Pro-Life Breakfast to highlight 40 Days for Life

Pro-Life of Pioneer Valley will be holding their annual Pro-life Breakfast on Saturday, September 18th from 10 am to 12 Noon at The Holyoke Elks Club, 250 Whitney Avenue, Holyoke. The speaker will be from the 40 Days for Life organization. 40 Days for Life is an international pro-life group that holds prayer vigils outside abortion providers in more than 60 nations worldwide. In the United States they have successfully shut down over 100 abortion mills. Tickets for the breakfast are only $25.00. This is our major fundraiser for the year. The breakfast will feature french toast, ham, scrambled eggs, fresh juice and more. For more information and tickets call Monica at 413-746-0655.

Dear Parishioners, Time Away: By the time you read this bulletin, I will be in Buffalo visiting my family. I will return on August 24. The Profit: I am very happy to report that we made a profit of $8,356 on the $5K Pay Day (this amount includes the money raised on the Baskets of Cheer Raffle). Once again, I would like to thank everyone who supported this fundraiser that benefits our parish. Letting You Know: The parish recently received a loan of $49,157 from the government as part of the Covid relief funds that have been made available to various businesses and organizations. Even though this money is a loan, we are hoping that it will eventually be forgiven and we will not have to pay it back. This is what happened with the other loan that we previously received from the government. Even though our collections have improved over the past several months, not everyone has returned to Mass and not everyone is mailing in their offertory envelopes. So, this loan is definitely a blessing for the parish. I also want to let you know that the Diocese did all the paperwork in securing this loan for us and I am very grateful for their assistance. Another Update: I announced last weekend that we received another update from the Diocese regarding the Annual Catholic Appeal. As of August 4, 222 parishioners donated/pledged $52,760 to the ACA. This is very good news! A percentage of the $2,760 that was over our goal will be given back to the parish for our use. Many thanks to ALL those who supported this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal! Shrine Results: I am grateful for all those who submitted suggestions for our new shrine. Here are the top three results: Divine Mercy (18), St. Jude (13) and Padre Pio (7). There were also votes for several other saints: St. Helena, St. Ignatius, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Mary Magdalene, St. Theresa, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Patrick, the Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Guadelupe. Suggestions were also made for several saints to be included together in the shrine. It looks as though our new shrine will be dedicated to the Divine Mercy, so we will now begin continue with our planning and design. Again, thank you for your input! Peace, FR. ALBERT

Stay Cool

If you find it uncomfortable in the church because of the heat/humidity, try sitting in one of the pews underneath the ceiling fan. It provides a nice breeze that really helps to cool the front of the church. Save the Date

Important

The Diocese has informed us that there has been a significant uptick in parishes and priests being targeted by various scams. If anyone asks you to purchase a gift card under the guise of some "emergency," it is all but certain to be a scam. Please know that the parish nor any of the Friars would ever make such a request, either by phone or by email.

A special word of “welcome” to any visitors who may be with us today! We are happy that you have chosen to worship with us. May your vacation be relaxing and your travels safe. God Bless!

Year Of The Eucharist

Bishop Byrne is planning a Year of the Eucharist, beginning on November 21. This special year is being designed to enrich the Diocese and to foster a deeper love of the Eucharist in every parish. The Bishop has commissioned a Committee to develop plans for the Year of the Eucharist. The Bishop is requesting every parish to submit the names of 2 individuals who could serve as liaisons between the Committee and the parish. Liaisons will only be required to attend one informational meeting. If anyone feels called to serve in this capacity, please see Fr. Albert as soon as possible.
