No, to nije jedino zanimanje kojese njoj dopada; mo`da jednoga dana postane nastavnicaili ~ak lekarka.

"Volimda crtam, i to ba{ lepo crtam.

LL ately our production isreceiving the calls fromsome of the teachers

and students, who are askingto have a student of theirschool in the section "Studentof the month". We know thatthere are a lot of smart chil-dren in Kosovo who areachieving good results in theschool, but we can not writeabout all of them at once.

We had an opportunity tolisten to 12 year old MilenaAntic reciting, and we wereamazed. We were told compli-ments about her even in herschool, and the biologyteacher Mrs. SonjaMaksimovic says aboutMilena that she is a diligentand careful student. "She isalways active in class.Recently we had the biologycompetition in our school, andMilena won the first place. She is a meticulous being, educated and well raised."

Little Milena is a student of the sixth class in Primaryschool "Kralj Milutin" in Gracanica. She is constantly going tothe school and she has never been absent from class, andshe would never skip the classes, because she likes everymoment she spends in them. Since the first class she is onlyreceiving A's, and she is always a volunteer during the class-es. She likes all the subjects and she would not separate one.She is always punctual in studying and taking tests, and prob-ably because of that she is among the best. As she told us,she doesn't have a lot of free time because she is dedicatedto her books and school. "If you gain knowledge from the verybeginning than it is not very difficult to learn and followthe teachings. I think it is very important for eachstudent to frequently study and do the home-work. While in the class I am payingattention to the teacher, I listen to himand I watch him while he is teach-ing, and that is enough for me."

She was learning her firstletters from her sister Jelena. She was watching her sisterdoing her homework and soshe started to draw her firstforms, and was impatient tostart going to the firstclass. "I remember that firstday in the school, becauseI was very shy. I was afraida little bit in the beginning, because I did not know how itis to go to the school. That dayI came to and I left the schoolwith my mom, because I still couldnot do it all by myself. I did not havea lot of friend at the beginning until i gotrelaxed a little bit. I remember I wanted toshare the table with one girl, who left Kosovoafterwards, and now she is back again and I am very

happy because of that."During our conversation with Milena we

found out that she is training basketball andhopes to become a professional basketballplayer some day. But, that is not the onlyoccupation she likes; one day she maybecome a teacher or maybe even a doctor."Since I was a little girl I liked to play a doc-tor, but there is still time to make a decision. Ithink that education and upbringing are funda-mental for one. Certainly, for that it is neces-sary to have good teachers, whom we have." Besides studying well, Milena is good in

drawing, so you can always see some of herworks in the school, and the last one she hasdone is dedicated to the theme "Stop the vio-lence". "I like to draw, and I can draw prettywell. The teachers are always using mydrawings to demonstrate to the other stu-dents how something needs to be done nice-ly. Even my notebooks are pedantic and pret-ty, because I like everything to be in order."Besides taking care about how her notebookslook like, Milena is taking care of her friendstoo, who can not learn so well some lesson. That socializing reminds her of characters inher favorite book "Hajduci", where all thefriends are always together.

Besides all these obligations, she is attending musicalschool "Stevan Mokranjac", where she learned how to playthe piano and the flute. She is always participating in schoolplays, and she can also sing pretty well. "Last year I took partin an ethno singing competition in Brezovica, where I wassinging with two other girls and we won the third place. Thatwas a positive experience which I will always remember."

So, you had a chance to get to know another "Studentof the month", and that was Milena Antic from Gracanica. But, who we are going to introduce in the next edition,

remains a secret until you get ahold of the May's edition

of our magazine.

"Ujam".

Gospodin Rrustem Berisha

"It all started with my great-great-grandfather Dervishwho passed on his trade tohis son, my great grandfa-ther Tahir, who then passedit on to my grandfatherSadri, who passed it on tohis son, my father Meta, from whom I then willinglytook it over and it seemslikely now that my sonRexha will continue ourfamily trade. In this way, formore than 300 years, thismill has been the propertyof my family's, generationafter generation."

TThis is how Mr. RrustemBerisha begins tellingthe story about his fam-

ily's unique relation with thewater mill situated at theentrance of Isniq village inDecani municipality. The goodcondition of the stone buildingproves that despite its age,and with thanks to the dedica-tion and care of the membersof the family, this mill has sur-vived through the years and remains to this day functional.

Mr. Berisha attributes his spiritual bond with the mill to severalreasons. The first is the fact that this is one of the oldest buildingsin this area, and it has been so well preserved that it still looks as itdid centuries ago. Secondly, for generations his family haveworked in the mill and have earned their daily bread from this

activity, and lastly, is the social significance of the mill.In the past, a mill was not only the place where people would

grind their wheat or corn. As there were very few mills, sometimespeople had to wait for days until they could make use of the mill. "Ifonly these walls could talk, they could tell us all sorts of stories - bothhappy and sad. I say this because in this very mill, many relationsand friendships were founded. People would learn what was goingon in other villages and regions. There were also cases whereneedy people came to ask for some flour if they had no bread athome for their families. Every time this happened, my family wouldnever refuse to help," explains Mr. Berisha. He also emphasised thatthe mill doors have always been open to everybody, regardless oftheir ethnic background. What is more important is that during thetime people waited for their turn to grind, the Berisha family preparedfood for all of them. This is why it is inconceivable to Mr. Berisha andhis son to simply close the door on a tradition of over 300 years oldlet it become a part of history. They therefore continue to maintainthe building, the mill mechanisms and the water flow, which, some-times becomes blocked by garbage.

Mr. Berisha tells us that until today, his family carry on the tradi-tions passed down from their ancestors. This means that they do notcharge money for their services but that the payment is made in flour:for every hundred kilograms of flour ground, ten are taken as pay-ment. This practice is known as "Ujem". Mr. Berisha tells us that evenhis measuring bowl is inherited from his grandfather. From one hun-dred kilograms of flour ground, ten such bowls are taken, althoughwhen measured, this equals just around 8,5 kilos, and not ten, as isthe deal. "After I take these 10 bowls, my father has always urged meto return a handful of flour from my share to the client, to make surethat there is no loss on behalf of the client."

At the end of our conversation, Mr. Berisha told us how happy hewas that one of his sons is dedicated to carry on the family tradition. His greatest wish is that in the future, one of his nephews will decideto continue the family tradition, and ensure the preservation of thispearl in Kosovo's cultural heritage, known simply as "The TahirSadriaj Mill" of Isniq village.

"Njegovoobezbe|enje me je izbacilo vani,

popularnih elekto-pop pesama.

II f there's one thing Kesha knows how to do, it's tell stories. Here's a pretty good one: Three years ago, the aspiring popsinger and songwriter decided she wanted Prince to produce

her first album. So, she found out his address and drove to hisBeverly Hills home, where she paid the gardener five dollars tolet her squeeze herself under his front gate. Then she hiked upthe driveway (which was lined in purple velvet), let herself inthrough an unlocked side door, and rode the mirrored elevatorup to the third floor where the Purple One himself was jammingwith his band. "It was kind of awkward," she recalls, "but whocares, right? So I sat on one of the purple thrones in the roomuntil he noticed me, which he finally did. He was like, 'How thehell did you get in here?'" she says with a laugh. "His securitykicked me out, but not before I left him my demo CD wrapped ina giant purple bow." Kesha never did hear from Prince, but theincident speaks volumes about this 22-year-old newcomer's fire-cracker personality and determination.

Luckily, Keshawon't have to find outwhat regret feels like. She is currently atwork writing andrecording her debutalbum with executiveproducer Dr. Luke, who has scored No. 1smashes for BritneySpears, Katy Perry,Kelly Clarkson, AvrilLavigne, and Flo Rida. After falling for herplayful half-sung/half-rapped vocal deliveryon a rough demo,Luke brought Kesha toRCA Records, whichsigned her in February2009. The album -which will also featureKesha's collaborationswith veteran hit makerMax Martin (Pink,Kelly Clarkson, BritneySpears) and in-demand songwri-ter/producer BennyBlanco (Katy Perry,3OH!3, Spank Rock) -is shaping up to be anedgy collection ofhard-hitting electro-pop songs, made allthe more irresistible bytheir high-octane punkenergy and Kesha's irreverent lyrics and attitude. "I want mymusic to be fun, unapologetic, rowdy, quirky, humorous, andinteresting," she says, "but with substance behind it. I'm anemotional person underneath all my fronting. I want people tolisten to it and feel like they can relate."

Kesha credits her love for story-songs to spending her formative yearshanging out with veteran songwritersin Nashville. Her mom Pebe, a formerpunk-rock singer, is a songwriterwhose career took off in Music City inthe late '70s when a song she co-wrote, called "Old Flames Can't HoldA Candle To You," became a hit forJoe Sun in 1978 and a country chart-topper for Dolly Parton in 1980. But bythe time Kesha was born in 1987Pebe was going through a bad patch, struggling to support Kesha and herolder brother through her music. "Wewere on welfare and food stamps,"Kesha says. "One of my first memo-ries is my mom telling me, 'If you wantsomething, just take it.'" In 1991,Pebe moved the family back toNashville, where she had landed anew publishing deal. Kesha saw theinside of a lot of recording studios. "Ithought everyone grew up in a record-ing studio," she says. She attended amusic school in the Tennessee coun-tryside ("where some of the kids didn't

have any shoes," she recalls), took song writing classes, andfell in love with country music greats Johnny Cash, DollyParton, and Patsy Cline. "I'd listen to these beautiful songs andthey all told stories," she says."Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline continued on page 13

is one of my all-time favourite records." From timeto time, Pebe let Kesha sing on tracks she wasworking on. "My mom always told me, 'You have agood voice, practice singing,' so I'd sing every-thing all the time," Kesha says.

When Kesha was 17 years old, she quit highschool, "which was crazy because I was enrolledin an International Baccalaureate program andwas going to go to Columbia University and studypsychology," she says, "but I wanted to moveback to L.A. and pursue my music." That's whenshe met Dr. Luke. "I had been looking for afemale artist with an incredible, distinctive voicewho had her own style," Luke says. "Kesha didn'tsound like anybody else." Dr. Luke was alsoworking with red-hot hip-hop artist Flo Rida on atrack for his second album.

"Ovaj pisac nije hteo daveruje u zlo me|u ljudima.

Njegova poezija kre}e se u celini izme|u dva tradicionalnaopredeljenja, izme|u li~nih i kolektivnih ose}anja, ljubavi irodoljublja, idealne drage i napa}enog naroda.

U nekima odsvojih najpotresnijih pesama [anti} peva opatnji onih koji zauvek napu{taju svojudomovinu i odlaze u tu| svet ('Ostajteovdje', 'Hljeb'). U nizu pesama [anti} jeiskazao patnju i veli~inu radnog ~oveka,seljaka i radnika.

Dear readers, these are the verses of one of themost beautiful poems of Serbian poetry. "Theevening on reef" is still being recited on variousschool plays; therefore we can't forget who wrote it -the doyen of our literature, Aleksa Santic.

"This writer didn't want to believe in evil among people. Hehad some inner need to convert everything to pretty and ami-able", we were told by a 15 year old Jelena from Gracanica, whohas almost all of Šanti?'s publications that have so many critics. One of them is made by J.Ducic who stated for this writer that heis the biggest child of a Serbian literature.

His poetry is usually in between two traditional believes, between personal and collective feelings, love and patriotism, theideal dear and people who have suffered a lot. He developed intoa love poet under the effect of sevdalinka's (love songs), theMuslim folk poems. In his poems the oriental ambient of a gar-dens, fountains, early springs and maple butterflies isdescribed. And the girl described in poems isbejeweled with necklaces; she pos-sesses rich, provocative, but stillhidden beauty. In some ofthem the spirit and the toneof love songs are soeffective that they weresang as folk songs("Emina", "At thespring"). The poetis enthralled withthe richness of theworld, but he isnever in it, he iswatching it from afearful distance hid-den. Yearning, theemotional mood changesinto sorrow because of theunfulfilled love, mistakes in hisprivate life and loneliness like inthe poem "One tear", which is told to beone of the most sensitive love songs, of a patri-archal and reputable sincerity tone.

The Santic's poetic intimacy is imbued with a powerful emo-tion, enlightened by the flames of home. In the big elegy "Theevening before holiday", the heavy loneliness in an empty homeis more bearable thanks to the memories from childhood and theidyllic evenings around the stirred fire at the fire place when thewhole house was full of laughter, songs and stories, and the con-solation brought by poems of him and of "All his friends". Thefeeling of a brotherly love in his poems is being spread out inincreasingly bigger circles - to a family, friends and companions, dead and alive Serbian writers to whom he often dedicates hispoems, and to the nature as well. Also his social and patrioticpoetry, in which he has reached the highest artistic achieve-

ments, is enlightened by the light of a home and imbuedwith his warmth. In the sonnet "My homeland" the writersequals the homeland with the people. It is wherever hispeople are. The whole homeland is as like a home, andall people are like brothers.

The connection to the place of birth and home isdeep and constant; it's tearing causes the pain in thepoet's soul. In some of his most moving poems Šanti?

writes aboutthose who lefttheir homelandforever and leftto the other'sworld ("Stayhere", "The brad"). Inseries of poems Šanti?had expressed the suf-fering and greatness ofa working man, country-man and worker. Someof them are among hisfinest poems: "My ears","My fathers", "Theblacksmith" and "The undergroundpoem" dedicated to theworking class. The feel-ing of the cursed des-tiny of poor people, which is in the focus, isgiven in indirect, mod-

ern way through ambiguous symbols. Just like his idol J. J.Zmaj, Šanti? was popular in wide range of his

readers and was given a flatteringname: the people's poet, while

his purely artistic values werequite often challenged in

the critics of his time aswell as in the late

critics. With his

simple poems, inwhich the spon-taneous people'sstory flows like ariver, always

fresh and new,splashing and

piercing in many,concealed coasts of

ours, Šanti? is teachingus life even today.

Therefore we all read his work, love and accpet him.

"The blue offing Sleeps,

Chili dark falls. The peak of a black rock

Numbs The last red ray."

Aleksa Santic was born in Mostar 1868, where hestayed till the end of his life. He is one of the bestknown poets in the newer Serbian lyric. He had pub-lished his first song in 1886, and his first collection ofpoems in 1891. The biggest influence on Šanti?'s poet-ic developing besides Vojislav Ili?, had Zmaj from thedomestic poets, and Henrich Heine and other Germanromantics, from the foreign poets. The famous poetdied of tuberculosis, which was incurable at that time,in February 2nd 1924 in the city where he was born.

smo ga mogli ~uti kako ci~i.

svetu.

WWhile we were fishing with myfriends on the river Drini ibardhë (White Drin) for the

first time in my life I saw PeregrineFalcon. Apparently, it was nestingunder a bridge (Fshejtë bridge -Djakovica), and we heard itscreeching. It flew high above ourheads and landed in the bridge'srafters above me. Then it wasgone. From curiosity to knowmore about this kind of bird Istarted researching over the net. Ifound that Peregrine falcons areamong the world's most commonbirds of prey and live on all conti-nents except Antarctica. Theyprefer wide-open spaces, andthrive near coasts where shore-birds are common, but they canbe found everywhere from tundrato deserts. Peregrines are evenknown to live on bridges and sky-scrapers in major cities. An inter-esting fact is that the relationship

between Peregrine Falcons and humansgoes back thousands of years. Once high-

ly prolific and widespread throughoutthe world, Peregrine Falconswere commonly used in thepractice of Falconry.Peregrines are naturallydocile and easily lent them-selves to taming byhumans who saw theFalcon's

hunting prowess as an asset in hunting forfood. The Peregrine's magnificent speed andpower also made it the favourite bird for fal-coners in the Middle Ages. However as eggsand chicks of birds of prey were quite rareand expensive, and because the process ofraising and training a hawk or falcon requiresa great deal of time, money, and space, it waslargely restricted to the noble classes. Thefemale, which is slightly larger and more pow-erful than the male, was preferred, and onlyshe is given the title of "falcon". A male

Peregrine is referred to as a "tiercel"meaning third. Although falconry has

fallen out of favour, there are stillthose who practice it today espe-cially in the Middle East.

Physical DescriptionThere are 19 regional variants(subspecies) of peregrine falconworldwide. They vary considerablyin size and colour. Like all falcons,

peregrine falcons have long, taperedwings and a slim, short tail. In North

America they are roughlycrow sized, ranging in

length from between 36 and49 cm in males and 45 to 58

cm in females. Wingspanvaries from 91 to 112 cm. They weigh an

average of 907 g. Like most birds of prey, female peregrine falcons are slightly largerthan males. They are typically 15-20% largerand 40-50% heavier than males. Peregrinefalcons have slate and blue-gray wings, blackbars on their backs and pale underbellies.

They have white faces with a black stripe oneach cheek and large, dark eyes. Their lifes-pan is 15 years some can live as long as 20years.

Masters of the HuntPeregrine Falcons are raptors - which meanthey are birds which hunt and kill for food. They are very well adapted to the hunt, withstrong, sharp, curved beaks for tearing flesh, large, keen eyes for viewing prey at great dis-tances, and sharp, powerful claws (calledtalons) for clutching, and grasping their quarry.

Fascinating Facts• The peregrine is the fastest bird on

record reaching horizontal cruising speeds of105-110 kmh. The Peregrine Falcon is one ofthe fastest birds of prey, swooping down atspeeds of up to 440 km/h.

• Peregrine falcons have extraordinarilykeen vision. They can see small objects fromvery far away and accurately fly at highspeeds to capture them. Peregrine falconsprey almost exclusively on birds, which makeup 77 to 99% of prey items.

MMi novinari uvek smo u nekoj potrazi za dobrimpri~ama, i stalno ih pronalazimo. A, ovoga putaprona{li smo jednu interesantnu li~nost koju

On poma`e onimakoji su talentovani zaslikarstvo i muziku.

WW e journalists are always lookingfor a good story and we findthem all the time. This time we

found an interesting person whom wewant to introduce to you and that isZoran Zivkovic, the painter who uses oilpaints on canvas and plywood. Besidesthat, he also does graphics, sometimessculpture, pastels on paper and digitalphotography as well.

This time we met in Ugljare, the smalltown where the above mentioned painterlives and works. As soon as we haveseen an interesting yard with the cottageand few more interesting details, a wind-mill made from wood running on windand water, we knew right there that thispainter is undoubtedly creative. He toldus his life story that he begin with thewords: "I was born in 1953 in my parents'house, right there in that house itself, notin the hospital. That's the reason why I'memotionally connected to this yard, as

well as to the each tree that's in it". Hehad shown interest for painting since hewas a child and his idol was his older sis-ter who weaved. Once she was weavingon the white canvas and she was sup-posed to draw some figure on it first. Sheasked her brother to help her with draw-ing, and he did, of course. "It was doneby the pencil and some spoons and that'show I begin to create figures, flowers, butterflies and various things. I have been

given compliments that have encouragedme to think about drawing and colors".

Mr. Zivkovic was born as a twelfthchild in a poor family, when the life in thevillage was not easy. He had elderly par-ents who didn't understand his love forpainting and music. He has never hadtheir support, but that didn't affect him alot, since he done art for more than 30years. Since he was in the primaryschool, his teachers were supportinghim because he was the best and at thatperiod he was exposing his work during

school exhibits. "The paintings, books, and colors were the onlyawards I have been given and it wasthese symbolic awards that kept megoing further. When I realized whatone can do with the wonderful colorsand draw the flower that you can feelhis shape and scent, I was positively

surprised so I kept doing what I wasdoing the best - painting". The mostimportant paintings for him are the oneshe is emotionally in relation with, thepaintings of his parents, that are pre-cious to him and he hopes that, evenwhen he is gone, the next generationswill take care of them.

His artistic work was awarded manytimes, and he had his first individualexhibit in 2001 in Gracanica, showing the

work he created in years. The factthat he is trying to teach the youth hisskills shows that he is not limited tothe painting only. "The painting is mygreat love and my habit. Besides thatI'm trying to organize cultural activitiesfor the youth, not as an official but onvoluntary bases. I do that because Iknow even today there are young peoplewho are crying for inspiration and sup-port, just as I did once".

He helps to those who are gifted forpainting and music. There is a smallworkshop in his yard where the youthgathers sometimes and there some ofthem have painted their first landscapeor dull nature. The people in art know no

limits and are looking for the soul-mateswherever they are and whoever theymight be. This artist recommends to theyouth to do the art, because after themthere will remain works worth to be men-tioned and preserved.

zmaj" i pravi primer dobrebiznismenke.

Osnovni cilj ovog udru`enja jeste ekonomski razvoj iotvaranje novih radnih mesta za `ensku populaciju, kakobi imale lep{u bodu}nost i bolje `ivotne uslove.

tejnera u kojima }e otvoriti jo{ jednu radionicu u Gra~anici,{to }e ovim `enama zbog ve}e koncentracije stanovni{tva, pomo}i da lak{e prodaju svoje rukotvorine.

"Postala sam mnogo samopouzdanija i zado-voljnija.

GG ordana Djoricfrom Laplje Seloreally is an

extraordinary woman anda real example of a goodbusinesswoman. Whenwe met, she listed all thejobs and positions sheholds. We had a hardtime catching it all, andhad to ask if she everrests, to which sheresponded: "You can findtime for everything, butonly when you want to. Iwill not waste timesleeping or sitting, because I have sched-uled days in a positiveway." She found somefree time for us, to tell usmore about herAssociation of BusinessWomen: "Avenija."

The main office of the organization is in Gordana's home, where we were greeted by several women full of positiveenergy. It seems that the president of this association,Gordana Djoric, has a gift for spreading good energy and will-ingness to work. Their handicrafts were a treat to our eyes, since it is not every day that you see such beautiful embroi-dery on fabrics and garments. We saw "Krparice" (rags) thatour grandmothers used to weave and use, and are making acomeback in fashion.

The main objective of this association is economic develop-ment and job creation for the female population, in order to cre-ate a more promising future and raise living conditions. "Fromthe registration of our association in 2000, we have receivedfirst aid kits and sewing machines from KFOR. I am happyabout our cooperation with KFOR, because they supported usfrom the very beginning in many ways." In the middle of ourchat, Mrs. Djoric received a phone call from the Slovak office inPristina. She was told that thanks to KFOR her organization willreceive a donation of four containers, which they will use toopen another work-shop in Gracanica. This will be of greathelp to the women:due to the larger pop-ulation, it will be easi-er for them to selltheir handicrafts. "Wehave cooperated fan-tastically with KFORand several otherorganizations. Theseare organizationswhich have helped usfor many years, notonly financially, butalso by advising usvery well." Ms. Djorichas been devoted tobusiness and humani-tarian work for twentyyears already. Shewants to encourage

women to work and to start small family businesses. Shealso wants to pass on to them her experience as a busi-nesswoman and entrepreneur. The association has 300members from all over Kosovo, who are separated intothree groups: one group consists of women who have smallfamily businesses, another group consists of women deal-ing with traditional handicrafts, and the third group includeswomen who are unable to gather sufficient income to covertheir existence.

At "Avenija" you can meet ladies from 16 to 65 yearsof age. One of the younger ladies is the secretary of"Avenija", redhead Jelena Nedeljkovic, whose life haschanged since she started working for the association. "Ibecame more confident and satisfied. The positive energyhere is so strong that I can hardly wait to come to work, and this is allthanks toGordana. She isso supportive tous all. She sup-ports us witheverything, evenour wishes for

further improve-ment." "Avenija"'sscope of activity islarge, and includesthe sales and exhibi-tions of crafts fabricat-ed by members.Exhibitions are madeeven more successfulwith the accompani-ment of national cui-sine. "We have sentthe price list of ourmenu to some organi-zations, and we hopethat we will be invitedto prepare variousdishes for celebrationsand receptions. Thiswill provide the

women with another opportu-nity to earn some money",said the president of theassociation.

All the ladies who becomemembers of "Avenija" forgetabout everyday problems andtheir lives change for the bet-ter, because they becomeactive and employed, andthereby feel useful. If theysometimes do not feel well, they can spend a day in this"women's corner", andbecome noticeably morecheerful, braver and moreconfident. Ms. Gordana Djoricasked us to send out themessage that the door of"Avenija" is open to allwomen who want to socialize, meet others and learn.

Ovi likovi zvu~ekao standardni likovi ustereotipnim ulogama, ali uprilog Final Fantasy XIII ide toda oni prevazilaze standardnuformulu i nalaze put do va{egsrca. Kao i mnogi drugi uansamblu, uloga likova uFinal Fantasy-u, njih sma-trate starim prijateljima, akao stari prijatelji, oni }eodu{eviti va{ duh, zagre-jati va{e srce a ponekadvas i ogor~iti.

Dok kr~ite svoj put kroz svemirske brodovei kroz kristalne pe}ine, uski fokus putovanja }ebiti skoro isto toliko upadljiv, kao i lepa okolinakoja vas okru`uje.

To je sve prili~no zabavno i privla~no,naro~ito tokom borbi [efova. Nekoliko borbisu te{ke i zahtevaju nekoliko poku{aja, razli~ite kombinacije ~lanova va{e misije inekoliko razli~itih rasporeda pristupa pre tri-jumfa.

Snow-a, prebijaju}i|avole i |avolove sledbenike.

AA cocky self-proclaimedhero with a

charming sneer anda heart of gold. Asultry, no-nonsenseally you can rely

on for a sly quip and a warmhug. These characters sound like

standard role-playing stereotypes, but to Final Fantasy XIII's credit,

they transcend formula and wriggleinto your heart. Like many other Final

Fantasy ensemble casts, the misfits at thecenter of this tale feel like old friends, and

like old friends, they will excite your spirit, moveyour heart, and sometimes exasperate you. Their

story is grand and compelling--as absorbing as youcould hope for in a long role-playing game. That's just aswell, given the fun but flawed game woven around thisexcellent tale. This is an intensely focused, exceptionallylinear adventure that offers a few illusions of choice butnever makes good on them. Fortunately, the battle systemis fun and engaging once all of its elements fall into place, and it will keep you pushing forward even when the storylulls in the second half.

As you make your way across airships and through

crystal caverns, the journey'snarrow focus will be almost asstriking as the pretty environ-ments. Some games in theseries have been markedly lin-ear, but Final Fantasy XIII iseven more conspicuous in thisregard than its predecessors. While there are some excep-tions, such as in the previouslymentioned primeval grassland, you are generally moving in onedirection: forward. If you feeloutmatched in battle, you canbacktrack to take advantage ofresponding enemies and grow abit stronger before moving on,but you'll rarely need to do so.The linearity is even more pro-nounced because the walkwaysand corridors you follow areusually rather narrow, and there

are few extraneous tasks to pro-vide variety--no mini games tocomplete, no puzzles to solve, and aside from a few keymoments, no populated towns toinvestigate.

It's all quite fun andengaging, particularly duringboss fights. Several of thesefights are difficult and willrequire a few tries, a few differ-

ent party member combinations, and a fewdifferent paradigm layouts before you tri-umph. Much of the joy of combat comesfrom the way characters like Fang andSnow speed about, beating up on imps andwyverns. It also comes from the way thecamera moves around, framing the flashymoves while letting you take in importantvisual feedback like the name of a boss'sspell or the countdown timer that appearsover your head when doom is cast.Although controlling only a single characterat a time sounds limiting, don't assume bat-tles are hands-off affairs. While you can letthe game choose a default set of actionson your behalf, some late-game battlesbenefit from a bit of skill micromanagementon top of the usual paradigm fiddling. There will be smart challenges waiting foryou once you overcome the ease of theearly hours.

There are some elements that keepFinal Fantasy XIII from being everything itcould have been. Even so, it is still a legiti-mately great game for its stunning beauty, fantastic story, and enjoyable battles, whichmeans it has a lot in common with the FinalFantasy games that came before it.

I' decided to go fishing one morning. The

weather was nice. I got up at around six in

the morning; I looked through the window, it

was slowly snowing out there. Even though

it was a bad weather I decided to go, so I

started packing. I threw my gear in the car

and took off.

Somewhere in the middle of the trip the

car ran out of gas, so I took the canister and

ran to the nearest sink, filled it in, and emp-

tied it into the tank and moved on. Along the

way the stags, boars and squirrels were

hitchhiking, but I didn't pick them up because

my car was stuffed with gear and baits.

When I got to the spot which was free of

men, I parked my car in shoal water and

started with unpacking. The other fishermen

were going up the river and I was going

down the river in order to find a good fishing

place. I put together one fishing rod, baited

the hook and started to put another one

together. While I was doing it, a fish came

out of water, came to the bait, swallowed it

and went back to the water. I hurried to get

to the fishing rod, pulled it out and there I've

seen: the caught fish had two little fishes in

its hands. They asked me to let them go and

promised to come back when they grow up.

After that a fishing guardian came and

asked for my permission to fish. I told him

that I don't have one so he forbid me to con-

tinue fishing.

I packed everything in the car and took

off home. Along the way, I picked up two

stags and together with them I stopped by a

bar to have a beer. They kept drinking, and I

went home. I wasn't married, but when I got

NNe verujemoda i{ta mo`eda nas

Svi mi ponekad imamoneke pote{ko}e u svakod-nevnom `ivotu i radu.

II do not believe that anything can impress us the way chil-dren can; we say this because of the way we werecharmed by nine-year old Rina Aliu a surprisingly talkative

girl. She lives in the village of Brod, in the municipality ofStrpce, and gave us an impressive comprehension of her newschool building. When we saw her, our first impressions werethat she was very shy, and that we would have to ask a lot ofquestions to get her to talk to us. It was enough to ask justone question - on what she thinks about the new school, andRina began to speak without any shyness or confusion.

Honestly, we did not expect such a monologue from a child:"They started to build this school two years ago, and they did

not complete it ontime. After that, how-ever, new workerscame who workedfaster and managed tocomplete the construc-tion work in very littletime. Before, we hadto walk for severalmiles, and now we donot need as much timeto get from home toschool and vice versa. For us it was hard towalk on wet andmuddy roads, and nowwe do not have theseproblems because wehave better condi-tions." Our visit to thisschool was special forthe students; we couldsee that by just look-ing at their faces.

Some of them even stood at the door in order to be pho-tographed with us or to just shake hands with us, and wewatched them as they ranaround happily.

In an interview with AvniLimani, the director of "RazimCokli" primary school in the vil-lage of Brod, we learned thatthe villagers were the oneswho requested the better edu-cation for their 150 students, through a closer and newerschool. "Construction andreconstruction of schools is ofgreat importance for all of us.We now have improved work-ing conditions, because wepreviously worked in very poorconditions. Most importantly, itis easier now for children tocome to school and to followtheir classes, because schoolis much closer now. I must saythat the hygiene level is alsomuch higher and the heatingworks much better."

However, this is not the

only school that was recentlybuilt in the municipality ofStrpce; the village of Sevcehas also been granted a newschool which will open inSeptember, and be attended by230 pupils. Previously, this wasa preassembled school with alimited lifetime. Some studentsare currently housed in tempo-rary facilities which are ownedby the municipal cooperativeand do not meet the basicrequirements in which to con-duct classes. With only a littlefinishing work remaining, relo-cated students will return totheir original school, "SarskiOdred", which is now morebeautiful and certainly meetsthe expectations of students, teachers and parents.Overjoyed by the ideal condi-tions provided by the newbuilding, chief accountant ofthe school, Bosko Milenkovic,

told us that the work on this building started in 2007 and is nownearing an end. "At the moment, children have bad workingconditions. All they have at the moment are boards, desks andchairs. Some of them have settled in Jazince, Vrbestica, in tem-porary facilities. We cannot wait to be settled into the newschool and to start working in normal conditions."

Municipal workers are also glad for the new school build-ings, because, as they told us, it is only through education thatwe can have a prosperous future. A director of the Departmentfor Culture, Sport and Youth at the municipality, Tasa Radic, personally led us on a tour of the new schools and pointed outthat they are both modern and built according to European stan-dards. "It is certain that the construction and reconstruction ofthese facilities represents progress and provides ideal new con-ditions. I believe that by investing in education we can provide amore normalised life for children."

No problem is without solution, especially if we have some-one to support us. With its good will and donations towards theconstruction of schools, the European Agency forReconstruction and Development have provided a solution.

IIako je prili~no rasprostranjen u zapadnoj Evropi, ovajsport i dalje ostaje nepoznat {iroj javnosti u preostalimdelovima Evrope i ve}eg dela sveta. Istorijski gledano

Historically all over the world one of the major human pre-occupations has been and remains entertainment and themost usual form was playing games. Thus many activitiesor games have been developed through time only to beknown today as sports. Some of them as football, basket-

ball, handball, athletics etc. have gained popularity and arespread all over the world. But, not all sports are equallyspread internationally although in their countries of originthey are very important. In this issue we will mention someof these sports that are very unique.

Rugby football

AA lthough quite spread in Western Europe still this sport remainsunknown to the wide audience in the rest of Europe and forthe most parts of the world. Historically it can not be claimed

that this sport was invented as a field-game resembling rugby footballwas a game played by ancient Greeks called episkyros. In Walessuch a sport is called cnapan or "criapan", and has medieval roots. The old Irish predecessor of rugby may be caid. The Cornish called it"hurling to goals" which dates back to the bronze age. East Anglians"Campball", the French "La Soule" or "Chole" (a rough-and-tumblecross-country game). English villages were certainly playing games of'fute ball' during the 1100s. English boarding schools would certainlyhave developed their own variants of this game as soon as they wereestablished-the Eton Wall Game being one example. The "invention"of rugby was therefore not the act of playing early forms of the gameat Rugby School or elsewhere but rather the events which led up to

its codification. However it should be emphasised that it was in 1870that the boys from Rugby School produced the first written rules fortheir version of the sport and soon after these rules were adoptedacross the country. The aim of the game is that the teams aim tocarry the ball towards of the end of the field of their opponent sideand based on certain rules how the teams can do that today there aretwo main rugby codes: league and union. The most distinctive fea-tures common to both rugby codes include the oval ball and the banon passing the ball forward, so that players can gain ground only byrunning with the ball or by kicking it. The main differences betweenthe two games, besides league having teams of 13 players and unionof 15, involve the tackle and its aftermath: Union players contest pos-session following the tackle: depending on the situation, either a ruckor a maul can occur. League players may not contest possessionafter making a tackle: play iscontinued with a play-the-ball. continued on page 39

Keltski fudbal

spada u dva najgledanija sporta u Irskoj. Igra~i prenose loptu

napred na terenu kombinacijom no{enja, solo-vanja (bacanjem a zatim {utiranjem lopte navi{ei hvatanjem u ruke), {utiranja i dodavanja ruka-ma svojim saigra~ima. Statistika pokazuje daigra privla~i zna~ajno vi{e gledalaca nego bilokoji drugi sport u Irskoj; 2005 ESRI podatcipokazuju da privla~i 34% ukupne publike nasportskim de{avanjima u Irskoj, gde im jenajve}i rival hurling koji privla~i 23%. Veruje seda igra poti~e od starog irskog fudbala poznatogkao kejd koji datira jo{ iz srednjeg veka, iakosavremena pravila nisu doneta sve do 1886.

Hurling

Gaelic football

GG aelic football (Irish: Peil, Peil Ghaelach, or Caid), com-monly referred to as "Football", "Gaelic", or "Gah" is aform of football played mainly in Ireland. It is, together

with hurling, one of the two most popular spectator sports inIreland. Football is played by teams of 15 on a rectangular grasspitch with H-shaped goals at each end. Similar to rugby the pri-mary object is to score by kicking or striking the ball with the

hand and getting itthrough the goals. Theteam with the highestscore at the end of thematch wins. Playersadvance the ball upthe field with a combi-nation of carrying, soloing (dropping andthen toe-kicking theball upward into thehands), kicking, andhand-passing to theirteam-mates. The levelof tackling allowed ismore robust than inassociation football(soccer), but less thanrugby. Statistics showthe game drawing sig-nificantly more specta-tors than any othersport in Ireland; 2005ESRI figures indicatethat it draws 34% oftotal attendances at sports events in Ireland, with the closestrival, hurling drawing 23%.

The game is believed to have descended from ancient Irishfootball known as caid which dates back to medieval times, although the modern rules were not set down until 1886.

Hurling

HH urling is an outdoor team sport of ancient Gaelic origin, administeredby the Gaelic Athletic Association, and played with sticks called hur-leys and a ball called a sliotar. The game, played primarily in Ireland,

has prehistoric origins and is thought to be the world's fastest field teamsport in terms of game play. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it sharesa number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, num-ber of players, and much terminology. There is a similar game for womencalled camogie (camógaíocht). The object of the game is for players to usea wooden stick called a hurley to hit a small ball called a sliotar between theopponents' goalposts either over the crossbar for one point, or under thecrossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for one goal, which is equiva-lent to three points. The sliotar can be caught in the hand and carried fornot more than four steps, struck in the air, or struck on the ground with thehurl. It can be kicked or slapped with an open hand (the hand pass) forshort-range passing. A player who wants to carry the ball for more thanthree steps has to bounce or balance the sliotar on the end of the stick andthe ball can only be handled twice while in his possession. Side to sideshouldering is allowed although body-checking or shoulder-charging is ille-gal. No protective padding is worn by players. A plastic protective helmetwith faceguard is mandatory for players.

In league, if the team in possession fails to score before a set of sixtackles, it surrenders possession. Union has no six-tackle rule; a teamcan keep the ball for an unlimited number of tackles before scoring aslong as it maintains possession and does not commit an offence. Setpieces of the union code include the scrum, where packs of opposingplayers push against each other for possession, and the lineout, where parallel lines of players from each team, arranged perpendicu-lar to the touch-line (the side line) attempt to catch the ball thrownfrom touch (the area behind the touch-line). In the league code, thescrum still exists, but with greatly reduced importance as it is rarelycontested and involves far less players making the scrum academic.Set pieces are generally started from the play-the-ball situation. Manyof the rugby league positions have similar names and requirements torugby union positions but there are no flankers in rugby league.

Ovo namje rekao komandant LMTterenske ku}e u Orahovcu, majorKurt Findels, i to onda kada smoga pitali o radu i zadacimajedinice koju on vodi.

pomognemo."

LMT Ekipa u Orahovcu

"Prior to beginning theirLMT service in Kosovo, everysoldier must complete a spe-cial course which will acquaintthem with the nature of thework which awaits them. Atthe same time, one could saythat LMTs are military unitsthat cannot work nor functionaccording to strict orders fromtheir superiors but are ratherbased on guidelines. This isbecause the duty, the mission,of LMTs is to listen to whatpeople have to tell them." Thisis how major Kurt Findels,LMT commander of the FieldHouse in Rahovec, explainedthe work and duties of his unit.Indeed, the fact that duringtheir service in Kosovo thisteam of eight soldiers doesnot spend a single day in any

of KFOR's military bases but are instead stationed in ahouse only a few minutes away from the centre of town isthe best indicator of the unique nature of their work. Whenwe also consider the fact that this house has a 24 hours aday, seven days a week walk in service for all civilians, regardless who they are or what they come for, the motto"We listen to You" rings very true. Another important aspectof their work, according to major Findels, is that the LMTsoldiers always encourage people to direct their needs tothe proper institution or office. Whenever needed, LMT sol-diers help civilians in finding the proper contacts, and some-times even assist in setting up meetings with them. Whenasked about the most common problems faced by peoplefrom their AOR, major Findels quite happily says that nowa-days, interethnic problems are no longer the major concernand have been surpassed by everyday problems such aslack of electricity and water and such.

During our visit to this field house we also had thechance to talk with Mr. Hilmi Shala, one of the permanentlyhired translators of this unit, who explained that the househas become an important link to all the inhabitants ofRahovec. This is, according to him, what makes his job soenjoyable, even though it is not always easy. He remindedus that although he has regular working hours, he has to beon call 24 hours a day as a translator due to the fact that

the house is open to all atany time. "The inhabitantsof the area come to thishouse for different rea-sons, asking for assis-tance in solving individualand collective problems. So far, I do not know asingle case of someonebeing turned away."

Mr. Neki Kollari, commander of theRahovec Fire Brigade, had only words ofappraisal and gratitude forthe LMTs and their work.As he told us, there arecountless occasions inwhich the LMTs haveintermediated and servedas a bridge in offeringhelp and developingcooperation betweenKFOR and his firebrigade. According to him,

the LMT's biggest achievement is that throughtheir work and dedication, they have managedto develop strong bonds of friendship betweenthe local population and KFOR.

On the importance of the work of LMTs, wealso spoke to Mr. Naser Kastrati, EducationOfficial at the directorate of Education andCulture in the Municipality of Peja. Althoughkilometres away from our abovementionedlocation, Mr. Kastrati also only had words ofappraisal for the LMT teams that are active inthis area. "Of course their way of working isvery good because you can never plan some-thing properly without first discussing andanalyzing it in detail. I might also add that thisway of working has made an impact on us asa directorate and we have started to apply itin our own communication with the students. We have come to realise that it is only by lis-tening to their needs and problems that wewill be able to truly help them."

Marija Cerovina (14)It didn't happen to me tocry because of some badgrade. Otherwise I'm an

excellent stu-dent, so I nevergot a low grade.I work veryhard, I study andI always listencarefully to theteachers while inclass. And that,of course, helpsme to easier

overcome knowledge orsome subject that I needto learn. I know as muchas I learn, and sometimesit happens to me to get 2,but I don't worry about itat all.

Slavko Milic (14)I don't remember that Iever cried because ofsome bad grade, but cer-tainly I felt sorry becauseof it. I love Serbian lan-

guage the mostof all subjects, but quite often ithappens to meto get 2. Ialways getready forSerbian lan-guage exam andtry to somehowlearn it well, but

at the end I get badgrade just because of afew mistakes.

Lazar Stanojevi} (14)Da, ja jesam plakao vi{e puta, i to zbog tihlo{ih ocena. Dobijao sam lo{e ocene iz vi{epredmeta, i to iz fizike, srpskog i matematike.Mislim da mi ni sada to nisu najomiljeniji pred-meti, i to ba{ zbog tog lo{eg iskustva.

Lazar Stanojevic (14)Yes, I have cried several times because ofbad grades. I was getting bad grades inmore subjects: physics, Serbian and math. Ithink that even now, those are not my favoritesubjects, just because of that bad experience.I frequently study and I'm always ready forthe exams.

Nemanja Trajkovic (14)I constantly do the homework, and Ialways pay attention to the teachers whilethey teach some subject. When I get somebad grade, I simply don't want to cry ariver because of it; I think we should notcry, not even when we get 1.

Cut these six pieces and try to put them togetherand you will get a message from KFOR.

Miljan Mili} (14)Ja sam jednom, i to uskorije vreme, plakaozbog slabe ocene kojusam dobio iz geografi-je. Spremao sam seza to odgo-varanje,me|utim, pro-fesor mi jepostavio jednopitanje na kojeja nisam daota~an odgovori dobio samjedinicu.Zapravo, nisam znaoda ka`em gde seta~no nalazi severniledeni okean.

Miljan Milic (14)I did once; it wasrecently, I have criedbecause of a badgrade that I receivedin geography. I was

preparing forthat exam,but, the pro-fessor askedme somequestion thatI didn'tanswered cor-rectly and Igot 1.Actually, I

didn't know how toexplain where exactlythe Arctic Ocean is.

Jelenko Jovanovi} (14)Nikada nisam plakaozbog neke slabeocene.

Jelenko Jovanovic (14)I have never cr iedbecause of some badgrade. Of course Iscored some badgrades, but I th ink

that i t is not areason to cry.I a lways try tolearn the les-sons, and i f i thappens tome not toscore thegrade Ideserved, i t isnot " the end
