HANDS-ON COURSE DETAILS
COURSE CONTENT:
The course will cover the entire spectrum of technical aspects pertaining to liver and pancreatic surgery. Participants will be able to perform, portal vein resection and reconstruction, pancreatic resections and pancreaticojejunal& hepaticojejunal anastomosis on the harvested animal tissue model. This will go a long way in easing out the learning curve and attaining the required skill sets in order to perform these surgeries and ensure good outcomes. While a major part of the time will be dedicated to the hands on training, sometime will also be dedicated to an interactive case based didactic session to clarify decision making in a clinical scenario. Through faculty supervised hands-on training, the participants will be given a better understanding of & insight into the use of surgicaltechniques in daily HPB surgery practice, thus enhancing surgery & improvingpatient care.
It will be a half day course with didactic lectures, teaching videos & hands-on training. Participants can practice pancreaticojejunostomy, hepaticojejunostomy & hone their skills on portal vein anastomosis techniques. An orientation on anatomy relevant to pancreatic surgery - Pre operative imaging will be also provided through powerpoint presentation. The participants will also be demonstrated techniques of pancreatic surgery with videos
