level indicator
During charging the battery symbols will flash onand off one after another continuously from thebottom of the display up. When the battery is fullycharged all 4 symbols are permanently displayedas long as the phone is switched on.
4 batteries: Battery is fully charged.1- 3 batteries: Battery is partly discharged.0 batteries: Battery needs recharging. You
have limited conversation timeleft. At the same time the phonewill emit a short warning tone andthe LED on top of the phone willemit a fast red flash.
If you insert another battery, this should be fullycharged in order to read out the battery capacityaccurately.

Insert SIM card
Before you can make a call on your mobilephone you have to insert the SIM card.
Should you have forgotten to insert the SIM cardthe telephone will ask you to do so.
Before inserting the SIM card into the phoneplease make sure that any plastic remains fromthe frame punching have been removed.
1. Remember to switch off yourphone before removing the battery.
2. Remove the battery if attached on thephone.
3. Insert the SIM card in the slot and slideit upwards until the locking catch snaps.Please note that the truncated cornershould be at the bottom right.
4. Insert the battery.
5. Switch on the telephone.
The phone will display a welcome greeting.
6. Enter PIN code, if requested, andconfirm by pressing OK
The telephone will now start searching for yourhome network. When connection is successfullyestablished, the name of your network operator
will be displayed.If the telephone cannot get in touch with yourhome network it will start searching for anotherco-operating network.
If the phone cannot establish contact with anynetwork at all and you attempt to make a call, thedisplay will show please redial later.
Remove SIM card
To remove the SIM card press the small redcatch to the right of the SIM card with a pencilor other pointed object.

Selection of language
The display language of your phone is normallythe national language of the country in which youpurchased your SIM card. If this is not the case thedisplay language will be English. You have theoption of choosing between different languages.

Making your first call
1. Enter the phone number you want to call.

If you call a phone number which is diverted toanother phone number, the display will show thephone number to which you are connected andnot the one entered by you.
International calls
When making an international call, enter "+" bypressing the -key for one second and then
enter the relevant national code number beforethe telephone number (e.g. +45 for Denmark).
Phone numbers withextension number
Extension numbers can be dialled by entering apause between the main number and the exten-sion number. To enter a pause, press the -keyfor one second until the pause code P appears
on the display.

Emergency calls
In most cases emergency calls can be made withor without a SIM card. To make an emergencycall without a SIM card just enter the worldwidemobile phone emergency number 112, pressSOS and confirm by pressing CALL.
Answering a call
1. Press ANSWER when the phone rings.
2. Press END to end the call.
Use the arrow keys and to increase anddecrease the speaker volume.
Muting the microphone
While having a call, you may wish to have a pri-vate conversation with someone else. You willhear everything your caller says but you cannotbe heard by the caller.
To switch off the microphone:
1. Press MENU

Your telephone supports the following networkoptions: Having more than one conversation at atime, placing calls on hold, switching between
calls, joining calls and transferring a conversationto another phone number. However, some ser-vices may not be available on all networks.
How to proceed

Muting the microphoneIf during a telephone conversation you want tohave a private conversation with someone elsepresent you can switch off the microphone byselecting Microphone off.
Putting a call on holdYou can make a second call without having toend a call that is currently active. Key in thesecond phone number and press CALL.
The first call will automatically be put on hold.Please be aware that you can only have one callon hold at a time. You can also put calls on holdmanually by selecting Hold call.
Continuing a callWhen you want to retrieve the call put on hold,
just select Continue call.
Switching between callsIf you select Switch calls, the active callwill be put on hold and the call on hold will nowbe active. In this way you can switch betweenyour conversations.
Ending an active call while another is on holdAn active call can be ended by selectingDrop active. The held call will remain onhold and you have to retrieve it to continue con-versation.
Joining callsIf you have an active call and a call on hold at thesame time, you can select Join calls toenable all of you to speak together.
Having a private call while others are on holdIf you have joined all calls and want to have aprivate conversation with one of the callers,
select Private. The other calls will be put onhold.
Ending a call put on holdYou can end the call put on hold by selectingDrop held.
Transferring a callIf you have an active call and a call on hold youcan transfer the call without breaking the con-nection by selecting Transfer call so thatthe other parties can continue speaking to eachother.
Calling a number in the phone bookDuring a conversation you can make a new callto a number stored in your phone book byselecting Phone book.
Sending an SMS messageIf you want to send a message to a third party
select Send message.

How to lock the keypad
To avoid making calls accidentally you can lockthe keypad.

If you try to activate one of the keys, the displaywill tell you that the keypad is locked.

You can store names and telephone numbers ina phone book. The entries are stored on the SIMcard and the number of entries is dependent on
the capacity of the SIM card.Each name may (depending on SIM card) containup to 20 characters and each telephone numberup to 40 digits.
There are several characters available on eachkey, as shown in the table below. Press once toget the first character, twice to get the secondcharacter, and so on. When you need a spacebetween two characters, press
Holding down one of the keys for one second willgive you the option of lower case. Just press thekey again for one second to return to upper case.
How to edit a name and a phonenumber
Press CLEAR briefly one character will be deleted
Press CLEAR for one second the entire display will be deleted
How to store a nameand a telephone number
If you enter the phone number with the help of"+" followed by the national code you can useyour phone book abroad without having to thinkabout international codes.
1. Enter the phone number.
2. Press

The telephone will suggest that the name/numbershould be stored under the first vacant locationnumber.
4. Confirm the location number bypressing OK
How to select your ownlocation number
If you do not want to store the entry under thesuggested location number, you can select anumber of your own choice. Store frequentlyused numbers in location numbers 1 to 9 so thatyou can speed dial them by pressing only onekey (see page 13).
1. Store telephone number and name asdescribed previously in steps 1. to 3.
2. Press CLEAR and enter a locationnumber of your own choice (up to 3 digits).
3. Confirm by pressing OK
If you choose a location number that is occupied,the phone will give you the option of overwritingthe existing entry. If you do not want to overwritethe existing entry, press EXIT and the locationnumber suggested will be visible again.

PHONE BOOK
If you have a voice mail number stored in yourphone book this should be stored under loca-tion 1.
How to find a nameand a telephone number
1. Press
2. Enter one or more letters of the nameyou wish to find.
3. The name and telephone number will bedisplayed.
Names are normally displayed alphabetically.
If there is more than one name matching the en-tered letters, use the arrow keys to scroll throughto find the required name.
If there is no name to match the entered letters,the display gives you the best match in thephone book.
4. Press CALL to make the call.
When making a call the name will be shown onthe display. If the entry has no name the tele-phone number will be displayed.
Speed dialling
It is possible to make calls to any number storedin the phone book more easily by using the loca-tion number (up to 3 digits).
To be able to use the speed dialling function itmust be switched on (see page 30).
1. Press the location number for one second.
If the location number consists of more than 1 di-git, press the first digit(s) and hold the last digit forone second.

Fixed numbers
Your telephone offers you the possibility ofmaking an alternative phone book if this feature isavailable on your SIM card. With the help of thisalternative phone book you can restrict the use ofyour phone only to numbers stored in this specialphone book. This telephone book operates in ex-actly the same way as your ordinary phone book.
However, in order to be able to make such aphone book you need to have a PUK2 code fromyour network operator and to use a PIN2 code ofyour own choice.
See on page 32 under Phone book setup how tomake use of fixed numbers.
Own numbers
Some networks offer the possibility of havingmore than one phone number on the same SIMcard. For instance one for normal conversations,one for fax and one for data transmission.
This sub menu operates in the same way as theordinary phone book menu giving you the possi-bilities of finding, adding, editing and deleting theentries.
Prefix telephone numbers
In your phone book you can store prefix phonenumbers and add additional digits to these. Auseful feature if for instance you often call acompany with a switchboard with direct diallingfacility.
How to enter a prefix telephonenumber
1. Enter the prefix digits of the telephonenumber.
2. Hold down the -key for approx. 2 se-conds, and you will see a W on thedisplay.
3. Repeat, holding down the -key for eachcharacter you wish to add to the prefixnumber.
4. Press
5. Enter name and location numberand press OK

Your phone has memory for your last 10 dialledtelephone numbers.
How to see the listof last outgoing calls
1. Press to enter the List menu system.
2. SelectOutgoing calls and press OK
3. Scroll through the telephone numbers.
4. When the telephone number you wishto redial is displayed, press SELECT
5. Press CALL to initiate the call.
Shortcut to your last outgoing call
However, to use this facility you must enter thePhone setup menu and selectSpeed dialling on (see page 30).
1. Just press0 for one second and thecall is initiated automatically.
Who is calling?
Calling Line Identification (CLI) is a networkfeature whereby the phone numbers of callersto your phone are shown on your phone's display.If your caller is one of the entries that you havestored in your phone book, then his name willappear on your display.
To enable the telephone to identify the calls it is acondition that the network supports Calling LineIdentification.
Answered callsYour phone remembers the last 10 calls yourphone has received.
How to see the listof answered calls

2. Select Answered calls and pressOK

MISSED CALLS

Missed calls
Your phone remembers the last 10 incoming callswhich you did not answer.
The display will tell you how many missed callsyour phone has received. If, for instance, there are15 missed calls the standby display will show

As the telephone registers only identified calls inthe list, the number of missed calls shown on thedisplay and the number of phone numbers actu-ally listed may be different.
Immediate access to the list of missedcalls
1. Press
2. Scroll through the telephone numbersusing or
3. When the telephone number you wishto dial is displayed, press SELECT
4. Press CALL to initiate the call.
How to see the list of missed calls at alater moment
As soon as you have used the list, either to makea call or to view numbers, the symbol willdisappear from the display. However, the list willalways be available through the List menu system.
1. Press to enter the List menu system.
2. Select Missed calls and press OK
The telephone number will be deleted from thelist as soon as you have called it, but you canalways find it again in the list of last outgoingcalls.
How to copy a phone number fromone of the lists into your phone book
1. Press to enter the List menu system.2. Select the actual menu and the phone
number you wish to copy into yourphone book.
3. Confirm by pressing SELECT
4. Press to access your phone book.
5. Give the number a name and a locationnumber and press OK
How to delete call information
You can delete all entries stored in the Outgoing,Answered and Missed calls lists. Select the submenu Delete call information in thePhone book setup menu and select the list whichyou want to delete.

MESSAGES
Short Message Services (SMS)
Your phone can receive and send short text mes-sages via the network. On some networks youhave to subscribe to this facility.
There are two types of messages: point-to-pointmessages which you can both receive and send,and cell broadcast messages which you can onlyreceive.
Point-to-point messages
A new incoming message will be indicated by the
SMS indicator on the standby display, as wellas by a message tone (if enabled see page 26).
The display will also inform you how many newmessages there are for you.
How to read a new message
1. Press to access the messages.
The display will show date and time of receiptof each individual message.
2. Select the message you want to read bymeans of or and confirm bypressing SELECT
The phone number of the message sender will bedisplayed in front of the message. You can nowscroll through the message by using the arrow
keys.The message is automatically stored in the inboxif you do not delete it.
In addition to reading the message, you can either
delete it send a reply forward it to another phone number edit it before sending extract a phone number, if any, from the mes-
sage to call or to store in your phone book call back to the sender
1. Press OPTION
2. Select the option you wish to enterand confirm by pressing OK
3. The display will guide you throughthe next steps.
When a message has been read it will be indi-cated by a to the left of the date of receipt.
The SMS indicator remains on the standbydisplay as long as there are unread messsages.
Delete messages
If the SMS indicator is flashing, it indicatesthat the message memory is full.
You can delete all messages stored either in theInbox or the Outbox at the same time.

How to read a message again
1. Press to enter the List menu system.
2. Select Messages and press SELECT
3. Select Inbox by pressing OK
4. Scroll through the list of messages andconfirm your choice by pressing SELECT
How to send a message
Before you can send a message you have to enter
your network operator's telephone number forthis special service. Contact your network opera-tor to obtain this number. On page 29 you can seehow you enter this special phone number andhow to select validity period, transmission formatetc. once for all. If you do not specify these para-meters in the Setup menu system you will beasked for a specification each time you wish tosend a message.
1. Press to enter the List menu system.
2. Select Messages and press SELECT
3. Select New message by pressing OK
Start entering your message using the keypad inthe same way as you enter a name or a tele-phone number in the phone book. moves thecursor to the left, moves the cursor to the
right. Delete unwanted characters by pressingCLEAR.
If you want to use the -symbol in your SMSmessage press the -key briefly twice.
4. End your message by pressing OK
5. Select whether you wish to
Send messageat once or whether you wish toSave message
for sending it later on.
6. Confirm your choice by pressing SELECT
Having selected Send message the phonewill ask for a phone number to send the messageto. Either enter a phone number or select one
from your phone book usingThe message is automatically stored in OutboxunderMessagesin the List menu system.
How to edit an old message
1. Press to enter the List menu system.
2. Select Messages and press SELECT
3. Select Inbox or Outbox by pressingOK
4. Select the message you wish to editand confirm by pressing SELECT
5. Press OPTION
6. Select Edit message and press OK
A digit between the scroll indicators on the
display indicates the number of the individualmessages.

MESSAGES
Cell broadcast messages
To select whether you want the cell broadcast op-tion to be on or off you must enter the Messagesetup menu and select Broadcast setup(see page 31).
These are general messages broadcast to a groupof telephones and are available to network sub-scribers only. Cell broadcast messages are typi-cally local weather and traffic reports, stock mar-ket prices, sports results etc. If you have selectedRoaming, i.e. if you are abroad and connectedto a foreign network (see page 26), you may beable to receive cell broadcast messages fromother networks, too.
The messages are transmitted in numbered chan-nels and in general each channel will contain in-formation of the same type. Cell broadcast mes-sages may be sent out in different languages.Contact your network operator for further details.
Cell broadcast channel list
To be able to receive cell broadcast messages youhave to set up a list of the channels from whichyou want to receive information. See page 31 forhow to set up this list and to specify what kind ofinformation you wish to receive.
How to read a cell broadcast message
A cell broadcast message is scrolled twice on
the display at the time of reception. If you dontsee it at that time, you can read it via the Listmenu system by pressing , selectingMessages and then Broadcasts.
The display will show the Broadcast ID numberand you can thus identify the kind of messagereceived. Messages are read in exactly the sameway as Point-to-point messages. A read messagewill be marked by .
In addition to reading the message, you can either
delete it store it on your SIM card forward it to another phone number extract a phone number, if any, from the mes-
sage to call or to store in your phone book

calls if you are busy if you do not reply if there is no contact

Deactivation/activationIf your network does not support Phase 2 features,you will not be able to make use of the deactiv-ateandactivateoptions. In that case you mustcancel a call diversion by selecting Cancel.Next time you want your incoming calls diverted,select Register.
Calls can be diverted to a telephone numberstored in your phone book or to any other num-ber. Access your phone book by pressing orenter a phone number via the keypad.
If you have chosen to have all calls diverted, thecall divert indicator will be visible on thestandby display.
If you wish to suspend your calls being divertedfor a time, select Deactivate. All registra-tions will remain in the network, so next timeyou wish to divert your calls to the same number,simply select Activate.

You can set up call barring for different types ofoutgoing and incoming calls to restrict the use ofyour phone.
You have to activate the type of call barring youwish to set up. You are asked to specify whetheryou want the call barring to apply for all ser-vices, speech, data services, fax servicesormessage services (SMS).
When setting up or cancelling any call barring,you will be asked to enter your 4-digit passwordprovided by your network operator.
You can always see the status of the actuallyactivated call barring by selecting Status.
Outgoing call barring
Select All calls if you want to bar all out-going calls. Select International if youwant to bar international calls only. SelectRoaming if you want outgoing calls to bebarred when you are connected to a foreign
network this still leaves you the possibility ofmaking calls to your home country.
Calls to Emergency Services (see page 9) can stillbe made even if all outgoing calls are barred.

Incoming call barring
Select All calls if you want to bar all in-coming calls. Select Roaming if you wantincoming calls to be barred only when you areconnected to a foreign network.
Cancelling call barrings
Call barrings can be cancelled individually or byselecting Cancel all.
Call waiting
During a conversation your telephone can notifyyou that a new call is waiting. This is indicated bya special ringing tone in the earphone. To activatethis function just select Activate in the Callwaitingoption.
If you want to answer the new call press ANSWER
The active call will be put on hold automatically.
See page 10 for further details on how to handle
multi-party calls.If you do not want to answer the call, pressREJECT instead. You can have the new calldiverted to, for example, your telephone an-swering service. See page 24 for how to set upa call divert.
If you do not want to be disturbed by new in-coming calls you can disable the function byselecting Cancel in the Call waitingoption.
You can always see whether Call waiting isactivated or not by selecting Status.
Supplementary network services
Closed user groupThis is a network feature by which the use of yourtelephone is restricted to certain phone numberswithin a group defined by the network operatorand the owner of the SIM card. You may be amember of different groups. Each group has itsown ID number. The network defines whichgroup is your default user group. You have theoption of calling outside the group perhaps at ahigher charge. Contact your network operator forfurther information.
Unstructured supplementary services (USSD)On some networks you have the possibility ofsending unstructured supplementary servicestrings. An USSD service string should always beterminated by pressing the -key. Contact yournetwork operator for further details.
In order to be able to send USSD service stringsyou must enter the Phone setup menu and select
Speed dialling off . Pressing the relevantkeys 0 to 9 for one second will lead you to thealpha mode enabling you to enter letters and di-gits instead of only digits.

You have the option of selecting between 27 dif-ferent ringing tone patterns.
The selected ringing tone will sound at the rele-vant ringing volume level when making yourselection.
Trembler
If you have a trembler battery you can selectwhether the trembler should be active or notat an incoming call.
Message tone
Your telephone can alert you to the arrival of aSMS message by means of different alert tones.
Keypad tone
To help you keep check on your dialling, the

Language selection
The display language of your phone is normallythe national language of the country in which youpurchased your SIM card. If this is not the case the
display language will be English. You have theoption of choosing between different languages.(See page 8 for how to select language).
Automatic redial
If the phone number you are calling is busy oryour call is not answered, you can let yourphone make up to 10 automatic redial attempts.A special redialling success tone sounds when theattempt is successful. To cancel the auto rediallingattempts just press the left function key.
Network selection
When you wish to use your phone abroad, youhave to select a foreign network. This can bedone either manually or by letting your telephonedo it for you automatically.
In the automatic mode, your phone will auto-matically try to reach your home network first,then, alternatively to find another available net-work stored in a preferred list made by you (seepage 30).
In the manual mode, the phone will always startsearching for the network with which it was in
contact when it was switched off. If the phonecannot locate this network it will present somealternative networks on the display, and you canthen select one manually.
You can select any network from the list, butyour phone can get in contact only with co-operating networks (Roaming). The telephone canget into contact with other networks but only foremergency calls.
Your dealer or network operator can tell youwhich networks are co-operating.

Preferred list
The list of networks on your SIM card defines theorder of preference in which your phone will se-lect a network in automatic mode. Network ope-rators offer different services and call charges;therefore it may be beneficial for you to make apreferred list of your own. Enter the individualnetworks in your own order of preference andstore them on your SIM card.
To do this, you must access the Selection of net-work sub menu, select the Set preferred listop-tion and use to select the empty location inwhich you want to store the new network.Pressing EDIT will give you a list of availablenet-works. Scroll through the list using . Whenyou see a network you wish to store in your pre-ferred list, just press OK. If you select a currentlyused location and press EDIT, the former occu-pant can be deleted when you enter the new one.
Just press EXIT to leave the list as it was.
Once a network is stored in the preferred list, youcan always see the country and network code ofthe actual network by pressing EDIT in the Setpreferred listoption.
Power saving
To save your battery and thus increase bothconversation and standby times you can selectwhether you want the display contents to bevisible or not in standby mode.Select Display remains on if you want itto be visible, and Display switches offif you want it not to be visible. The display willswitch off after 3 minutes in standby mode.
In standby mode the display and keypad backlightwill always switch off after 10 seconds if your tele-phone is set to Backlight on. However, youhave the option of having the backlight switchedoff permanently by selecting Backlight off.
Car kit installation
This option is only effective if the phone is con-nected to a handsfree car kit. See page 36 formore information.
Welcome greeting
You can change the welcome greeting of yourphone according to your own wishes. Delete theold message by holding CLEAR, enter the newgreeting via the keypad and confirm by pressingOK .
Speed dialling
To speed dial using your location numbers, youhave to select Speed dialling on. If youdo not want to make use of this feature, selectSpeed dialling off.
Any key answer
You can answer an incoming call by pressing any
key you like except for the left function key andthe arrow keys if you selectAny key answer on.

Send message setup
Before you can send a message you have to enteryour network operator's telephone number forthis special service. Contact your network opera-tor to obtain this number.

6. Enter the SMS operator telephone number.Remember to add "+" and national codebefore the number.

The number will automatically be used for sen-ding all future messages.
Having stored a service centre number you havethe option of adding a new service centre, dele-ting a service centre or editing the number of anexisting service centre by pressing and con-firm your choice by pressing OK .
The option of storing more than one service cen-tre number may not be available with all SIMcards.
If for some reason your message cannot be deliv-ered, it will remain with your SMS operator for aperiod of time specified by you under Validityperiod.
Under the optionTeleserviceyou can specify inwhat format you want your messages to be sent -for instance select Text message if youwant to send it to another mobile telephone.
If the message has to be sent via several servicecentres to reach the recipent , some networksoffer the feature of sending a reply, if any, back to
you through the same chain of service centres.To keep this possibility open, you must enter theSend message setupoption and select
Reply path on.
Broadcast setup
To set up the list covering the kind of informationyou wish to receive, select the optionBroadcast channels. The display willshow you various locations in which you canstore the individual channels. Pressing EDIT willgive you a range of different kinds of information.
Use to scroll through the possibilities andconfirm your choice by pressing SELECT. Theselected kind of information is now stored in thechannel list. Proceed in the same way if you wantto receive other kinds of information.
Some network operators offer cell broadcast mes-sages in different languages. Select the optionBroadcast language and confirm yourchoice by pressing OK .
You can select whether you want the cell broad-cast option to be on or off by selectingBroadcast setting and using toselect whether the function should be on or off.

Fixed dialling
In order to enable you to make use of fixed dial-ling numbers stored in an alternative phone bookdefined by you, select Fixed dialling on.
To enable the alternative phone book you have toenter your PIN2 code. Having selectedFixed dialling on your ordinary phonebook will not be visible on the display and canthus not be accessed, but, of course, it will remainon your SIM card and can be accessed again byselecting Fixed dialling off.
Phone book sortingYou have the option of selecting whether youwant your phone book sorted by nameorbylocation.
Delete call information
You can delete all entries stored in the Outgoing,Answered and Missed calls lists. Select the submenu Delete call information andselect the list which you want to delete.
Call timers and charge
Your telephone can display the actual durationand cost of an ongoing conversation if you sowish. It can also show you the duration and costof the last call and all calls made with your SIMcard since the timer was last reset. However, thecall charge feature must be supported by yournetwork.
In order to be able to see the cost in the displayyou have to enter a unit priceand the actual cur-rency. You can also enter a maximumcall chargelimit, so that when this maximum has been rea-ched no more phone calls can be made.
To enter or change call charge and currency youwill be requested to enter your PIN2 code.

PIN code
To prevent misuse of your SIM card, e.g. if it is lostor stolen, you can select a PIN code to be enteredeach time you switch on the phone.
The PIN code is a 4 to 8-digit number of yourown choice, which you can change any timeyou like.
If you enter an invalid PIN code three times, yourSIM card will be blocked and to unblock it youhave to enter the PIN Unblocking Key (PUK) codesupplied by your network operator. This proce-
dure prevents unauthorized person from workingout your PIN code by repeatedly entering differentcombinations of numbers.
The display will inform you how many tries youhave left before the SIM card is blocked. If youenter an invalid PUK code 10 times, your SIMcard will be permanently blocked and you haveto contact your network operator to have it un-blocked.
Some SIM cards (not phase 1) use a PIN2 code foraccessing special functions. Contact your networkoperator for further information on PUK2 andPIN2 codes.

lock at a later time. You have 10 attempts before
the phone is blocked.
How to change password
If you subscribe to a call barring service your net-work operator will have supplied you with a 4-digit password. If you want to change this, selectNetwork password in the Security menu.

Hands-free car installation
When your phone is placed in the cradle, it willswitch on automatically with the car ignition. Youcan select whether you want the telephone toswitch off automatically with the car ignition aftera delay of 1 hour or whether you want to switch itoff manually.
If you have selectedSwitch off automatically
and want to switch your telephone off while theignition is still on, you must do so manually.
The display and keypad backlighting on yourphone will switch on and off automatically withthe car ignition. While the phone is switched onand placed in the cradle the backlighting willremain on continuously.
The battery will be automatically recharged asnecessary.
A telephone with an extended battery cannot beused in the hands-free car installation kit.
How to make a hands-free call
1. Enter the phone number you wish tocall or retrieve it from the phone book.
2. Press CALL to let the conversation takeplace via the external speaker andmicrophone.
3. Press END to end your call.
How to receive a hands-free call
1. Press ANSWER when the phone rings.
2. Press END to end your call.
By selecting Car kit auto answer onyou can set your telephone to answer a call auto-matically after 5 seconds. This option is only ef-fective when the car ignition is on.
If you have selected Any key answer onin the Phone setupmenu you can, of course,answer the call by pressing any key.

Desk top charge stand
The desk top charge stand is powered by meansof the charger supplied with your telephone.When the desk top charge stand is on the powerlamp will always show green.
When you place the telephone in the desk topcharge stand you have to make sure that thebattery symbols on the display start flashing. Thebattery takes one and a half to 7 hours to becomefully charged depending on the size of the battery.During charging the battery symbols on the dis-play of your telephone will flash on and off oneafter another. When the battery is fully chargedall 4 symbols are permanently displayed.
A telephone with an extended battery cannot becharged in the desk top charge stand.
The desk top charge stand has two sockets on itsback. When charging the telephone you use thesocket to the left side.
It is possible to connect a PC Combo card to yourtelephone while this is placed in the desk topcharge stand.
The PC Combo card is supplied with two wires.You can connect the card to the desk top chargestand by means of the wire you normally usewhen connecting the card to your telephone. Thiswire must be plugged into the socket to the left.
