About FiltaOdorTM biolter technology
FiltaOdorTM biological lter systems use a homogeneous organic
micropore ltra2on media derived from a highly renewable resource. The media has high adsorp2ve proper2es for ecient mass transfer of
organics and oxygen from inlet gases into the liquid phase. It is long las2ng with a high mechanical stability, has low bioavailability and a
high surface area to volume ra2o. This excep2onally large surface area and rough porous surface permits bacteria adhesion to
promote biomass colonisa2on and distribu2on. Its porosity prevents pressure loss and maintains constant aerobic condi2ons throughout
the life of the media. The life expectancy of the organic media is greater than 10 years delivering an excellent return on investment.
The environment created by the media enables the highly ecient treatment of odorous gases to reduce the odour proles of Hydrogen
Sulphide (H2S), mercaptans, VOCs, hydrocarbons, ketones, aldehydes, amines and reduce sulphide gases such as Dimethyl Sulphide. Once
the system is opera2onal there is minimal maintenance required, provided the supply of the connected u2li2es of water, power and
drainage are stable.
The FiltaOdorTM lter system is available in a number of standard
capaci2es ranging from 75 L/s to 670 L/s and Bioac2on is happy to consult on custom requirements. Custom congura2on of odour
abatement solu2ons includes design and development of systems to deal with specic capacity and installa2on requirements as well as
more complex odorous gas proles.
The plugnplay modular design of Bioac2ons FiltaOdorTM lter system
provides total exibility in designing the system to suit the target ow requirements and emission reduc2on outcomes. The modular design
also enables it to be posi2oned in rela2vely constrained spaces in comparison to other systems. The modular design is constructed on
an engineered skid base to enable rapid installa2on and commissioning, typically within 1-3 days of delivery to site.

Functional Description
The FiltaOdorTM system is a biological treatment system which is capable of removing greater than 95% of odours. A fan on the exhaust side of the vessel creates nega2ve pressure to ensure air ow across the system. Hazardous gases in the incoming air move through a humidica2on system to raise the rela2ve humidity to > 95%. The gas diuses through the moist organic media lter bed where the contaminants are biologically oxidised. Moisture within the lter bed is maintained and controlled by an irriga2on system. Treated air then ows through a vent stack and out to atmosphere.
ConstructionFiltaOdorTM lter vessels are constructed from P300 HDPE, incorpora2ng impregnated resins that are corrosion resistant and UV stabilised throughout the material. They have a high chemical-resistance to provide signicant design life expecta2on and are suitable for all clima2c condi2ons. Construc2on follows DVS technical codes on plas2c joining DVS 2202 / 2210. About FiltaBTFTM biotrickling technology
The FiltaBTFTM biotrickling lter is part of the Bioac2on biological air phase odour and emission lter range. These biological
scrubbers or biotricklers oer a very eec2ve way to treat high levels of odorous and pollutant gases such as Hydrogen Sulphide
(H2S), mercaptans and VOCs. This natural process of biological oxidisa2on can achieve signicant odour and emission reduc2on
in outlets with high gas concentra2ons, without the use of harsh chemicals.
FiltaBTFTM biotrickling lters are a modular plugnplay lter
system and can be congured in a mul2ple vessel or low-rise
construc2on to achieve most treatment outcomes and installa2on requirements. Depending on the site, by installing a
low-rise system with a large diameter vessel over a larger area the duplica2on of pipe and system infrastructure associated with
tall mul2-vessel system is negated and the cost savings are signicant. The modular design minimises costs via a reduc2on
in construc2on lead-2mes as well as logis2cs costs and on site assembly costs. All the lter vessels are constructed in Australia
from HDPE to meet strict wastewater guidelines. They are designed to minimise UV degrada2on by using UV stabilised
materials.
FiltaBTFTM biotrickling ltra2on systems have a great value proposi2on and meet expecta2ons for the environmentally
sustainable treatment of gaseous pollutants from industries such as municipal and industrial waste water treatment, sewer
systems and pump sta2ons, pulp & paper industries, tanneries, rendering facili2es, minerals and petrochemical processing,
landlls, and compos2ng plants.

Functional Description
The FiltaBTFTM system is a biological treatment system capable of removing up to 99% of odours. Hazardous gases are extracted from the source using a blower/extrac2on fan and air is forced through a packed bed of inorganic media. The gas diuses through the media lter bed which is con2nually moistened by an irriga2on system. Nutrient is provided by the irriga2on system to promote microorganism growth on the lter media which metabolise the contaminated air stream. Water to the irriga2on can be recirculated from the wet well and pH balanced. Nutrient supply can be supplemented by recycled euent water if available.
ConstructionFiltaBTFTM lter vessels are constructed from P300 HDPE, incorpora2ng impregnated resins that are corrosion resistant and UV stabilised throughout the material. They have a high chemical-resistance to provide signicant design life expecta2on and are suitable for all clima2c condi2ons. Construc2on follows DVS technical codes on plas2c joining DVS 2202 / 2210. Joint construc2on is bul and extrusion welded.
Adsorptive Media The packed bed media is either PVC pal rings or open cell foam blocks, each designed to provide a large surface area for biological adhesion and minimise pressure drop.
Humidification and Irrigation
The lter bed is irrigated to maintain correct moisture levels within the lter media to op2mise biomass stability and colonisa2on. The irriga2on assembly is located on the lter bed surface and accessed through the inspec2on hatch.
Optional Items Standby fan with PLC upgrade. Stainless steel fans. High level systems opera2onal sensors. Irriga2on and inspec2on hatch access plamorm. Con2nuous H2S monitoring. Ac2vated carbon secondary polisher

About FiltaPlusTM odour control technology
FiltaPlusTM hybrid biolters provide the highest level of emission and odour abatement. The two-stage treatment train complements the
latest technology in deep bed bioltra2on emission and odour treatment. The system consists of a rst stage bioltra2on vessel
followed by a second stage carbon ltra2on vessel.
This highly engineered, ecient, low maintenance and cost-eec2ve odour control system is designed to reduce odorous emissions by over
99.5%. Addi2onally it can reduce corrosion of sewer infrastructure.
The dual vessel congura2on uses separate vessels for the biological and carbon ltra2on components of the process. Depending on site
space restric2ons and ow requirements, the dual vessel design can be more cost eec2ve than other solu2ons.
The custom congura2on of media composi2on within the separate
vessels enables Bioac2ons experts to reduce odour proles by more than 99.5% of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S). If a gas prole exists for
mul2ple fugi2ve odourous gases that need to be removed, Bioac2on can formulate mixtures of media to deal with high levels of other
odorous gases such as Ammonia, Mercaptans and Dimethyl Sulphide. VOCs can also be addressed in these systems as part of the media
composi2on mixture to give an extremely good end result.
Bioac2ons experts will assess the odour prole for any given site and propose a mix of homogeneous organic micropore ltra2on media
derived from a highly renewable resource and combina2ons of carbon media in the form of granular vapour carbon and caus2c
impregnated vapour carbon.
The modular design of Bioac2ons FiltaPlusTM enables it to be
posi2oned in rela2vely constrained spaces in comparison to other systems. The modular design is constructed on an engineered skid
base to enable rapid installa2on and commissioning, typically within
1-3 days of delivery to site.

Adsorptive Media
FiltaPlusTM uses a unique hydrophobic micropore ltra2on media with high adsorp2ve proper2es for ecient mass transfer of organics and oxygen from inlet gases into the liquid phase. This highly robust media has an excep2onally large surface area for biomass distribu2on and is suciently porous to prevent high pressure loss. The secondary vessel uses specically designed ac2vated carbon for use in odour control systems where the primary cause of odour is as a result the presence of mercaptans, Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), and VOCs. Customised media blends and mixtures can be supplied to meet any needs that fall outside the capaci2es of our standard ac2vated carbon materials.
Humidification and Irrigation
A humidica2on chamber is located prior to the inlet of the lter plenum. Mis2ng sprayers are located in the chamber to saturate untreated gas to >95% rela2ve humidity.
Con2nuous H2S monitoring

About FiltaVentTM carbon lter technology FiltaVentTM two way passive vent lters are cost eec2ve and ecient
ground mounted lter systems with replaceable cartridges. Each one is a self-breathable passive lter with low sta2c pressure that can be
used to solve a range of odour issues. Applica2ons for this system is where there is a need to allow a high ow of inlet air on demand from
the system. The annulus lter design lowers the sta2c pressure across the lter bed without compromising surface contact and residence
2me. The FiltaVentTM two way lter can act as or connect to a vent stack to create air inow while trea2ng odorous oumlow.
Depending on the ow capacity requirements there is a range of
FiltaVentTM two way model congura2ons that has been designed to suit installa2on on top of air valves, sewer manholes, pump sta2ons
and small sewerage treatment plants and also to replace old corroded vent stacks.
Replacement FiltaVentTM cartridge lters:
All FiltaVentTM passive vent lters are supplied with replaceable cartridges that can easily be changed by operators, when the carbon is
exhausted. At only 33 kg, the cartridge can be easily removed and safely replaced manually. The media is a performance ac2vated
carbon for the combined removal of gases such as Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), Dimethyl Sulphide, Mercaptans and VOCs..
The FiltaVentTM range oers mul2-cartridge systems to meet larger
target ows. The units are robust and the independent plenum base ensures air is evenly distributed throughout the media bed. This
op2mises the capacity of the ac2vated carbon lter media, therefore maximising its performance.
Bioac2on FiltaVentTM lter systems are designed, engineered and
made locally to suit Australias wide and oten harsh range of opera2onal condi2ons. FiltaVentTM lters have a high chemical and UV
resistance to provide signicant design life expecta2on and are suitable for all clima2c condi2ons
Benets of FiltaVentTM two-way passive vent lters: Suitable for municipal sewer applica2ons More than 99.5% of odours removed Can connect to external vent duct / stack Allows air inow into sewer system Low sta2c pressure Range of mul2-cartridge op2ons Easy installa2on Replaceable cartridges Insect and vermin proof Vandal resistant

Functional Description
FiltaVentTM two-way passive ground mount lters are cost eec2ve and ecient lter systems with very low maintenance costs. The system is designed for easy and simple lter changeover and replacement. The system is a single-stage treatment using carbon adsorp2on technology. Hazardous gases are pushed through the lter media. The untreated gases accumulate in the lower plenum of the lter before being evenly diused through the media of the lter bed where contaminates are physically adsorbed. In addi2on to the treated air owing out through the lter, this system also enables unrestricted ow of air back through the intake pipe to enable pressure reduc2on in the network. A specic ac2vated carbon media is used to treat the target gases to achieve more than 99.5% removal of source gases. FiltaVentTM lters are designed to reduce logis2c and installa2on costs. The system comes with 1 - 4 canisters, depending on the model ordered, all are factory tested prior to dispatch.
ConstructionFiltaVentTM two-way passive ground mount lters are made from PVC and constructed to be UV and corrosion resistant (Op2onal HDPE). All duct and pipe penetra2ons are PVC which have been constructed to be UV resistant. The lid has a gasket seal and is secured to the vessel base and bolted securely ange to ange. More detailed specica2ons per model are available on request.
Adsorptive MediaA custom blend of Ac2carb EA1000 granular vapour ac2vated carbon and Ac2carb EA1000K pelle2sed impregnated ac2vated carbon is used and specically designed for use in odour control systems where the primary cause of odour is as a result the presence of mercaptans, Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), and VOCs. Customised media blends and mixtures can be supplied to meet any needs that fall outside the capaci2es of our standard ac2vated carbon materials.
