Th e Five Features of Our Program

1. Twice-yearly admissions (in April and September) make it easier for you to join the program right aft er graduation in your home country.

2. Classes off ered according to Japanese language abilities. Instruction in keeping with your profi ciency level. (Six to nine classes, 10–20 students per class)

3. Electives covering all the subjects in EJU and other university entrance examinations (e.g. math, physics, Japan and the world).

4. Admission based on recommendation to Takushoku University and other educational institutes.5. Detailed instruction in preparation for national, public or private university or graduate school

examinations.

Students will build up Japanese skills from beginners' and intermediate levels to advanced levels (First term and Second term). Th e enriched curriculum will develop Japanese language abilities. Th ose who work hard to build up their Japanese skills will have the opportunity to skip levels based on the results of the placement exams given every six months. Students from countries that don't use kanji characters will be able to learn eff ectively enough to take entrance examinations for graduate and undergraduate programs at Japanese universities. Classes for the subjects on the EJU and JLPT exams will also be off ered.

1. Develop basic conversation skills for carrying out day-to-day activities.2. Students from kanji-using countries will learn more than 900 kanji, while students from countries which do

not use kanji will learn more than 400 kanji.3. Develop basic listening comprehension skills for carrying out day-to-day life activities.4. Using basic grammar, build the ability to express oneself in writing with short and simple sentences.5. Use easy reading materials matched to classrom textbooks to get used to reading.

Intermediate

1. Learn functional conversations that will promote smooth conversation with Japanese people.2. Students from kanji-using countries will learn all the joyo kanji (designated for daily use), while students

from countries which do not use kanji will learn more than 1,000 kanji.3. Develop listening comprehension skills for everyday conversation.4. Write passages that are accurate and have a proper overall structure.5. Improve reading skills with reading materials from a variety of fi elds (cultural, scientifi c, etc.)

Advanced (First term)

1. Treatment expressions will be emphasized for smooth communication.2. Learn to 2,000 kanji and vocabulary of 10,000 words.3. Develop listening abilities for understanding news (TV, radio).4. Write essays .5. Strengthen reading comprehension through Japanese novels, essays, reviews, etc.

Advanced (Second term)

1. Foster speaking skills to be able to debate and discuss with Japanese people. 2. Deepen understanding of kanji and vocabulary so they can be properly used in writing.3. Develop listening abilities for lectures.4. Learn methods of logical thinking for writing papers and thesis.5. Deepen understanding of Japan by reading a variety of novels, essays, reviews, etc.

IJLP off ers suffi cient facilities including a cafeteria and library to support students so that they can concentrate on their studies.

A cafeteria is available for students to use. Healthy meals planned for nutritional balance are off ered at a reasonable price.

After completing my undergraduate studies, I came to Japan hoping to undertake graduate study at a Japanese graduate school. One of my teachers

had recommended the IJLP at Takushoku University to me, and my decision to study at IJLP was also influenced by my strong interest in Japanese culture. The teachers at IJLP were extremely friendly and helpful, and very thorough in their approach to teaching. They also helped me a great deal when I was preparing my application documents for graduate school, by looking over the application materials for me to see if anything needed changing. Studying at IJLP also gave me the opportunity to make new friends among my fellow students. I am now looking forward to continuing my studies at graduate school in a Japanese university, and in the future I hope to work in the financial sector.

After graduating from university, I came to Japan because I wanted to develop a higher level of specialist expertise and undertake research on the

collaborative relationship between Japan and Vietnam. Aiming to improve my Japanese language skills and secure admission to a Japanese graduate school, I enrolled in the Intensive Japanese Language Program for Overseas Students (IJLP) at Takushoku University. The University is located close to Tokyo city center, and has a comprehensive range of facilities. I found that the teachers were very enthusiastic and dedicated, and were happy to help us with living-related problems. The fees at IJLP are also very reasonable compared to other schools, and the school arranged a variety of field trips, parties and other enjoyable activities for us. In the future, I hope to be able to work in a field connected to Vietnam-Japan relations.

After completing my undergraduate studies, I hoped to get a job in which I could use Japanese. However, because I was worried that my Japanese

language skills were not good enough, and because I had always wanted to study overseas, I decided to come and study in Japan. Based on recommendations from friends, and on my own perusal of the different schools＇ websites, I decided to enroll in the IJLP at Takushoku University. The deciding factor that led me to choose Takushoku University was that the University provides guidance to help students secure admission to graduate schools in Japan. When I was preparing to apply for entry to graduate school, the University staff listened attentively to my plans, and they were happy to offer advice. I also felt that the content of the teaching at IJLP was very comprehensive, and that the fees were very reasonable. In the future, I hope to be able to find work in the field of international cooperation, or become an interpreter.

After graduating from high school, I studied Japanese at a Japanese language school while working full-time. I had the opportunity to travel to Japan for

a year on a working holiday, and was able to visit various different parts of Japan during that time. I was enthralled by the beauty of Japan＇s natural scenery, and decided that I wanted to study in Japan. On the recommendation of one of the teachers at the Japanese language school that I was attending in Hong Kong, I decided to enroll in the IJLP at Takushoku University. I found that the teachers at IJLP were extremely enthusiastic; besides language instruction, they also taught us a lot about Japanese customs and social etiquette. They were also very helpful when I was trying to decide where to continue my studies.

After studying at another Japanese language school for one year, I enrolled in the IJLP at Takushoku University. Studying at the IJLP gave me the

opportunity to study not just Japanese, but also various other subjects, with English as one of the required subjects, and as a result I have been able to acquire a great deal of new knowledge. The teachers at IJLP speak many different languages, and if we had any questions they were always able to explain things to us quickly and precisely. I found that my Japanese listening and conversation skills improved dramatically. In the future, I hope to able to work either in the tourist sector, welcoming foreign tourists, or else as an international businessman in a multinational corporation.
