PRESENTATION OF THE ASSOCIATION

The Association for Economic and Social Development (ADES) was created on February 7, 2012 in Kindia, in the Republic of Guinea.

It works for disadvantaged and often marginalized groups, mainly people with disabilities, women and children who make up more than 70% of the Guinean population [1].

Our mission is to promote their rights and fight for their economic and social autonomy.

We therefore believe that it is important to draw the attention, not only of civil society policies and organizations, but mainly of beneficiaries, to realize their full potential.

Finally, put them at the center of our actions and make them, at the same time, the main actors of their own development.

REPUBLIC OF GUINEA

43.3% of the population lives on less than 0.81 € / day. [2].

2,200,000 people with disabilities, 97% of whom are marginalized and excluded from public and political life.55% of the population are women, of whom less than 1% are represented in decision-making bodies,97% of women were excised before the age of 15,

80% of women who are already married or in a common-law relationship have been victims of spousal violence.

At least 1.6 million children under the age of 14 are directly affected by the lack of socio-economic, information and educational capacity of their families and have very limited access to basic services.43% of children aged 5-17 are economically employed.

CONTEXT

With only 32% of the population literate, a human development index of: 0.414 [3], Guinea is sadly ranked 11th country, the poorest in the world according to the 2016 report of the IMF [4].

In addition to this weak economic context, the country is undermined by ethnic divisions, exacerbated by political tensions [5], which continue to aggravate an already untenable precarious situation [6].

Unfortunately, the government's efforts in favor of the most affected social strata (people with disabilities, women and children), leave something to be desired - as evidenced by the finance law for 2017 or, credits allocated to the ministry in charge of social actions women's advancement and childhood, represented only 0.80% of the total budget. [7]

OUR APPROACH

To accomplish its mission, ADES has put in place a whole ecosystem of actors, has proceeded to the constitution of a network of experienced volunteers devoted to his cause.

In addition to radio, TV and documentary film production, ADES is also involved in social networks through which it pushes for action.

In addition, ADES deploys actions of citizen advocacy, training, intermediation for the benefit of people with disabilities and women, as well as a flexible and adapted school reintegration program for children exploited as street vendors.

OUR VISION

Our vision for Guinea

Ades fights for a GUINEA where children grow up respecting their rights and where young people, women, people with disabilities, actors of their own development, have means to sustainably improve their living conditions.

The areas in which ADES intends to help transform Guinea are education and training.

Éducation & Formation

We want to mobilize the actors for a Guinea where all the children whatever their economic, social or handicap situations, are protected and have a total access to education.

We want to provide training for all young people, women and people with disabilities so that they are able to take control of their destiny to improve their living conditions in a healthy and sustainable way..We want to integrate an environmental education in our interventions so that every citizen wherever he is in our cities and villages adopts behaviors and skills necessary to participate responsibly and effectively in the protection of the environment. 'environment.

Solidarity requires paying attention to the needs of others and trying to meet those needs while respecting human dignity.

In ADES, each volunteer member is motivated by the desire to provide assistance to poor people and their families. So everyone agrees to:

• Be attentive to the needs of others;• Assist, accompany and guide the beneficiaries;• Act for others for a more prosperous Guinea.

Determination

Our determination translates into firmness, perseverance, and the conviction that our selfless dedication can contribute to better being. Every member of the association sees life as a challenge and looks for ways to help and support disadvantaged young people, women and children.

honesty

Our motto: Inspire and trust.

For this reason, ADES members are committed to being honest with themselves, with the beneficiaries and with our donors.

We fight every day so that it has no contradiction between thoughts, words and actions, never to misuse what has been entrusted to us.

Each member agrees to:

• always make good use of what has been entrusted to us.• Consistently use resources efficiently - to meet the basic human, moral and spiritual needs of all.• What is constantly there, the fit between words and deeds in our everyday work, in our relationships with beneficiaries and partners.

Means of action

We advocate and act in favor of women, people with disabilities, children. To this end, we encourage and encourage the joining of volunteers, stimulate synergy among its members to provide support, experiences, expertise and engineering to beneficiaries.

For this purpose, our work consists of:

• Put in place social and educational programs to protect and (re) insert economically exploited children.

5

• Raise awareness, train, ensure the economic empowerment of women, and encourage their participation in political life advocacy.

• Organize awareness campaigns on the rights of people with disabilities, train them to ensure their social inclusion and citizenship.

Profiles of the accompanied persons

Children street vendors:

We focus our interventions on children from 6 to 14 years old (mainly girls) economically exploited (as domestic, or street vendors).

In synergy with the local authorities, with a strong involvement of parents we give these children a chance to be better protected and find their way back to school.

During this process of (re) insertion, these children participate in gardening activities, at the same time enjoy small excursions to discover nature.

People with disabilities:

In a largely illiterate country, prejudices about disability are difficult to lift.

 The goal?

Contribute to changing mentalities. We inform and raise awareness about respect for the rights of people with disabilities in general, but mainly we promote autonomy by the professional reintegration of albinos and people with disabilities

The women :

We work with all women, not just those in difficult situations who are involved in our "women's empowerment" program, but in general with all those who want to move the lines.

We work with these women who want to change mentalities, but who do not have the information, the training required, or who are not structured enough for more leadership and participation in politics.NOTES AND REFERENCES [1]. Atlas of populations and countries of the world.
