  • Explanatory Notes on the Final Assessment

Kua Tutuki / Me Mahi An

An unsatisfactory grade in any or all assessment areas constitutes an incomplete in that area (Kore i Eke - Incomplete) and will automatically attract a final assessment of Me Mahi An Resubmit. Where an assessment of hua Pai Satisfactory is given for all of the assessment areas, it is at the discretion of the marker to deem the work completed Kua Tutuki or to be resubmitted, Me Mahi An. Clear explanations must be given as to why a grade of Me Mahi An Resubmit has been awarded and advice must be given on how a final assessment of Kua Tutuki Completed can be achieved. This can be in the form of detailed notes made in the margin of the student assignment document, on the marking guide, in a note appended to the marking guide or / and a meeting or phone call with the student. A resubmit must be seen as an opportunity to improve rather than a sign of failure. The final assessment Kua Tutuki or Me Mahi An in the top panel of the marking guide will be circled.

The sentence and paragraph structure is compact and there is a consistent link between paragraphs and sections that lead to a convincing conclusion.

Tino pai Very good Sound debate is provided based on clear reasoning and analysis of key concepts.

A convincing list of authorities has been used and referenced appropriately.

There is a clear structure to the discussion and it is easy to follow its flow throughout.

He pai Good There is a clear understanding and discussion of the topic based on sound reasoning, intuition and development of ideas.

There is a good range of relevant authorities that have been used to support discussion. These have been referenced accurately.

The work is easy to read and generally there is a good flow and development of ideas.

hua pai Satisfactory There is a basic grasp and understanding of the topic and concepts with developing skills in reasoning, intuition and argument.

There is evidence of research capacity to support the ideas presented but sources used have not been referenced consistently.

There is an identifiable structure to the work presented. Basic grammar and spelling errors have detracted from its quality.

    Kore i eke Unsatisfactory

There is little evidence of reasoning, intuition or understanding of the topic.

There is little evidence of wider reading and what sources that have been used have not been properly referenced.

The structure of the paper is haphazard with no logical flow of ideas. The writing is inadequate for this level of study.
