Ro/Ro-Container HazMat parcelled

General The Ro/Ro-Container HazMat acts for the environ-mental protection and provides equipment that isnecessary for realising immediate measurements ataccidents with dangerous substances and goods like

e.g. acid- or mineral oil accidents.

The Ro/Ro-Container HazMat parcelled is built acc.to DIN 14 505. The sides are closed by 1 upper- andlower wall, each in the rear area. The lower walls aresimultaneously designed as loading platform. Bothfront equipment compartments are closed by 1shutter, each. The Ro/Ro-Container will be deliveredwith rear cell. The standard loading of the Ro/Ro-ContainerHazMat contains the loading acc. to DIN 14555-12,possibly supplemented by the loading acc. to stateprovisions. It has sufficient space- and weightreserves for taking up the whole wished loading acc.to DIN standard and additional loading acc. to localrequirements.

Parcelled loading We developed a completely new parcelledconstruction concept for this Ro/Ro-Container. TheRo/Ro-Container can be equipped for the differenttasks by few movements only.

The basic equipment which will be needed at nearlyevery operation and which is simultaneously easyto transport (e.g. shutting-off material, respirators,all measuring- and medical devices, light tools,extinguishers, portable searchlights) and theequipment which cannot be stored on trolleysdue to their dimensions will be stored in durablestorages.

Body The Ro/Ro-Containers body consists of torsion-freesteel square pipes. The alu coating of the bodyframe guarantees corrosion-resistance.

Separation of the technical equipment The technical equipment like e.g. pumps, hoses,

shutting-off material etc. is stored in the equipmentcompartments. This can be accessed from the side.

Rear The personal equipment as well as the breathingprotection-, the measuring equipment and thewalkie talkies as well as the gastight suits will bestored in a rear cell that is accessible by a rear flap.

Equipment compartment closures Both front equipment compartments of the Ro/Ro-Container HazMat are closed by 1 shutter, each onthe right and on the left hand side. The sides in the rear area, left and right, are closedby 1 upper- and lower wall, each. Gas springsfacilitate the opening of the flaps and they alsoavoid an accidentially closing when the flaps areopen.

This arrangement offers the followingadvantages:

the crew can change clothes in the rear area.

weather protection by rear flap with thepossibility to hook in a rear tent as additionalweather- and sight protection.

the personal equipment will widely by protectedagainst aggressive gases and steams.

2 phosphor lights are situated at the lower part ofthe flap for the good lighting of the vehicles rear

Equipment compartment with shutter closure

The lower walls are simultaneously designed asloading walls which offer the following advantages:

a notch-free passage between equipmentcompartment floor and loading wall is possiblewhen lower walls are folded down

an edgeless passage between ground andloading wall is guaranteed

easy loading and unloading of the trolleys

the coating of the loading wall will be protectedby a stainless steel profile against damages.

the loading walls will be pneumatically dampedby gas springs when opening and closing.

the upper walls are also acting as weatherprotection when they are in opened position

Storage in plastic casesWe use transport- and stacking cases made of highquallity low pressure-polyethylene for storing theequipment. The high stability and the ideal handlingof the cases are offering a safe and cheap storagesystem.

plastic cases cannot be damaged by remainingquantities of aggressive substances like ALU-floors

similar devices (e.g. shutting-of f devices) canbe easily and completely transported to theoperation site

on the operation site the content is protectedagainst contaminations

easy and fast cleaning after the operation ispossible

the customary cases can cheaply be retrofitted orrenewed.

Technical design of the interior The interior fittings of the Ro/Ro-Container will bemanufactured of the anodized Gimaex alu profileswhich enable changes if necessary and mainly theysave weight as a flexible modular system. The equipment is distributed so that the heavyequipment is stored on the equipment compart-ment floor and the light equipment is stored underthe vehicle roof. This way of weight distributionadvantages the position of centre of gravity andfacilitates the removal of equipment.Mainly we care for a clear separation of theequipment so that all parts will be stored dependingon their usage and that they can be used withoutdelays. Even if various groups are working together,there will be no opposite obstructions.Loading lists, compartments, plastic cases anddrawers are sufficiently labelled.

Storage plastic cases

Loading with trolleys in the lateral equipmentcompartmentsIt is possible to store up to 6 mobile trolleys insidethe lateral equipment compartments of the Ro/Ro-Container. They are acting as mobile storages. The trolleys are equipped with 2 guide- and fixedrolls (solide rubber tires, 200 mm), each whichallow a moving also on rough ground. If this shouldbe impossible due to a bad road condition, theequipment can also be removed and carried to theoperation site as usual.

Sliding wall A smooth-running, vertical sliding wall is providedfor the clear storage of devices like e.g.: shovels,handles, suction pipe, drum pump stations etc.. Thesliding walls stainless steel bottom can be removedand is therefore easy to clean.

The basic equipment which will be necessary atalmost any operation and which is simultaneouslyeasy to transport like e.g. shutting-off material,respirators, all measuring- and medical devices, lighttools, extinguishers and portable searchlights andthe equipment which cannot be stored on mobiletrolleys due to their dimensions will be storedin durable storages. This concept allows the firefighter to use his power for rescue tasks and not fortransportation.

Breathing apparatus4 BAs and 4 spare bottles as well as the bottle for theleak-sealing cushions will be stored on a rear-sided,extractable BA-slide. As the bottles and not thecarrying plates will be stored, all makes of single-bottle devices are fitting (if wished also two-bottledevices).

5Large plastic container In the 220 l-plastic containers, the hoses will bestored clean and good transportable in compliancewith the allowed bend radii. A lying storage of thehoses (e.g. in pipes) is disadvantageous as possibledropping residual media may contaminate anddamage the vehicle and as a transport of such hosesto the operation site (e.g. below chemical protectivesuits) is very disadvantageous.

Plastic container

Stainless steel container The set of the round stainless steel containers thatcan be stacked into each other and the strainers willbe stored in a lying position. Each container can beunloaded individually. A cap will be stored in frontof the containers as closure. The remaining capsare stored besides the containers. Due to the roundform it is possible to roll them to the operation siteinstead of carrying them.

Measuring devices It is possible to store 5 plastic-coated steel casesthat are secured against accidential opening in 2lockable steel cabinet housings with interlock inextractable, ball-beared drawer frames.

In those cases it is possible to store all measuring

devices like e.g.:

explosimeter and gas detector with accessories,

test tubes and sampling kits and the

walkie talkies.

Absorbent 6 barrels for storing the absorbent are includedin the delivery. Therefore a contamination ofthe interior by damaged bags is impossible.Furthermore, used absorbent can be removed in theempty barrels.

Measuring devices and working tables

Working tables 2 removeable filing- and working tables will bestored in the rear for an ex tra charge. Free arrange-able tables will knowingly be used as removeablefiling- and working surfaces are not alwaysadequate depending on the terrain.
