Wow, the First Annual Joe Beaver Jr. Superstars Roping was a greatsuccess. Just like the multi world champion host himself, the event

showed signs of perfection with quality staff, great venue, great cattleand just an overwhelmingly awesome sense about it. The April 1-4 eventheld at the Wildfire Arena in Salado, Texas offered a unique and trulyprofessional event that is sure to grow for year to come.

Maybe it was the 370 contestants that made up 1,250 runs in 3 days, the awesome prizes handed out to winners, or just the chance tocompete, win and enjoy the sport that made the event so successful, butask anyone who was there and you can be sure they have already madeplans to return next year. Everyone loved the program making a tribute tosome past Jr. Roping Champions, as well as all the great sponsors. Theprofessional help of so many made the event run off quickly, allowingeveryone a chance to relax, enjoy the event and be prepared and rested, ready to compete.

In addition to the formats that allowed many ways for contestants tocompete and win, the event hosted a reunion roping on Thursdayopening up the entries to past students of both Joe and Walter. Thisunique format was a blast and everyone enjoyed the competition. Foryears both Joe and Walter have been dedicated to helping others achievetheir calf roping goals and this event solidifies their achievement with somany returning to compete and even winning part of the great event.

Benefit Roping for Boo Fullbright

Twelve-year-old Boo (Lil Dale) Fullbrightmust be very grateful for the benefit ropingheld in his honor on Saturday, March 27,

2010. After being shot accidentally Boo is in need oftherapy and plans to work hard to recuperate asquickly as possible so he can continue what he loves, roping calves. He is a good little calf roper and withthe financial help provided by the ropers thatattended Saturday’s roping he will have the help heneeds to continue his therapy. After being postponed because of the previous

weekend of snow and ice, the weather was windy bynice and the ropers enjoyed participating to help outBoo and his family. Bob-bo Foster produced the event which included

a silent auction, Ladies Breakaway roping, 12 &Under Breakaway roping, EE, OO, 1 and 2 combinedand an Open calf roping. There were 13 LadiesBreak-away ropers, 10 in the 12 & Under Breakaway,14 EE ropers, 21 OO ropers, 27 in the 1 and 2combined roping, and 24 Open ropers. Fans alsoenjoyed watching an exciting match between BlakeDeckard and Steve Brickey. Each roper put up $500

and after roping six head Steve came from behind towin the match with an average of 61.58. Deckardwasn’t far behind with a 62.67 on six. What a match!Mark Holder provided the calves for the event

which were complimented by all the ropers. Bob-bo would like to thank everyone that

attended the benefit and helped with the auction andjackpot. Without all the donated items and labor itwould not have been as successful. Good luck to Booand his family and best wishes for a quick recovery.

Is It Your Turn?EE Roper, Edsel Rhodes, joins #2 roper, Justin

ie-down roper Trent Creager, who hailsfrom Stillwater, Oklahoma, worked hisway through a field of great tie-down

ropers including eight past WranglerNational Finals Rodeo qualifiers to securethe win at this year's Dodge NationalCircuit Finals held in Pocatello, Idaho. Hisrun of 7.8 seconds in the Finals beat outropers, J.C. Malone of Utah, Wes Lockardof California and home-state favorite MattShiozawa.

The calf roping was hot from the startwith Matt Kenney of Iowa setting the pace inthe first round. He won the round with a

time of 7.8 seconds. You had to make a rununder 9 seconds to earn any of the top sixmoney spots in the round. Creager claimedthe final sixth position setting up his run forthe championship.

Wes Lockard came out gunning in thesecond round, taking the win with a 7.7second run. Again Creager claimed the sixthposition and the final money slot in theround with a run of 9.3 seconds. Creagerhad two solid times, but was tied with thesecond round winner, Lockard, as theyheaded towards the Semi-Final round.

By the time Creager roped in theSemifinals, 2008 DNCFR champion MattShiozawa of nearby Chubbuck, Idaho, hadalready tied his two-year-old arena recordwith a 7.3 second run. Creager backed offand settled for a solid run of 8.9 seconds toassure his place in the Finals

The top four ropers coming out of theSemi-Finals took aim at the overall 2010DNCFR championship. When the dust

settled, it was a battle between twocowboys. Shiozawa posted a no time whilegunning for the win and Lockard finishedwith a 17.6-second run, pushing the barrierjust a little too much in the big round. TrentCreager bested J.C. Malone’s time by almosta full second to secure the win. Creagerroped his final calf in 7.8 seconds andMalone roped and tied his in 8.7 seconds toclaim the runner-up position.

The DNCFR is a great place to see thehot handed talents of many of the world'sgreatest rodeo competitors who may not bein the spotlight all of the time. The PRCA’scircuits allows these competitors a chance tocompete and enjoy the sport while stayingcloser to their homes, where they can keepa steady job, stay close to their families ormaintain ranches. Once a year these topcompetitors head to Idaho to compete for atitle that they can be very proud of.Congratulations to Creager for anoutstanding job at this years DNCFR.

Despite a frustrating weekend atthe Red Bluff (Calif.) Round-Up,Trevor Brazile remains in reach ofbreaking his own all-aroundcowboy record for surpassing$100,000 in earnings at the earliestpoint in the season. With his $741 in tie-down roping

money at Red Bluff, Brazile has totalall-around earnings of $91,553 andhe has rodeos at Clovis, California, and Lufkin, Texas, to get him the$8,447 he needs to hit six figures.Brazile surpassed $100,000 in

season earnings in Tulsa, Oklahoma,on May 14, 2006, the earliest thatany all-around cowboy has hit thatmilestone by a margin of five weeks(also Brazile, in 2008). A year ago, he reached April 20

with total earnings of $53,366.Brazile did manage to cut $232 off

Stran Smith’s lead in the tie-downroping world standings and is nowjust $1,250 out of first place. And for those eagle-eyed fans

who notice that Brazile’s totalearnings in team roping, tie-downroping and steer roping come to$368 more than his all-around total –it is not a mistake. Brazile, limitedto 70 all-around rodeos in hisseason count, as opposed to 100 intie-down roping, opted to unofficialthe all-around at Henderson, Texas, where he won, that’s right, $368 inthe tie-down roping.

I asked about his family and he saidhe had a few kids, a mother andgrandmother scattered in differentstates. I told him, “You must havesomeone in your family who has spent alot of time praying for you.” He said hedid and that he believes in God. One ofhis sons followed in his footsteps in thegang life and was killed. Curtis had aslang quote that pretty much summed

verse Numbers 13:33 Moses hadsent twelve spies into the Promised Landto look at it. Two of them came back andsaid, “That’s our land.” The other ten said,“We were as grasshoppers in their sight.”My question is how do you see yourself?

Yesterday I was in Los Angeles waitingto catch a flight. I started into a Denny’s toeat breakfast when a bum rode up to meon his bicycle and asked me for money. Itold him I didn’t have any cash but invitedhim to eat breakfast with me. Duringbreakfast I learned that Curtis is

things up for him, “It is what itis.” During our meal Curtisbecame polite, quiet spoken and it was obvious that he was very intelligent.

After we parted company, Ibegan to wonder if Curtis knewthat what he was doing woulddetermine what he wouldeventually have or be. It alsomade me look at my life and think about how I view myself.Because that’s where it reallystarts – with your self-image. If Ilook in the mirror and don’t likewhat I see then I need to changemy environment.

Do I see myself as a guy whocomes through in the short roundor do I see myself as someonewho can’t possibly tie a calf inseven seconds when needed? No,I view myself as the guy that canget the job done, whatever thatjob may be.

How I see myself in everydaylife is just as or more important. How well do I handle things? Do I snap at people? Am I quick tobe ill, to judge or to be mad aboutlittle things? If I see that, then Ineed to change that picture, notjust change the way I think about it.

It’s like looking in the mirrorand then deciding to get in shape. If you change your diet and workout eventually your image in themirror will change. Makingchange physically or spiritually isalways possible. It just takeswork, time and the knowledgethat it won’t happen overnight.

There is an interesting verse in Jeremiah thatbrings a question from God; I thought it mightbe an interesting question to ask you today.

Jer 12:5 “If you have run with the footmen, andthey have wearied you, then how can you contendwith horses? And if in the land of peace, in which youtrusted, they wearied you, then how will you do inthe floodplain of the Jordan?”

A few years back in an indoor arena in the middleof winter during a practice session of calf roping, afriend of mine commented to another friend that hishorse was so slow he could outrun him on foot! Well, the challenge turned into a considerable amount ofmoney being gambled on the abilities of the man andthe horse in the race. To make a long story short, theman did out run the horse in a short distance race. Ihave to admit that I wasn’t surprised because thehorse was pretty slow.

In Jeremiah’s case the point is that when they werein relative peace, and had many needs and wants met, they continued to test God’s patience with worry, complaints, and disobedience.

I believe the United States of America is still thegreatest nation in the world. However, I also believethat the coming years will become increasinglychallenging because of the lack of wisdom, and lack ofstewardship of debt to foreign countries. This willeventually allow our world to move toward a one worldorder and monetary system prophesied in the Bible.

Listen to what has been passed by our electedofficials in the new Health Care Bill, H.R. 3200. Pleaseunderstand this is NOT a political statement, it is arevelation of the times we live in and a challenge topay attention to, not only our country but also theprophetic words of Scripture.

The new health care bill provides for implanting aRFID microchip, to be implemented 36 months afterthe Bill was signed into law. The microchip [now anoption] – when fully implemented – will provide the“framework” for making the United States the firstnation in the world to require it’s citizens to have

implanted in them a radio-frequency identification(RFID) microchip for the purpose of controlling whois, or isn’t, allowed medical care in their country.

You can check it out for yourself and draw yourown conclusion. Healthcare Bill H.R.http://waysandmeans.house.gov/media/pdf/111/AAHCA09001xml.pdf•Pages 1001-1008 “National Medical DeviceRegistry” section.

•Page 1006 “to be enacted within 36 months upon passage”

•Page 503 “… medical device surveillancehttp://www.fda.gov/downloads/Medical.../ucm072191.pdf”WE MUST NOT NEGLECT THE PROPHETIC

WORDS GOD HAS WRITTEN TO OUR NATION,AND THE WORD OF REVELATION TO THEWORLD CONCERNING THE END TIME. This isnot an attempt to cause fear or even to incite politicalaction.

LISTEN TO THE WORD CONCERNING THETIME THE BIBLE CALLS THE TRIBULATION:

Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small andgreat, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a markin their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, savehe that had the mark, or the name of the beast, orthe number of his name.

If we have problems prioritizing our relationshipwith God when times are relatively peaceful, runningwith the horses may not be an option when timestruly get tough.

morning, just after I wake up, Ithink of five positive things in mylife. It may be things I am lookingforward to, things that havealready happened or just thethoughts of my family that I add to the daily collection ofpositive thoughts.

I have to say, doing this eachmorning makes a huge difference.I did this for a long time, but forsome reason quit. Looking back, I am not sure why I quit. I believe it may have becomeredundant and I got tired of it. Butnow that I know that, I know Iwill have to continue to keep itfresh with new positive aspects oflife each and every day.

I hope you all do the same. Ibelieve keeping things positive inlife is key to being successful. Iknow people are different andsome may have to do more thanothers in this area. But I knowthat seeing the good in thingsrather than the negative can makethe difference in everything. Frommaking a solid 8-second run toenjoying your family and friendsto the fullest, making each dayspecial with positive thoughts isone way to make it all happen!
