Cultural Notes餐巾要放在腿上

从餐桌上拿起餐巾，先对折，再将褶线朝向自己，摊在腿上。绝不能把餐巾抖开，如围兜般围在子上，或塞在领口。而把餐巾的一角塞进口眼或腰带里，也是错误的方法。假如衣服的质地较滑，餐巾容易滑落，那应该以较不醒目的方法，将餐巾的一角塞进腰带里，或左右两端塞在大腿下。

餐巾是用来擦拭嘴巴餐巾当然是为了预防调味汁滴落，弄脏衣物。但是，最主要的还是用来擦拭嘴巴。吃了油腻的食物后满嘴油渍，若以这副尊容与人说话，委实不雅。况且喝酒时还会把油渍留在玻璃杯上，更是难看。至于口红也是同样要用餐巾略擦一擦，避免唇印沾在酒杯上。

餐巾用毕无须折叠整齐用餐完毕要站起来，首先将腿上的餐巾拿起，随意叠好，再把餐巾放在餐桌的左侧，然后起身离座。如果站起来后才甩动或折叠餐巾，就不合乎礼节了。餐巾用完后无须折叠得太过整齐，但也不能随便搓成一团。如有主宾或长辈在座，一定要等他们拿起餐巾折叠时才能跟着动作。

中途暂时离席时，须让餐巾从餐桌上垂下一角宴席中最好避免中途离席。非暂时离席时，许多人会把餐巾叠好放在椅子上，这种处理方式并没有错，因为餐巾摆放在桌上容易被误会已经离席。其实，最理想的方式是用盘子或刀子压住餐巾的一角，让它从桌沿垂下，当然脏的那一面朝内侧才雅观。
