كتاب مناقب الأنصار حديث:189

ثنا سفيان عن عبيد الله سمع ابن عباس رضي ثنا علي بن عبد الله حد 3850 - حدالله عنهما قال خلال من خلال الجاهلية الطعن في الأنساب والنياحة ونسي الثالثة

قال سفيان ويقولون إنها الاستسقاء بالأنواء Narrated Sufyan (b. Uyaynah): 'Ubaidullah said: "I heard Ibn `Abbas رضي saying, "Following are some traits of the people of the pre-Islamic الله عنهماperiod of ignorance (i) to defame the ancestry of other families, (ii) and to wail over the dead." 'Ubaidullah forgot the third trait. Sufyan said, "They

say it (i.e. the third trait) was to believe that rain was caused by the influence of stars (i.e. if a special star appears it will rain).

- SothesethreethingsarefromJahiliyyah.- The5irstofthemistodefamesomeonefortheirancestry/lineage.Apersonslineageistheiridentity.AndthisisthereasonthatAllahgivesinthequranalso:thatwehavemadeyouintonationsandtribessothatyouknowoneanother.Theyarejustinthisworldforthepurposeofidenti5ication.Thisiswhy,theywillnotexistonthedayofJudgment:

Lineages Lineage will not benefit a person on the day of Judgment

ور فلا أنساب بينهم يومئذ ولا يتساءلون (المومنون:101) • فإذا نفخ في الص

So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there beamongthemthatDay,norwilltheyaskaboutoneanother.- Sothereisnoneedtobeproudofoneslineage.Somepeopleareveryproudtobeofacertainrace/lineage,andthinkthatonthebasisofthattheyaremorerighteous/signi5icant,etc.butthiswillnothelpapersononthedayofJudgment

- Wehavemadesomeraces/families/lineagessuperiorandothersnotso,oflessersigni5icance-basedonthis,peopledonotinter-marryorengageinotherdealings.Thishasnothingtodowithourreligion.

It is not a reason for criticism

اع لـم ـا أنـتم ولـد آدم طـف الـص ول الـله صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم قـال إن أنـسابـكم هـذه ليسـت بسـباب على أحـد وإنم أن رسـين أو عمل صالح حسب الرجل أن يكون فاحشا بذيا بخيلا جبانا (مسند أحمد:17313) تملئوه ليس لأحد فضل إلا بالد

The Prophet (s) said, Your lineages are not a reason ofdefaminganyone.YouareallonlychildrenofAdam…andnonehassuperiorityexceptbywayofreligionorrighteousaction.Itissuf5icientforapersontobeafaahish(indecent-toaccuse/defamesomeonefortheirlineage).

Pride over lineage is from the time of Ignoranceرد غـليظ وعلى غـلامـه مـثله قـال فـقال الـقوم يـا أبـا ذر لـو كـنت بـذة وعـليه ب عـن الـمعرور بـن سـويـد قـال رأيـت أبـا ذر بـالـرأخـذت الـذى على غلامـك فـجعلته مـع هـذا فـكانـت حـلة وكـسوت غلامـك ثـوبـا غيره. قـال فـقال أبـو ذر إنى كـنت سـابـبت رجـلا وانـكم هم إخـ ـه فـشكانى إلى رسول الـله صلى الله عليه وسلم فـقال يـا أبـا ذر إنـك امـرؤ فـيك جـاهـلية قـال إنـ ته بـأم ـه أعجـمية فعير وكـانـت أم

بوا خلق الله [سنن ابی داود:5159] لكم الله عليهم فمن لم يلائمكم فبيعوه ولا تعذ فض

AbuDharrsaid:Iabusedamanwhosemotherwasanon-ArabandIreviledhimforhismother.HecomplainedagainstmetotheMessengerofAllahصلى الله عليه وسلم.Hesaid:AbuDharr!Youareamanwhohasacharacteristicofpre-Islamicdays.Hesaid:theyareyourbrethren;Allahhasgivenyousuperiorityoverthem;sellthosewhodonotpleaseyouanddonotpunish/hurtAllah’screatures.

The prohibition of boastingإن الله أوحى إلى أن تواضعوا حتى لا يفخر أحد على أحد ولا يبغى أحد على أحد [صحیح مسلم:7389]

Allah’sMessenger said: “Allah, theMost High has revealed tome that you (people) should be humble, so that no onetransgressesanother,andboaststotheother.”عـن بـن عـمر أن رسـول الـله صلى الـله عـليه و سـلم خـطب الـناس يـوم فـتح مـكة فـقال يـا أيـها الـناس إن الـله قـد أذهـب عـنكم عـبية الـجاهـلية وتـعاظـمها بآبـائـها فـالـناس رجـلان بـر تـقي كـريـم على الـله وفـاجـر شـقي هـين على الـله والـناس بـنو آدم راب قـال الـله { يـا أيـها الـناس إنـا خـلقناكـم مـن ذكـر وأنـثى وجـعلناكـم شـعوبـا وقـبائـل لـتعارفـوا إن وخـلق الـله آدم مـن تـ

أكرمكم عند الله أتقاكم إن الله عليم خبير } [سنن الترمذی:3270]

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: that theMessenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) gave aKhutbah to thepeopleon thedayof the conquestofMakkah,

and he said: "O you people! Verily Allah has removed theslogans of Jahiliyyah from you, and its reverence of itsforefathers.So,nowtherearetwotypesofmen:Amanwhoisrighteous,hasTaqwaandhonorablebeforeAllah,andawickedman, who is miserable and insigni5icant to Allah. People arechildrenofAdamandAllahcreatedAdamfromthedust.Allahsaid: ــنذكــــروانــثىوجـــــعلنكمشـــــــعوبــاوقــبائـــللــتعارفــواان ـاخـــلقنكممـ ـهاالــناسانـ يــايـعـــليمخـــبير الله اتــقىكمان createdhaveWepeople!youOاكـــرمــكمعـــنداللهyoufromamaleandafemale,andmadeyouintonationsandtribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the mosthonorable of youwithAllah is the onewho hasmost Taqwa.Verily,AllahisAll-Knowing,All-Aware(49:13)."ـا هـم فحـم جـهنم أو لـيكونـن أهـون وام يفتخـرون بـآبـائـهم الـذيـن مـاتـوا إنم عـن الـنبي صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم قـال لينتهـين أقــا هـو مـؤمـن على الـله مـن الـجعل الـذي يـدهـده الخراء بـأنـفه إن الـله قـد أذهـب عـنكم عـبية الـجاهـلية وفخرهـا بـالآبـاء إنم

تقي وفاجر شقي الناس كلهم بنو آدم وآدم خلق من تراب [سنن الترمذي:3955]

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: "People should stop boasting abouttheirfatherswhohavedied,whiletheyarebutcoalsofHell,ortheywillbemorehumiliatedwithAllah than thedungbeetlewhorollsdungwithitsnose.IndeedAllahremovedJahiliyyahfrom you, and its boasting about lineage. [Indeed a person iseither]apiousbeliever,oramiserablesinner.AndpeopleareallthechildrenofAdam,andAdamwas[created]fromdust.”- TheonewhoboastsovertheirancestorsismorehumiliatednearAllahthansuchacreature

The prohibition of looking down on othersعـن أبى هـريرة قـال قـال رسول الـله -صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم المسـلم أخـو المسـلم لا يـظلمه ولا يخذلـه ولا يـحقره. (صـحيح مسـلم

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) as saying: AMuslim is thebrother of aMuslim.Heneither oppresseshimnorhumiliateshimnorlooksdownuponhim.

- -Sostopandthink:wehavenorighttolookdownonanotherbecauseoftheirface,appearance,race,family,people,language…wedontknow:theymightbeveryhonourableneartheirLord,andsomeonewhowemightthinktobeveryimportantonaccountofthesematerial/worldlystandardsmaybeverylownearAllah.

NarratedAbuHurairah, he said: It is a serious evil for amanthatheshouldlookdownuponhisbrotherMuslim.

NarratedSahl:AmanpassedbyAllah'sMessenger(صلى الله عليه وسلم)andheasked (his companions) "Whatdoyousayabout this (man)?"They replied "If he asks for nikah (sends a proposal formarriage), he ought to be given her in marriage; and if heintercedes (for someone) his intercessor should be accepted;andifhespeaks,heshouldbelistenedto."He(صلى الله عليه وسلم)keptsilent,andthenamanfromamongthepoorMuslimspassedby,anheasked(them)"Whatdoyousayaboutthisman?"Theyreplied,"Ifheasksfornikkah,hedoesnotdeservetobemarried,andhe intercedes (for someone), his intercession should not beaccepted;Andifhespeaks,heshouldnotbelistenedto.'Allah'sMessenger(صلى الله عليه وسلم)said,"Thispoormanisbetterthansomanyofthe5irstas5illingtheearth.’- Meaningifthe5irstmanwasmutltipliedasmanyasthe5illoftheearth-allofthemwouldnotbeequaltothesecondone.The5irstonewassoimportantintheeyesofpeople,butsoinsigni5icantnearAllah.Butusuallywhatdoweworryabout:whatwillpeoplethink?Whatpeoplethinkofusdoesnotmatteratall-thevaluetheygiveus,theimportancetheygiveusisworthless…whathappenedtoQarun?whathappenedto

5iraunthemostpowerfulman?andwhathappenedtothePRophetswhowererejectedbytheirpeopleandnotgivendueimportance?

- Sonooneissuperiortoanotherbecauseoftheirlanguage/race/colour-itisonlywithTaqwa.

There is no superiority except with Taqwaيـا أيـها الـناس ألا إن ربـكم واحـد وإن أبـاكـم واحـد ألا لا فـضل لـعربي على أعجـمي ولا لعجـمي على عـربي ولا لأحـمر على

أسود ولا أسود على أحمر إلا بالتقوى [مسند أحمد:23489]

It is pride to consider oneself greater than othersالكبر بطر الحق وغمط الناس [صحیح مسلم:275]

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: Pride is disdaining the truth andcontemptfor(lookdownupon)thepeople.

Should not consider oneself even an atoms weight greater than anotherلا يدخل الجنة من كان فى قلبه مثقال ذرة من كبر [صحیح مسلم:275]

TheProphet(صلى الله عليه وسلم)said:HewhohasinhishearttheweightofamustardseedofprideshallnotenterParadise.- Sowhatshouldonedo?Howshouldoneprotecthimselffromthispride?- Lookatyouronfaults:theywillkeepyourfeetontheground- Whenyouachieveanything,doanything,praiseAllah-rememberitisonlybecauseHeenabledyouandfacilitateditforyou

- Neverdefame/insultanyonefortheirfamily

ThesecondthingfromJAhiliyyahisNawhah:wailing(whensomeonedies)

Wailing: نوحہ Cursed voice

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صوتان ملعونان في الدنيا والآخرة مزمار عند نعمة ورنة عند مصيبة [صحیح الترغیب والترهیب: 3527]

The Prophet (s) said, two voices are cursed in dunya andakhirah:singingandmusicatatimeofblessing,andwalilingatttimeofhardship-Thisisexactlywhatwedo:weddings/celebrations:weeitherhireprofessionalstosinganddanceforus,ordoitourselves…Andwhensomeonedies,thenwailingloudly!

The Prophet (s)’s dissociationاقة [صحیح البخاری:1296] القة والحالقة والش إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم برئ من الص

Verily theMessenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) has no concernwith thatwoman who wails loudly, shaves her hair and tears (hergarmentingrief).

قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ليس منا من لطم الخدود وشق الجيوب ودعا بدعوى الجاهلية [صحیح البخاری:1294]

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "He who slaps his cheeks, tears hisclothes and follows the ways and traditions of the Days ofIgnoranceisnotoneofus.”

The command to put earth in such a persons mouthعـن عـائـشة رضي الـله عـنها قـالـت لما جـاء الـنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قـتل ابـن حـارثـة وجـعفر وابـن رواحـة جـلس يـعرف فـيه الحزن وأنـا أنـظر مـن صـائـر الـباب شـق الـباب فأتـاه رجـل فـقال إن نـساء جـعفر وذكـر بـكاءهـن فأمره أن يـنهاهـن فـذهـب ثـم أتـاه الـثانـية اب فـقلت لـم يـطعنه فـقال انـههن فـأتـاه الـثالـثة قـال والـله لـقد غـلبننا يـا رسول الـله فزعـمت أنـه قـال فـاحـث في أفواهـهن التر

أرغم الله أنفك لم تفعل ما أمرك رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ولم تترك رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من العناء [البخاری:1299]

Narrated`Aishaعــــــــــــنهااللهرضــــــــــــيshesaid:WhentheProphet(صلى الله عليه وسلم)gotthenewsofthedeathofIbnHaritha,Ja`farandIbnRawahahesatdownandlookedsadandIwaslookingathimthroughthe chink of the door. A man came and told him about thecrying of thewomen of Ja`far. He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) ordered him to forbidthem. Themanwent and came back saying that he had toldthembuttheydidnotlistentohim.Heصلى الله عليه وسلمsaid,"Forbidthem."Soagainhewentandcamebackforthethirdtimeandsaid,"OAllah'sMessenger !(صلى الله عليه وسلم) By Allah, they did not listen to us atall."(`Aishaadded):Allah'sMessenger(صلى الله عليه وسلم)orderedhimtogo

andputdust in theirmouths. Isaid, (to thatman)"MayAllahstick your nose in the dust (i.e. humiliate you)! You couldneither (persuade the women to) ful5ill the order of Allah'sMessenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) nor did you relieve Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم)fromfatigue.“

Part of what the Prophet (S) made the women pledge toعن أم عطية قالت أخذ علينا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فى البيعة ألا تنحن فما وفت منا غير خمس منهن أم سليم . [مسلم:2207]

Umm 'Atiyya reported that theMessenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) tookpledge from us (including this promise) that we would notlament.Only 5iveamongstus ful5illed thepromise,andoneofthem(whoful5illedthepromise)wasUmmSulaim.

مرتين فكففت عن البكاء فلم أبك. [صحيح مسلم:2173]

UmmSalamareported:WhenAbuSalamadiedIsaid:hewasastranger(traveller)inastrangeland;Ishallweepforhiminamannerthatwouldbetalkedof.- Shewasabelievingrighteouswomananddidnotrealizethiswaswrong.Asthispartoftheircultureandtradition.Manytimes,therearepeoplewhoarerighteousotherwise,butattimesofmarriageanddeath,theysuccumbbeforetheirtraditionswiththeexcuse,‘Thisisalwaysdoneinourfamily’

Imadepreparation forweeping forhimwhenawoman fromtheuppersideofthecitycametherewhointendedtohelpme(inweeping). Shehappened to comeacross theMessengerofAllah(صلى الله عليه وسلم)andhesaid:DoyouintendtobringthedevilintoahousefromwhichAllahhasdrivenhimout?Hesaidtwice.So,I

(UmmSalama),therefore,refrainedfromweepingandIdidnotweep.-Thismusthavebeenextremelydif5icult.ITisverydif5iculttocontrolyourcryingwhenyouaresad.butherImanpreventedherfromdoingmunkar,itenabledhertoacceptthehaq.Ihearandobey.ShelistenedtotheProphet(s)rightaway

This is a Satanic traitلما افتتحصلى الله عليه وسلم مكة ؛ رن إبليس رنة اجتمعت إليه جنوده ، فقال : ايأسوا أن نرى أمة محمد على الشرك بعد يومكم

هذا ! و لكن افتنوهم في دينهم ، و أفشوا فيهم النوح .[السلسلة الصحيحة:3467]

WhentheProphet (s)conqueredMakkah, Ibliswailedagreatdeal,sohisarmiesgathered,andhesaid,despair!wewillneverbeabletoseetheummahofMuhammad(s)onshirkafterthisdayofyours…butcreate5itnah(discord)intheirreligion,andspreadwailinginthem.- Whatisthe5itnahthatiblishascreatedinmuslims?Many-wedifferovermanythings,butourdifferencesendupinseriousdivision:wewillseparateourmasajid,wewilllookdownononeanotherbecauseofhowtheyprayordontpray,howtheypronouncetheletter‘daad’

The deceased is hurt because of thisب بما نيح عليه [صحيح البخاري:1291] من نيح عليه يعذ

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: He who is lamented upon would bepunished because of the lamentation for him on the Day ofjudgment.- Thisisifhelikeditwhenhewasaliveandapprovedofit.Hewantedthatheshouldbecriedoverinthisway-sothatthepeoplewouldknowhowimportantandlovedhewas:thereisacompetitionindeathalso(howmanypeopleprayed,howmanypeoplementioned,howmuchwasitcoveredontv?)

- Ifhedisapprovedofitandneverwantedit,andstoppedhisfamilyfromitwhenhewasaliveandtheydoitanywaywhenhediesthenheisnot

punished,becausenoonewillbepunishedforthesinofanother(laataziruwaaziratanwizraukhraa)

- wehavebeguntocelebratedeath:specialclothes,foods,lights,lamps…weshouldreallythink,inwhicheraareweliving?InIslamorjahiliyyah?‘dotheydesirethehukmofIgnorance?’IfwewanttoliveIslamthenwemustadoptitfully…

- weshouldnotdesiretobecomepopularatourdeath-becausesomepeopledogetalotofattentionwhentheydie…weshouldnotseekpopularitythroughdeath.Yes,weshouldhavethewishthatmanymanypeopleprayforus.

ب ببكاء الحي إذا قالوا وا عضداه وا كاسياه وا ناصراه وا جبلاه ونحو أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال الميت يعذهذا يتعتع ويقال أنت كذلك أنت كذلك [سنن ابن ماجه:1594]

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “The deceased is punished for theweepingof the living. If theysay: ‘Ohmystrength,Ohhewhoclothed us, Oh he who helped me, Oh my rock (source ofstrength),’andsoon,Sohe(thedead)isrebukedanditissaid:‘Wereyoureallylikethat?Wereyoureallylikethat?’- Meaning,thebigthingsthatpeoplesayaboutyou-areyoureallythat?Whenpeoplepraiseusforwhatwearenot,weshouldnotbehappythere…itisofhypocrisy:theylovetobepraisedforwhattheydonotdo.Thisisakindofdeception.

- Sowhenpeoplepraiseyoulikethat-declareyourdissociationfromit

Important note- Ifapersonwantedthathisfamilyshouldcryforhimthenheisguilty-itisapersonsdutytostoptheirfamilyfromwrongdoing,andifapersondoesnotstopthemwhenheisalivefromthisactthenheisguilty

ـا مـر رسول الـله صلى عـن عـمرة بنـت عبـد الرحـمن أنهـا أخبرته أنهـا سـمعت عاـئـشة رضي الـله عنـها زوج النـبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قـالـت إنمب في قبرها [البخاری:1289] الله عليه وسلم على يهودية يبكي عليها أهلها فقال إنهم ليبكون عليها وإنها لتعذ

Narrated `Amrah bint `AbdurRehman, she said I heard `AishaAllah'sOncesaying:asصلى الله عليه وسلمProphettheofwifetheرضـــــــــــياللهعـــــــــــنهاMessenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) passed by (the grave of) a Jewess whoserelatives wereweeping over her. He said, "They are weepingoverherandsheisbeingtorturedinhergrave.”

The Sahabah forbade this practiceث قـال صـدرت مـع عـمر رضي الـله فـقال ابـن عـباس رضي الـله عنهما قـد كـان عـمر رضي الـله عـنه يـقول بـعض ذلـك ثـم حـدعـنه مـن مـكة حـتى إذا كـنا بـالـبيداء إذا هـو بركـب تـحت ظـل سـمرة فـقال اذهـب فـانـظر مـن هؤلاء الركـب قـال فـنظرت فـإذا صهـيب فأخبرته فـقال ادعـه لي فرجـعت إلى صهـيب فـقلت ارتحـل فـالـحق أمير الـمؤمنين فلما أصـيب عـمر دخـل صهـيب يبكي يـقول وا أخـاه وا صـاحـباه فـقال عـمر رضي الـله عـنه يـا صهـيب أتبكي علي وقـد قـال رسـول الـله صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم إن

When'Umarwaswounded,Suhaibcamewailing:Alas, forthebrother!alasforthecompanion! 'Umarsaid:OSuhaib,doyouwail forme,whereas theMessenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:" Thedeadwouldbepunishedonaccountof the lamentationof the(membersofhisfamily)”.- Controllingyourselfinsuchasituation,whenyouareovercomebyemotionandpainisverydif5icult.Butthisisthetest:doyougiveupbeforeyournafs?SeekrefugewithAllah,thatoAllahprotectmefromtheevilofmynafs.Themorningdua:OAllahprotectmefromtheevilofmynafs,andfromshaytan-thatIshouldfallpreytohistraps.

Deprivation from khayrعـن ابـن الـمنكدر قـال سـمعت جـابـر بـن عـبد الـله رضي الـله عنهما قـال جـيء بأبي يوم أحـد قـد مـثل بـه حـتى وضـع بين يـدي ي ثـوبـا فـذهـبت أريـد أن أكـشف عـنه فـنهاني قـومـي ثـم ذهـبت أكـشف عـنه رسـول الـله صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم وقـد سـجفـنهاني قومـي فأمـر رسول الـله صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم فرفـع فـسمع صوت صـائـحة فـقال مـن هـذه فـقالوا ابـنة عـمرو أو أخـت

NarratedIbnMunkadir thatIheardJabirbin`AbdullahرضــــــــــــــــــیwasfathermyUhud,ofBattletheofdaytheOnsaying:الـــلہعـــنہماbroughtandhehadbeenmutilated(inbattle)andwasplaced

infrontofAllah'sMessenger(صلى الله عليه وسلم)andasheetwasoverhim.Iwent intending to uncover my father but my people forbademe;againIwantedtouncoverhimbutmypeopleforbademe.Allah'sMessenger(صلى الله عليه وسلم)gavemeorderanditwasuncovered.Atthat time he heard the voice of a crying woman and asked,"Who is this?" They said, "It is the daughter or the sister of`Amr."Hesaid,"Whydoessheweep?orsaiddonotweep, forthe angels hadbeen shadinghimwith theirwings till he (i.e.thebodyofthemartyr)wasshiftedaway.”

The Prophetصلى الله عليه وسلم said: If the wailing woman does not repentbefore she dies, she will be made to stand on the Day ofResurrectionwearingagarmentofpitchandacloakofrust.

NarratedYazidbinAws,hesaid:IentereduponAbuMusawhilehewasingreatpain(duetoillness).Hiswifebegantoweeporwasgoingtoweep.AbuMusasaidtoher:DidyounothearwhattheMessengerofAllah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said?She said:Yes.Thenarratorsaid:She thenkeptsilence.WhenAbuMusadied,Yazidsaid: Imetthewomanandaskedher:WhatdidAbuMusameanwhenhesaid toyou:Didyounothearwhat theMessengerofAllahofMessengerThereplied:Shesilence?keptyouthenand(صلى الله عليه وسلم)

Allah(صلى الله عليه وسلم)said:Hewhoshaves(hishead),shoutsandtearshisclothingdoesnotbelongtous.

Believing the efficacy of stars- -Believingthatstarshaveanaffectonfate-orbecauseoftheirfallingrising,therearecertainaffects:

:Three types of علم نجوم

1. Tobelievethatstarsinandofthemselveshaveanaffectonwhathappensintheworld:becauseofthestarsrainfalls,orsomeonedies,etc.Thisisshirk

2. Tobelievethattheirmovement/positions/speedpredictcertainevents(fortunetellingthroughstars)

3. IlmTasyeer-Theirpositions/movementindicatetime,seasons,etc.Fore.g.,ustazahsharedwhenshewouldvisithergrandparents,hergrandmotherwouldgetupfortahajjudbycheckingthepositionofthestars-thatthestarishere,soitistimefortahajjudnow.ThereisnothingwringwiththisasthisismentionedintheQuran:bythestarstheyobtainguidance:meaning:oftimeanddirection.

The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: If anyone acquires anyknowledgeofastrology,heacquiresabranchofmagicofwhichhegetsmoreaslongashecontinuestodoso.

Prohibition of believing in the starsزمـان ثـلاثـا إيمـانـا بـالـنجوم وتـكذيـبا بـالـقدر وحـيف عـن طـلحة بـن مصرف رفـعه إن أخـوف مـا أتـخوفـه على أمـتي آخـر الـ

السلطان [السلسلة الصحيحة:1127]

What I fearmost formyUmmah in the end of times is threethings:believinginthestars,denyingtheDivinedecreeandtheoppressionofrulers.

أخاف على أمتي من بعدي خصلتين: تكذيبا بالقدر وتصديقا بالنجوم . [صحیح الجامع الصغیر :215]

The Messenger of Allahصلى الله عليه وسلم said: I fear the two traits in myUmmahafterme:denialofthefateandcon5irmingthestars.

One must not even take interest in thisإذا ذكر أصحابي فأمسكوا وإذا ذكر النجوم فأمسكوا وإذا ذكر القدر فأمسكوا .[السلسلة الصحيحة:34]

theProphet(s)said,whenmycompaniosnarementionedthenrefrain (from speaking), when the stars are mentioned thenrefrain (from speaking), and when the Divine Decree ismentionedthenrefrain(fromspeaking)- REfrainfromtakinginterestinthesetopicseven.Donotmentionthefaultsofthecompanions:whytheydidwhattheydid,etc.

- Donottalkaboutthestars:donotaskpeople:whatisyourstar?andwhenyouareasked,whatisyourstar-donotsayanything,nocomment-amsikoo!

- AnddonotasktoomanyquestionsabouttheDivineDecree.

Allahhassaid,'Inthismorningsomeofmyslavesremainedastrue believers and some became non-believers;whoever saidthat the rainwasdue to theBlessingsand theMercyofAllahhadbelief inMeandhedisbelieves in thestars, andwhoeversaidthatitrainedbecauseofaparticularstarhadnobeliefinMebutbelievesinthatstar.'“- believingintheaffectofstarsisalsoakindofkufr

عن أبي الدرداء قال: قحط المطر على عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فسألناه أن يستقي لنا [فاستقى] فغدا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فإذا هو بقوم يتحدثون يقولون: سقينا بنجم كذا وكذا ! فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ما أنعم

الله على قوم نعمة إلا أصبحوا بها كافرين [السلسلة الصحيحة:3039]

Stars have no relationship with the fate of peopleعـن عـبد الـله بـن عـباس قـال أخبرنى رجـل مـن أصـحاب الـنبى صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم مـن الأنـصار أنـهم بينما هـم جـلوس لـيلة مـع رسول الـله صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم رمـى بنجـم فـاسـتنار فـقال لـهم رسول الـله صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم مـاذا كـنتم تـقولون فى الـجاهـلية إذا رمـى بمـثل هـذا قـالوا الـله ورسولـه أعـلم كـنا نـقول ولـد الـليلة رجـل عـظيم ومـات رجـل عـظيم فـقال رسول الـله را سـبح حـملة رمـى بـها لـموت أحـد ولا لـحياتـه ولـكن ربـنا تـبارك وتـعالى اسـمه إذا قضى أم ها لا ي صلى الـله عـليه وسـلم فـإنـنـيا ثـم قـال الـذيـن يـلون حـملة الـعرش ماء الـد ماء الـذيـن يـلونـهم حـتى يـبلغ التسـبيح أهـل هـذه الس الـعرش ثـم سـبح أهـل السماء موات بـعضا حـتى يـبلغ الخبر هـذه الس لحـملة الـعرش مـاذا قـال ربـكم فيخبرونـهم مـاذا قـال قـال فيسـتخبر بـعض أهـل الـسرمـون بـه فما جـاءوا بـه على وجـهه فـهو حـق ولـكنهم يـقرفـون فـيه مع فـيقذفـون إلى أولـيائـهم وي نـيا فتخـطف الـجن الـس الـد

'Abdullah. Ibn 'Abbas reported: A person from theAnsarwhowas amongst the Companions of Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم)reported to me: As we were sitting during the night withAllah's Messenger ,(صلى الله عليه وسلم) a meteor shot gave a dazzling light.Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: What did you say in the pre-Islamic days when there was such a shot (of meteor)? Theysaid:AllahandHisMessengerknowbest(theactualposition),butwe,however,usedtosay that thatverynightagreatmanhad been born and a greatman had died,whereuponAllah'sMessenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: (Thesemeteors)are shotneitherat thedeathofanyonenoronthebirthofanyone.Allah, theExaltedandGlorious,issuesCommandwhenHedecidestodoathing.Then (theAngels) supporting theThrone saysHis glory, thensays the dwellers of heaven who are near to them until thisgloryofGodreachesthemwhoareintheheavenofthisworld.Then those who are near the supporters of the Throne askthesesupportersoftheThrone:WhatyourLordhassaid?AndtheyaccordinglyinformthemwhatHesays.Thenthedwellersof heaven seek information from them until this information

reachestheheavenoftheworld.Inthisprocessoftransmission(thejinnsnatches)whathemanagestooverhearandhecarriesittohisfriends(fortune-tellers).AndwhentheAngelsseethejinntheyattackthemwithmeteors.Iftheynarrateonlywhichtheymanagetosnatchthatiscorrectbuttheyalloyitwithliesandmakeadditionstoit.- Thisisthereasonwhysomeofwhatfortunetellerssaycomestrue,butthisdoesnotmeanthateverythingtheysayistrue.Andiftheyaresayingsomethingitisnotbecauseoftheirownexpertise:itistheirtheftandcooperationwithshayatin.

- Evenif1%ofwhattheysaycomestrue-stilldonotlistentothem,believeinwhattheysay:

The worship of the one who goes to a fortuneteller is wastedء لم تقبل له صلاة أربعين ليلة [صحیح مسلم: 5957] عن النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم قال من أتى عرافا فسأله عن شى

TheProphetصلى الله عليه وسلم said:Hewhovisitsadiviner(‘Arraf-fortune-teller) and asks him about anything, his prayers extending tofortynightswillnotbeaccepted.

Confirming the fortuneteller is to reject the shariahد صلى الله عليه وسلم [مسند احمد:9536] قه بما يقول فقد كفر بما أنزل على محم عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال من أتى كاهنا أو عرافا فصد

The Prophetصلى الله عليه وسلم said: 'Whoever goes to a fortuneteller andbelieves what he says, he has disbelieved in that which wasrevealedtoMuhammadصلى الله عليه وسلم.’

Deprivation from high ranksعن أبي الدرداء مرفوعا لن يلج الدرجات العلى من تكهن أو تكهن له أو رجع من سفر تطيرا [السلسلة الصحيحة: 2161]

- Whenyougotosomeoneforsometreatment/ruqyaetc.iftheyaskyouthenameofyourmother,thenrunawayfromthere-therearejinninvolvedinthis

- Horoscope/believinginstars-peoplesayifyouareofaparticular‘star’thenyouhavecertaintraits..thisisalsoproblematic

- Whenanyonetellsyousomethingoftheunseen-bylookingatyourcoffee,orhair,orlinesonyourhand-thatisproblematic

The real reason why some things that fortune tellers say come true

جاجة فيخلطون فيها أكثر من مائة كذبة [صحیح البخاری:6213] يخطفها الجني فيقرها في أذن وليه قر الد

Narrated `Aisha: Some people asked Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم)about the fore-tellers. Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said to them,"Their(predictions)arenothing(i.e., liars)."Companionssaid,'O Allah's Messenger !(صلى الله عليه وسلم) Sometimes they tell somethingwhichcomesouttobetrue."Allah'sMessenger(صلى الله عليه وسلم)said,"Thatwordwhich comes to be true iswhat a jin snatches away bystealing and then pours it in the ear of his fore-teller with asound similar to the cackle of a hen, and then they add to itone-hundredlies."
