Univers i ty Prof i le : Jadavpur Univers i ty has or
igina ted from Nat ional Counci l of Educat ionestabl i shed by the
doyens of the then Bengal inte l l igents ia . Since 1906 the
Counci l had tointensi fy i t s t echnica l educat ion ac t ivi t i
es through the Bengal Technica l Ins t i tute la te r namedas the
Col lege of Engineer ing & Technology, Bengal funct ioning as a
Nat ional Univers i ty
exclus ive ly under na t ional cont rol . Govt . of W.B. wi th
concurrence of the Govt . of Indiaenacted legis la t ion to give a
s ta tutory recogni t ion to the Nat ional Counci l under the name
of
Jadavpur Univers i ty on the 24 th December , 1955. At
present the Univers i ty has threeFacul t ies : Engineer ing &
Technology, Sc ience and Arts . The Facul ty of Engineer ing
&Technology runs 16 (s ixteen) B.E. courses , 3 ( three) 5-year
(Evening) Engg. Degree courses ,
2 ( two) Post B.Sc . B.Tech. courses , thi r ty-seven (37) Post
Graduate Courses(M.E. /M.Tech. /M.Arch. /M.Pharm/ Evening M.E.
/M.Tech. ) wi th a lot of spec ia l i sa t ion andM.C.A. course .
At present most of the courses a re approved by AICTE. Some courses
a reUnivers i ty approved. However , these courses a re recommended
by AICTE Commit tee wi thin
the f ina l approval process of AICTE. Jadavpur Univers i ty was
dec lared, a long wi th four otherUnivers i t i es of India , as
the Univers i ty having ‘Potent ia l for Excel lence’ . The Univers
i ty has
been reaccred i ted wi th a CGPA 3 .61 on 4 po int scal e
a t “A” Grade by NAAC.

Provis ional Admiss ion Let te r for a
sea t of Jadavpur Univers i ty i ssued by the WB-JEM for Joint
Ent rance Examinat ion (JEM -
2012) for Admiss ion to Engineer ing, Medica l /Technologica l
Degree Col leges a t any of theReport ing Centers provided the

RS.25,460/ - DRAWN IN FAVOUR OF REGISTRAR, JADAVPUR
UNIVERSITY, PAYABLE AT KOLKATA ( ENROLMENT NO. , RANK,
NAME OF THE STUDENT AND ALLOTTED DEPT. MUST BE WRITTEN
IN BLOCK LETTER ON THE REVERSE SIDE OF THE BANK
DRAFT /DD).
IT IS NOTED THAT CANDIDATE WILL BE PAID BALANCE AMOUNT (IF ANY)
