In Jalna district itself 2.78-lakh hectars cotton has been infested with the pink bollworm. According to Agriculture department about 8-lakh-hectare land of cotton is infested in the state. The companies claimed that BT cotton which was introduced in 2012 controls bollworm due to which the yield is pro- tected and thereby it reduces the use of insecti- cides meant for bollworm. Recently, water supply minister Babanrao Lonikar hinted that the seeds com- panies would be dragged to the court for compensation as they are responsible for damaging the crops. The issue was also echoed in the general body meeting at Jalna zilla parishad on Saturday. The members demanded the government should lodge criminal com- plaints against the seed companies for cheating and duping the farmers. The ZP members said nearly ninety per cent of cotton farms in Jalna were affected and they stated that the State Government should seek compensation for the losses farmers have incurred. District president of Sawabhiman Sanghatana, Sainath Chinadore said that the pink bollworm has added to their woes of alraedy distressed farm- ers. District agriculture officer Dashrat District Agriculture officer, Dashrath Tambhal has cotton growers to report in prescribed forms of their damaged crops in respective tehsil and block agriculture officers. Police said that the jeep was coming towards Aurangabad, while the motorcyclists were on way to Beed. According to an eyewit- ness, the motorcyclist tried to overtake a vehicle. In this attempt, the motorcycle was hit by the jeep which was coming from the opposite direction. The rider Vishnu Baban Barde (26) and pillion rider Sandeep Bisan Shinde (24, both residents of Bhalgaon) sustained severe injuries. The villagers called in the ambulance and admitted the victims to the govern- ment medical college and hospital. Bike-borne youths hurt in accident LOKMAT NEWS NETWORK AURANGABAD, DEC 4 The State Government has failed to take any decision on the draft submitted by Language Advisory Committee (Bhasha Sallagar Samiti) about policy of Marathi language in next 25 years. After a gap of seven years, the government formed the commit- tee to fix the policy of Marathi language in next 25 years. The committee led by Dr Sadanand More submitted the draft to the Languages Department five months ago. When contacted the languages department, its officers informed that the process of get- ting approval for draft would begin after taking opinions from other departments. Chief secre- tary will call a meeting of prin- cipal and additional secretaries of 30 departments soon. However, it is not clear as to when meeting will be held. The Languages Department will take final decision on the draft after receiving opinions from all the departments. This indicates that it will take much time for the implementation of new policy. Persons from liter- ary field feels that issue of giv- ing classical language status to Marathi is pending with the Centre, at least State govern- ment under its power should clear policy of Marathi lan- guage. Earlier, the government had set up a committee led by Justice (retd) Narendra Chapalgaonkar in 2010 to suggest measures for the development of Marathi. The implementation of com- mittee’s measures too were delayed. Another committee led by Dr Nagnath Kottapalle was formed in 2014. The final draft of his commit- tee too did not get approval. After this, further process will commence. ˘More panel submitted the draft five months ago LOKMAT NEWS NETWORK NANDED, DEC 4 Finding the rosters made by the Zilla Parishad faulty, resulting in over 250 teach- ers from open category as surplus, the state govern- ment has issued an order to reverify the rosters recently. The rosters made by the Zilla Parishad at different times from the year 2002 till date, have done injustice with 599 teachers from the open category in the dis- trict. A roster made in 2002 had mistakenly shown 234 teachers from backward class community to be in the open category. Same thing happened in the ros- ter made in the year 2010 where 125 teachers from backward community selected through the Common Entrance Test (CET) were shown to be in the open category and at the same time 41 teachers from the backward commu- nity, who enjoyed benefit of age relaxation, were shown in open category. Same thing happened in the year 2014 March where 199 pro- moted headmasters from backward community were also shown in the open cat- egory. This has all resulted in injustice with the candi- dates of open category. The matter was brought to the notice by the Open Category Employees Association to chief execu- tive officer (CEO) of zilla parishad, education offi- cers concerned, divisional commissioners and princi- pal secretary of rural development department. The government has issued order recently to verify the roster and pre- pare it again by constitut- ing an independent com- mittee consisting of Dy commissioner at divisional level, additional CEO of ZP, Dy CEO and social welfare officer of ZP. A group of Shiv Sena activists gave him a sound bash before handing him over to the police. The librarian has been identified as Shaikh Shafiq (40). According to the details, a B Sc II year stu- dent girl resides in Samarthnagar. She went to the library for getting a book and demanded it to Shafiq, who groped her and further misbe- haved while handing her over the book. Unexpected move of the librarian shocked the girl and she moved 5-10 steps back, but the brazen librari- an continued misbehave with her. She raised an alarm and in response many students came to her rescue. The news of the inci- dent spread like a wildfire and a group of Shiv Sena workers head- ed by Chhotu Zirpe, Rajendra Janjal, Sagar Patil and others reached the spot and beat Shafiq up black and blue before handing him over to the Kranti Chowk police. The librarian has been identifiedas Shaikh Shafiq (40). Accordingto the details, a B Sc II year stu-dent girl resides in Samarthnagar.She went to the library for gettinga book and demanded it to Shafiq,who groped her and further misbe-haved while handing her over thebook.

Unexpected move of the librarianshocked the girl and she moved 5-10steps back, but the brazen librari-an continued misbehave with her.

She raised an alarm and inresponse many students came toher rescue. The news of the inci-dent spread like a wildfire and agroup of Shiv Sena workers head-ed by Chhotu Zirpe, RajendraJanjal, Sagar Patil and othersreached the spot and beat Shafiqup black and blue before handinghim over to the Kranti Chowkpolice. A case has been registeredin the police station.
