Odvajanje & spajanjeMaria ima snagu prirode u sebi. njena umjetnost ogleda se kroz njenu narav i njenu osobnost. ja imam tu sreću da dugo vremena poznajem oboje: njenu umjetnost i njen život. Mogu reći da su rijetki umjetnici koji uspiju povezati to dvoje u harmonično postojanje: kako pronaći balans i zadržati ga? Ona je uspjela sa ovom serijom radova da postigne to na više načina. njene slike pričaju nevjerovatne priče ali sa konačnom jednostavnošću. abstraktnost ima želju u sebi da prenese priču koja je svima nama primarno bliska, priču koju cijelu vječnost ljudski rod pokušava da spozna i razumije. Upravo Marijine boje prenose tu priču vječnosti. Ona im dopušta da u isto vrijeme u sebi sakupljaju emocije. Ona tim emocijama otvara vrata svojoj publici da joj se približi ali i da se poveže sa osobnim pitanjima i spoznajama. Ona nas poziva da sanjamo. Marijine slike su intimne i univezalne. One su iskrene i snažne. One su bučne i odvažne. ali u sebi nose i toplinu i nježnost. svaki potez je ustvari ona, njeno razmišljanje i sanjarenje…svaki potez je dio njenog postojanja.

Odvajanje & spajanje: neka božanstvo preuzme vodstvo

Odvajanje & spajanje u mom je isključenje iz brzog tempa tehnološkog svijeta u kojem živim i umjesto toga treba izabrati da se povežu s mojim, te dopustiti božanstvu da preuzme vodeću ulogu mom stvaranju umjetnosti. tehnologija u mnogočemu čini naš život lakšim i još sretniji. da li je to stvarno? popis svojih pozitivnih i negativnih učinaka je beskrajan. Osjećam da je ravnoteža u tome kako ćemo se nositi sa novom tehnologijom. Kako može biti moguće da ovi mali predmeti i aplikacije mogu biti više ovisni od šećera? Kako to da ne možemo uzeti u ruke naše male sjajne crne mobilne uređaje?! Kako ćemo pronaći ravnotežu između našeg stvarnog i digitalnog života? vjerujem da je jedini način da se zaustavite na trenutak i razmislite o vašem ponašanju. shvatila sam da je svaka sekunda koja ide u mom životu nekako utječe na način tehnologije koja se razvija. nekako sam kroz svoje ponašanje i emocije dopustila da manipulira programer koji je stvorio uređaje, aplikacije, ili web stranice koje koristim. Bez mog znanja postajem nečiji zamorac; gdje su moji osjećaji, akcije i bilo koji drugi tip ponašanja zabilježen od nekog drugog je plodan pothvat! Za sada moja namjera je da se napravi pomak i izvuče utikač iz tehnologije i njegovih tehnoloških uređaja, te ako je moguće ukloniti sebe iz svog trenutnog okruženja. cilj je pronaći ravnotežu kroz kreativnost, maštu i božanstvo. Rad se sastoji od slika iz sažetka reprezentacije i koristeći niz fotografija i video zapisa, tekstove, knjige, letke, pisma, predmete, događaje i procese, okupio je ambiciozni pokušaj da se ponovno otvori rasprava i pokrene kreativni odgovor i ponašanje nad korištenjem tehnologije i njegovog odsutva.

BiOGRaFija

Maria Lanas rođena je u ekvadoru, Quito, u dobi od jedanaest godina nakon čega se preselila s obitelji živjeti u potomac, Md, gdje još uvijek boravi. Maria je diplomirala sa BFa diplomom na corcoran college of art and design. sudjelovala je na skupnim izložbama u sad-u, ekvadoru, njemačkoj i Bosni. trenutno je slobodni umjetnik i radi na komercijalnom radu specijaliziranom za dizajn interijera i murale.

Kao slobodni umjetnik imala je priliku raditi s tvrtkama koje su lideri u ovoj industriji, kao što su silver Hill atelier vodeća tvrtka u proizvodnji ručno oslikanih freska i ukrasnih završi i sa Hargrove inc nagrađivanom izložbom, posebanim događajem, na sajmu izvođača. s tim tvrtkama radila je na raznim komercijalnim projektima diljem sad-a, za klijente kao što su the cheesecake Factory, Mtv networks, L’Oreal, i vH1, te političke konvencije u Republikanskoj i demokratskoj stranci. Kao slobodni umjetnik Maria je izabrana za dizajn i boje jedan od trideset i pet “prase banka” čiji kipovi ukrašavaju ulice national’s capital One programa stash Your cash campaign.

tijekom karijere napravila je razne doprinose svojih umjetnina za različite dobrotvorne svrhe.

Ostvarila je doprinos umjetničkim radom u spanish coalition za radna mjesta, inc’s je” iza sna “tihoj aukciji u chicagu illinois. Lanas je također sudjelovala kao sponzor za adeW novčane priloge pri Organizaciji američkih država za potrebite djece i starijih osoba iz ekvadora.

Bila je istaknuta umjetnica za artcan 2013 sa svojom najnovijom rad pod nazivom “infuzije”.

Bila je priznata za doprinose kako bi se skupio novac i svijest te kako bi pronašli lijek protiv raka gušterače. njezina serija ‘infuzija’ također je dio priče preživljavanja raka podrške: seize the days portal. nedavno joj je serija infuzija dodana u posebnu zbirku jscholarship: johns Hopkins Medicine special collections. jscholarship dizajniran je za prikupljanje, distribuiranje i očuvanje digitalnih materijala koji se odnose na istraživanje nastavka mislije johns Hopkins.

volontiranje i obrazovanje u biti je dio zajednice koja je njoj bila važna. volontirala je u docent programu u national portrait Gallery poučavajući povijest Latinske amerike o portretiranju.

discOnnect & cOnnectMaria Lanas is a force of nature. Her art reflects her personality and strength. i have been fortunate to know both: her life and her art. Rare are artists who can connect the two into a harmonious existence: to find a balance and to hold on to it. she has managed with this series to accomplish this on many levels. these paintings speak volumes with ultimate simplicity. their abstraction carries a story of that which is near to us on a primal level but that which has all humanity struggled to describe, and to comprehend. she lets the colors tell their story. she lets the colors hold emotions. she opens the doors for the viewer to connect and imagine. these paintings are personal and universal. they are honest and strong. they are bold and loud. they are gentle and kind. she carries them in every moment of her being.

discOnnect & cOnnect: Let the divine take the Lead

disconnect & connect is about my disconnection from the fast paced technological world in which i live in and instead choose to connect with my higher self and allow the divine to take the lead into my creation of art. technology in many ways makes our lives easier and even happier. But does it really? the list of its positive and negative effects is endless. i feel that there has to be a bal-ance in how we handle these new technologies.

How can it be possible that these little objects and applications can be more addic-tive than sugar? How come we can not take our hands off these little shiny black mo-bile devices?! How do we find a balance between our real and digital lives? i believe that the only way is to stop for a moment and think about our behavior. i realized that every second that goes by my life is somehow influenced by the way technol-ogy is being developed. somehow i am allowing my behavior and emotions to be manipulated by the programmer/developer that created the device, application, or websites that i use. With out my knowledge i have become someone’s guinea pig; where my feelings, actions and any other type of behavior is recorded for some one else’s fruitful endeavor! For the time being my intention is to make a shift and disconnect from technology and its tech devices and if possible remove myself from my current environment. the purpose is to find the balance through creativity, imagination and the divine. the work comprises paintings from the representational to the abstract using an ar-ray of moving and still images, texts, books, pamphlets, letters, objects, events, and processes, brought together an ambitious attempt to reopen discussion and initiate a creative response and behavior over use of technology and the absence of it.

Maria Lanas was born in Quito- ecuador and at the age of eleven she moved with her family to live in potomac, Md where she still resides.

Maria graduated with a BFa from the corcoran college of art and design.

she has participated in group exhibitions in the United states, ecuador, Germany and Bosnia.

she is currently a Free-lance artist and does commercial work specializing in faux finishes and murals.

as a free-lance artist she had the opportunity to work with companies that are leaders in this industry such as silver Hill atelier an industry leader in the production of custom hand- painted murals and decorative finishes and with Hargrove inc an award-winning custom exhibit, special event, and trade show contractor. With these companies she worked in various commercial projects around the United states for clients such as the cheesecake Factory, Mtv networks, L’Oreal, and vH1, political conventions for both the Republican and democratic parties.

as a free-lance artist Maria was chosen to design and paint one of thirty five “piggy bank” statues decorating the streets of the nation’s capital for capital One’s program stash Your cash campaign.

throughout her career she has made various contributions of her artwork to different charities.

she has made contributions of her art work to the spanish coalition for jobs, inc’’s “Beyond the dream” silent auction in chicago illinois.

Lanas has also participated as a sponsor for adeW’s Fund Raiser at the Organization of american states for the needy children and elderly of ecuador.

she was a featured artist for artcan 2013 with her latest work called ‘infusions’.

she was recognized for her contributions to raise money and awareness to find a cure against pancreatic cancer.

Her ‘infusions’ series is also part of the cancer survival stories support: seize the days portal. Recently her infusions series was added to the jscholarship’s special collection : johns Hopkins Medicine special collections. jscholarship is designed to gather, distribute, and preserve digital materials related to the johns Hopkins research and instructional mission.

volunteering and education and being part of the community has been important to her as well. she volunteered in the docent program at the national portrait Gallery teaching about the History of Latin american portraiture.
