Ein bwriad yw cynnig cyngor ymarferol ar arfer da, hy�orddiant sta� ac adnoddau, gyda’r nod o gynyddu sgiliau a phro�adau dwyieithog dysgwyr.

Mae’r ddarpariaeth a gynigir yn cynnwys amrywiaeth o gy�eoedd datblygiad pro�esiynol i ymarferwyr mewn gwahanol rolau ac ar wahanol lefelau yn y sector addysg ôl-14.

WELCOME to Sgiliaith’s 2015/17 Sta� Development Prospectus. In this prospectus we o�er support on bilingualism and Welsh and English communication skills for the post-14 education sector.

Our objective is to o�er practical advice on good practice, sta� training and resources, with the aim of enhancing learners’ bilingual skills and experiences.

The provision o�ered includes a variety of professional development opportunities for practitioners in di�erent roles and on di�erent levels in the post-14 education sector.

Y GANOLFANMae Sgiliaith, a sefydlwyd yn 2001, yn ganolfan arloesi sy’n cefnogi colegau a darparwyr eraill ar draws Cymru wrth iddynt ymateb i’r gofynion cynyddol am sgiliau yn y Gymraeg yn y sector addysg ôl-14.

Mae Sgiliaith yn �aengar, yn bro�adol ac yn arloesol yn y maes dysgu ac addysgu dwyieithog. Defnyddiwn ystod helaeth o ddulliau a methodolegau hy�orddi gan arbenigo yn y technolegau aml-blat�orm diweddaraf.

Ariennir ein gwaith yn gyfan gwbl gan Lywodraeth Cymru sy’n ein gallugoi i gynnig ein holl ddarpariaeth yn rhad ac am ddim i’r sector addysg ôl-14.

Gellir cael hyd i fanylion ein darpariaeth ynghyd â’n holl ddeunyddiau dysgu ac addysgu ar ein gwefan.

THE CENTRESgiliaith, established in 2001, is an innovation centre which supports colleges and other providers across Wales as they respond to the increasing demand for Welsh language skills in the post-14 education sector.

Sgiliaith is progressive, experienced and innovative in the �eld of bilingual learning and teaching. We use a wide range of training methods and methodologies specialising in the latest multi-platform technologies.

Our work is wholly funded by Welsh Government which allows us to o�er all our provision free of charge to the post-14 education sector.

Details of our provision can be found on our website together with all our learning and teaching materials.

CYD-DESTUN STRATEGOLCyhoeddwyd Strategaeth Genedlaethol ar Ddwyieithrwydd yn Addysg Bellach gan GolegauCymru (y cor� sy’n cynrychioli’rsefydliadau addysg bellach yng Nghymru) mewn ymateb i Strategaeth Addysg Cyfrwng Cymraeg (SACC) Llywodraeth Cymru(2010) er mwyn rhoi arweiniad i golegau allu gwireddu “Amcan Stategol 2 : Gwella’r broses o gynllunio darpariaeth cyfrwngCymraeg yng nghyfnodau ôl-14 addysg a hy�orddiant, gan ystyried dilyniant ieithyddol a datblygu sgiliau’n barhaus.”

Mae colegau’n ymateb i’r Strategaeth Genedlaethol ar Ddwyieithrwydd yn Addysg Bellach drwy �aenoriaethu datblygiadau ar draws tair elfen a amlygir yn y strategaeth, sef datblygu ymhellach:

Mae Sgiliaith yn chwarae rôl gefnogol wrth i golegau gynllunio i wireddu’r Strategaeth Genedlaethol ar Ddwyieithrwydd yn Addysg Bellach. Rydym yn cynorthwyo uwch reolwyr y colegau wrth iddynt ystyried y camau nesaf tuag at wneud datblygiadau cadarnhaol. O ganlyniad, rydym hefyd yn cynnig hy�orddiant datblygiad pro�esiynol mewn addysgu dwyieithog i sta� y colegau. Bydd y datblygiad hwn yn galluogi i fwy o sta� allu cynnig addysg ddwyieithog i’w dysgwyr.

In response to the Welsh Government’s Welsh Medium Education Strategy (2010), CollegesWales published “The National Strategy onBilingualism in Further Education” to provide colleges with guidance when realising “Strategic Aim 2 : To improve the planning of Welsh-medium provision in the post-14 phases of education and training, to take account of lingustic progression and continued developmentof skills.”

Colleges respond to the National Strategy on Bilingualism in Further Education by prioritising developments across the three strandsoutlined in the strategy. To develop further:

the Welsh ethos in the college

bilingual communication skills to augment English medium provisionsWelsh-medium or bilingual provision for post-14 learners

Sgiliaith plays a supportive role as colleges plan to implement the National Strategy on Bilingualism in Further Education. We assist the colleges’ senior managers as they consider the next stage of positive development. As a result we also o�er professional training in bilingual teaching to the colleges’ sta�. This development means that more sta� will be able to o�er a bilingual education to their learners.

DILYNIANTMae modd dilyn darpariaeth achrededig neu ddi-achrediad drwy Sgiliaith ac eraill. Mae’r diagram yn dangos rhai o’r llwybrau posibl wrth ddilyn datblygiad mewn addysgu dwyieithog. Mae’n bosib i unrhyw ymarferydd yn y sector addysg ôl-14 sy’n hyderus yn Gymraeg a Saesneg gofrestru ar gyfer y Modiwl MA Methodoleg Addysgu Dwyieithog. Hefyd, os ydych wedi cwblhau’r cwrs Cy�wyniad i AddysguDwyieithog neu’r Cynllun Sabothol Cenedlaethol, mae’n ddilyniant naturiol i chi fynychu’r Modiwl MA Addysgu Dwyieithog a/neu’r Cwrs Cefnogi Addysgu Dwyieithog.

It is possible to follow accredited or non-accredited provision through Sgiliaith and other providers. The diagram below demonstrates some of the possible professional development pathways in bilingual teaching. It is possible for any practitioner in the post-14 education sector who is con�dent in both Welsh and English to register for the MA Module in Bilingual Teaching Methodology. Also, if you have already completed the Introduction to Bilingual Teaching course or the National Sabbatical Scheme, it is a natural progression for you to attend the MA Module in Bilingual Teaching Methodology and/or the Supporting Bilingual Teaching Course.

WHOThe training is intended for post-14 practitioners who are �uent in both Welsh and English, who are keen to develop their bilingual learning and teaching skills and who wish to have a Level 7 quali�cation to acknowledge their achievement. LENGTHFive intensive days and visits to the practitioner’s organisation during the course of the academic year. WHEREThe training is located in convenient centres in North and South Wales. HOWAcademic sessions are delivered which provide opportunities for the practitioners to contribute through group work, class discussion, question and answer, and so on. Formal assessments of microteaching sessions and learning and teaching observations take place in the practitioners’ organisations as part of the module. Practitioners are also given the opportunity to undertake action research and written self-assessment of their personal practices at Level 7.
