성격
조용한 성격 quiet personality 조용하다 = to be quiet
조용한 is the adjective form of 조용하다.
이상한 성격 weird personality 이상하다 = to be weird
이상한 is the adjective form of 이상하다.
성격이 좋다 to have a good personality 좋다 = to be good
성격이 나쁘다 to have a bad personality 나쁘다 = to be bad
제 성격 잘 아시죠? You know what my personality is like,
don’t you?
제 = my (polite)
잘 = well
아시다 = to know (honorific)

저는 차분한 성격이에요. I have a calm personality. 저 = I (polite)
차분하다 = to be calm
차분한 is the adjective form of 차분하다.
그 사람은 성격만 좋아요. He/She only has a good personality (and
no other good traits).
그 = that, the
사람 = person, people
-만 = only, just
좋다 = to be good
저는 엄마 성격을 닮았어요. I take after my mother’s personality. 저 = I (polite)
엄마 = mom, mother
닮다 = to look like, to have a resemblence
저는 차분한 성격이 못 돼요.
I am not a calm person by nature. 저 = I (polite)
차분하다 = to be calm
차분한 is the adjective form of 차분하다.
못 = can’t
되다 = to become
Adjective + 성격이 못 되다 = to be not + adjective + at all
그 사람은 성격이 참 좋아요.
He/She has a very good personality. 그 = that, the
사람 = person, people
참 = very
좋다 = to be good

외모보다는 성격이 더 중요해요.
Personality is more important than looks. 외모 = looks, appearance
-보다(는) = than + N
더 = more
중요하다 = to be important
성격을 바꾸려고 많이 노력했어요.
I’ve made a lot of effort to change my
personality.
바꾸다 = to change
-(으)려고 하다 = to try + V-ing
많다 = to be a lot
많이 is the adverb form of 많다.
노력하다 = to try, to put a lot of effort into something
사람 성격은 잘 안 바뀌는 것 같아요.
I think a person’s personality rarely
changes.
사람 = person, people
잘 = well
안 = not
바뀌다 = to change, to be changed
N + 같다 = to be like + N
사람들은 성격이 모두 조금씩 달라요.
Everyone’s personality is a little different
from each other’s.
사람 = person, people
-들 = suffix for plural
모두 = all, every
조금씩 = a little
다르다 = to be different
제 성격 탓인지 친구가 별로 없어요.
Perhaps because of personality, I don’t
have many friends.
저 = I (polite)
-탓 = because of, fault of
-인지 = maybe, perhaps
친구 = friend
별로 = not much, not very
없다 = to not have, to not be there

그 사람과는 성격이 너무 안 맞는 것 같아요.
I think my personality and his personality
don’t go well with each other.
그 = that, the
사람 = person, people
너무 = too much, excessively
안 = not
맞다 = to go well with, to go along with
N + 같다 = to be like + N
저는 항상 솔직하게 이야기하는 성격이에요.
I always tend to speak honestly. 저 = I (polite)
항상 = always
솔직하다 = to be honest
솔직하게 is the adverb form of 솔직하다.
이야기하다 = to talk, to speak, to say, to tell
저는 남한테는 빚 지고는 못 사는 성격이에요.
I can’t stand owing someone. 저 = I (polite)
남 = others, other people
-한테 = to, from
빚 = debt
빚 지다 = to owe
못 = can’t
살다 = to live
-고는 못 살다 = can’t stand V-ing continuously, can’t live
while V-ing
혈액형에 따라 성격이 다르다는 이야기 믿으세요?

혈액형 = blood type
-에 따라 = depending on
다르다 = to be different
이야기 = story, things people say
믿다 = to believe, to trust
