Ubicada a 4 Kms al oeste de Trujillo, Chan Chan es considerada la ciudadela de barro mas grande

del mundo y fue la capital del poderoso estado Chimú, que se extendió entre los siglos 1100 y 1400 DC en la costa norte del Perú. Esta imponente ciudadela esta compuesta por nueve palacios separados por muros finamente decorados con figuras de aves y peces estilizados, lo que demuestra la importancia del mar para la supervivencia del reino. Siguiendo la misma vía que nos conduce de Trujillo a Chan Chan llegaremos al balneario de Huanchaco, tierra de los tradicionales caballitos de totora, empleados por nuestros antepasados para realizar la pesca artesanal.

At 4 kilometers west of Trujillo, Chan Chan is the largest mud city in the world. It was once

the capital of the Chimu Empire (1100 to 1400 DC) in the northern coast of Peru. This magnificent citadel is composed of nine palaces separated by walls that are exquisitely decorated with figures of animals such as birds and fish, showing the importance of the sea in the kingdom’s survival. Following the same route that leads from Trujillo to Chan Chan we will reach the Huanchaco resort, the land of the traditional reed horses used by our ancestors for fishing.

En 1987, se descubre la tumba del Señor de Sipán.El hallazgo, comparado por algunos investigadores con

el descubrimiento del faraón egipcio Tutankhamon, nos revela por primera ves la majestuosidad de un importante gobernante preinca que ejerció el poder político, religioso y militar de su reino. En el año 2002, se inauguró el Museo Tumbas Reales de Sipán, que alberga los restos oseos y más de dos mil piezas de oro encontradas. A través de su original y moderna arquitectura, inspirada en una pirámide Mochica, este museo nos muestra con gran precisión el ritual de enterramiento y las claves de esta cultura.

A tomb with the intact remains of one of the greatest Mochica rulers, the Lord of Sipan (II-III

AD), was discovered in 1987. The finding was compared by some researchers with the discovery of Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun. It revealed for the first time the majesty of a major prehispanic ruler who exercised political, religious and military power in his kingdom. The Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum opened in 2002 to house the remains and more than two thousand pieces of gold found on the site. This museum, with a modern and original architecture inspired on a Mochica pyramid, shows us in great detail the burial ritual and the keys to this culture.

En 1994 la arqueóloga Ruth Shady encontró en el valle de Supe este eslabón perdido. Hoy en día Caral es patrimonio de la humanidad y la civilización más antigua de América.
