What is MacTube?MacTube is a geotextile container used for:
MacTube geotextile containers are constructed ofhigh-strength woven geotextile fabrics that are strong
and durable. Manufactured in a sand colour to blendin with its surrounding, the geotextile fabric is woven in a rip-resistant weave pattern for maximum resistance todamage.
MacTube geotextile containers are easy to install, both above and below the water surface. As a softarmored structure, it offers minimal impact to the environment while providing a cost effective alternative to
hard structures.
Protecting CoastlinesMacTube geotextile containers can be
used in the design of several types of coastal
engineering structures:
Revetments -to protect against erosion ofshoreline adjacent to existing buildings.
Groins -installed perpendicular to andextending out from beaches to restore orprotect beaches.
Breakwaters -installed parallel to beachesoffshore to restore or protect beaches.
Dikes -constructed to form a containmentarea in which to pump dredge spoils and canalso be used for land creation.
Dune Cores -to construct an artificialdune that will subsequently be covered and
revegetated.Reefs -installed offshore to replace naturalreefs.
Hydraulically filled with sand,MacTube geotextile containers
can use on-site materials.

DredgingDredged material can be easily contained anddisposed of, or reused, using MacTube geotextilecontainers. Placing and constructing geotextilecontainers is simple and cost effective with minimal
impact on the environment. Plus, the extremelystrong, high-strength woven geotextile fabic providesincreased confidence in material containment.
Additionally, MacTube geotextile containers filled
with dredged material provide the opportunity to usethe consolidated material in other structures like dikeconstruction and wetland creation.
DewateringMacTube containers offer maximum versatility
and ease of use for all your dewatering needs. They are a cost-effective alternative to the beltpress method of dewatering sludge and eliminate
the need for expensive capital expenditures forequipment. By using MacTube containers fordewatering, you can increase the efficiency andreduce dewatering time.
MacTube containers are filled through a
reinforced port using a hydraulic dredge pump. The porosity of the geotextile fabric allowsexcess water to drain from the tube resulting in
an effective and relatively inexpensive method ofdewatering.
In some instances, environmentally safe polymersare added to aid in coagulating solids and
releasing water. As the excess water drains, thetube can be refilled multiple times.
Once the tube is filled to capacity, the materialinside will continue to dewater. The amount of
dewatering time depends on the type of materialbeing dewatered, the use of polymers and othersite conditions. After dewatering is completed,
the tube can be cut open and the solid materialremoved and disposed of in a landfill.
MacTube geotextile containers are the perfectsolution for dewatering when space is limited. With a small foot print and the ability to stack
tubes, you can set up a dewatering operation justabout anywhere.
