Scripture Reflection:

Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time:

In today’s reading from the prophet Isaiah, there is a guarantee that the unleashing of

God’s Word will bear much fruitfulness in the world. The Word of God will accomplish

whatever God sends it forth to do. His Word

is given to us as a gift to be nurtured, shared and made to “bear fruit.” The

question is whether or not we are exercising good stewardship over God’s Word. Have we

been “fruitful” with God’s Word? Have we unleashed God’s Word? Do we share God’s

Word or do we leave that task to others?

Stewardship Reflection “The seed sown among thorns is the one who

hears the word but then the cares of the world

and the lure of riches choke the word and it

bears no fruit.” - Matthew 13:22

Does the lure of riches and material goods choke God out of your life? Are you so caught up in worldly activities that you have no time for God? Stewardship

is a lifestyle to be lived every day. It effects all the decisions we make. What we receive at Mass every Sunday should be shared with others all the other days of the week.

In today’s Gospel, we hear the

story of the sower and we know that “some

seed fell on rich soil, and produce fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirty fold.”

This week by putting a gift in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box, know that together they will produce fruit a hundred fold.

Suggested Shopping List: Canned soups - chicken noodle, tomato,

ramen noodles, etc., toilet paper, peanut butter and jelly, fruit, cookies and breakfast cereal.

Eucharistic Visits

The hidden life of Jesus in Nazareth is continued

in the divine Host in the tabernacle, and the Passion of the Man-God on Calvary is

renewed in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass all over the world.

Is not our Lord Jesus meek and humble in His

Sacrament as He was during His mortal life?

He is always the Good Shepherd, the Divine Consoler, and our very best Friend.

Centennial Celebration of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima

St. John Vianney Parish in St. Pete Beach is blessed to have a beautiful outdoor grotto of Our Lady of Fatima. His

Excellency, Bishop Gregory Parkes has granted permission to use the grotto as a public place for veneration for the centennial anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, with the opportunity to obtain a plenary indulgence as part of the second way: to visit with devotion a statue of Our Lady of Fatima exposed for public veneration as part of

some celebration during the days of the apparitions, the 13th of each month until October 2017.

On the 13th of each month, there are two public gatherings to pray the rosary in the grotto: one during the day and a candlelight service after sunset. Please plan to be a part of

this special grace-filled centennial anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady in Fatima.

All are invited. The morning rosary is at 10:00 am and the evening rosary at 8:45 pm
