The length of making process

The historical background of the building Goal: To be a challenge of the century and to make Malaysia be recognized worldwideWidely seen as a brain child of Malaysia's retired Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammed it was another of his conceptual thinking in transforming the "unproductive" once-a-month utilities into a visionary "City within the City" concept.

The material used

The stainless steel covered 65,000 square. meters. The vision glass covered 77,000 square. meters. 160,000 cubic meters of concrete wa sused in the superstructures. The steel used was 39,910 metric tons. The steel was used to strengthen the towers. For the base of the towers, 405 meters or 15 feet thick raft holding 13,200 cubic meters of grade 60 strengthened concrete. The concrete weighed almost 32,550 metric tons below each tower.

Special things

Lift systemThe main bank of Otis Lifts is located in the centre

of each tower. All main lifts are double-decker with the lower deck of the lift taking passengers to even numbered floors and upper deck to odd numbered floors. To reach an odd-numbered floor from ground level, passengers must take an escalator to the upper deck of the lift.
