• The early years 1850-1900
– Utbyggnad av järnväg drev utveckling. Inköpsfunktion upprättas Rapporterar till VD
• Growth of Purchasing Fundamentals (1900 – 1939)
– Rutiner och processer – fokus på råmaterial
• The war years (1940 – 1946)
– Brist på material tydliggjorde inköpsfunktionens betydelse
• The quiet years (1947 – mid 1960s)
– Inköpsavdelning ett nödvändigt ont…..
– Ford inser dock betydelsen och inrättar analysavdelning
• Material Management (mid 1960s to mid 1970s)
– Planering, inköp och lager samorganiseras
– Leverantör på armlängds avstånd, prisfokus

Kort historisk återblick forts.
The global era (mid 1970s to 1999)
Ökad teknisk komplexitet – specialisering
Fokus på kärnverksamhet – outsourcing
Andel inköpt värde av total kostnader i företag ökar
Globalisering
Kundorderstyrd produktion & ökad betydelse av låg kapitalbindning
Mindre produktions batcher
Flera produktvarianter
Krav på kortare ledtider från leverantör
Koordinering av inköpsaktiviteter genom www.
Leverantörer och därmed inköpsfunktionen ökar i betydelse
Integrated Supply Chain Management (2000 - )
Inköpsfunktionen styr leverantörsnätverk

Three levels with focus on Total Cost. Who does what?
Objectives
Strategic
Process improvement
• Consider fundamental process
• Process re-engineering
• Major outsourcing issues.
Tactical
Focus on improvement suppliers
and contracts portfolio.
• Identification of major internal
and external cost drivers.
Operational
Managing of supplies and performance
measurement of suppliers.
• Suppliers feedback.
• Monitor performance.
• Supplier selection
• Volume allocation.
• Cost to product
allocation.

Grunder sammanfattning
• Inköp hanterar relationerna med leverantörerna
• Leverantörerna levererar varor och eller tjänster
• Leverantörerna återfinns i ”Leverantörsreskontran” (ej LÖN eller SKATT)
• Inköp kan även definieras Avtal – Beställning
Grunder sammanfattning forts.
Definitions of the notions of purchasing, procurement and supply
I will not say that there are as many definitions as there are professors or associations but it seems like it!!
Definitions
SIS - Standard
• ”Att leda en mervärdesskapande Inköpsorganisation” (CWA-PUMA ; SIS-CWA 15896-1:2009)
• Inköp finns även berört i ISO 9001
Definitions Logistics
• Logistics - (business definition) Logistics is defined as a business planning framework for the management of material, service, information and capital flows. It includes the increasingly complex information, communication and control systems required in today's business environment. -- (Logistix Partners Oy, Helsinki, FI, 1996)
• Logistics - The procurement, maintenance, distribution, and replacement of personnel and materiel. -- (Websters Dictionary)
Procurement
Van Weele’s definition:
”The management of the company’s external resources in such a way that the supply of all goods, services, capabilities and knowledge which are necessary for running, maintaining and managing the company’s primary and support activities is secured at the most favorable conditions ”
25
Definition purchasing.
• Where procurement and supply processes are still developing, so are the definitions. Compared with that the definition of purchasing is more clear cut.
• It covers the six by now classic activities Specify, select, contract, order, monitor and aftercare.
• Differentiation in tactical- and operational purchasing. The cut is between contracting and ordering.
• Strategic purchasing. In essence part of procurement. Focus is on improvement of fundamental process, business proces reengineering and major outsourcing issues.
