    Indian Oil Corporation, or IndianOil, is an Indian

    state-owned oil and gas company. It is Indias

    largest commercial enterprise, ranking 105th on

    the Fortune Global 500 list in 2009. IndianOil andits subsidiaries account for a 47% share in the

    petroleum products market, 40% share in refining

    capacity and 67% downstream sector pipelines

    capacity in India. The Indian Oil Group ofCompanies owns and operates 10 of India's 19

    refineries with a combined refining capacity of

    60.2 million metric tons per year.

    IndianOil's product range covers petrol, diesel,

    LPG, auto LPG, aviation turbine fuel, lubricants,

    naphtha, bitumen, paraffin, kerosene etc. Xtra

    Premium petrol, Xtra Mile diesel, Servo lubricants,

    Indane LPG, Autogas LPG, Indian Oil Aviation are

    some of its prominent brands.

    IndianOil recruits bright and professionally qualifiedpeople for its executive cadre.

    For open recruitment advertisements are published in

    leading national dailies.

    The candidates meeting the criteria set by IndianOil arethen called for a written test.

    They are further called for group discussion/ group task

    and interview.

    IndianOil visits the IITs, NITs and other reputed

    technical institutes of the country for recruiting final

    year engineering students.

    It recruits students from prominent business

    management institutes for final year MBA students.

    It also recruits Chartered Accountants from various

    centres of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of

    India (ICAI).

    Minimum of 65% marks in Engineering or BusinessManagement from recognized institutes.

    Only full-time regular courses from recognized

    Indian universities/ institutes are considered .

    For Boiler Operation Engineers (BOEs), therequirement of minimum 75% marks in the

    qualifying Engineering Degree examination is

    applicable.

    Not exceeding 26 years for

    Engineers/Graduate/Management Graduates (HR)

    Relaxation in upper age limit by 5 years is

    extended for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen applicants, 3

    years for OBC & 10 years for physically

    handicapped persons.

    Medical Examination as prescribed under

    these guidelines will be conducted by

    Corporations Medical officer / AuthorizedMedical Officer / Designated Nominated

    Hospitals only, who shall be the competent

    authority to certify a candidate as Medically

    Fit / Unfit / Temporarily Unfit. However,IOCL reserves the right to re-examine or

    review a medical report.

    Where a candidate is found to be

    temporarily unfit by reason of short termsickness which is curable within a period of

    not more than eight weeks, the candidate

    will be informed by HR department for re-

    examination on advice from doctor

    Physically challenged persons may be selected

    against the identified Posts, where such personscan perform their duties with reasonable

    efficiency and without undue physical strain or

    hazard.Any change in the nature of the job of this

    category will require re-medical examination for

    ascertaining suitability of the candidate for the

    job

    For open recruitment, the selection methodology

    comprises -Written Test, Group Discussion / Group

    Task and Personal Interview for assessment of

    different facets of knowledge, skill, attitude and

    aptitude

    Candidates will have to pass through each stage of

    the selection process successfully before being

    adjudged as suitable for final selection.

    The selected candidates are trained in institutes

    like IIPM. They have to clear out theory papers to

    start working in organization.There is no on job training, as it is too risky to

    handle petroleum products due to its explosive

    and harmful nature.

    Existing employees are sent for one month

    training in three years, the training is normally a

    theoretical one, and the employees are graded on

    a written test.

    Indian oil follows both seniority and merit

    policies of promotion for officer grade and

    management.

    But for workman grade they follow only

    seniority policy for promotion as the

    worker union doesnt support merit base

    promotion.
