Questo libro racconta storie che si dipanano in

diverse ramificazioni, esaltando l’espressione del

sé, esplorando questioni che vanno dal mondano

allo scomodo e a tutto ciò che esiste nel mezzo.

Diversi registri vengono usati, dalle fotografie di

soggetti singoli, alle sequenze che narrano sto-

rie, alla musica che, anche attraverso la potenza

delle immagini evocate, raccontano stati d’animo

di ogni protagonista. Il comune denominatore è

la bellezza, declinata in tutte le sue forme. Ogni

figura, ogni volto, ogni nota vengono studiati sa-

pientemente e meticolosamente, per guidarci e

coinvolgere tutti i nostri sensi, regalandoci un’e-

sperienza completa. Qui, nulla è lasciato al caso.

Ogni figura, ogni volto, ogni nota parlano e ci rac-

contano di sé, di sogni realizzati e di ossessioni,

a volte rivisitano miti. Aprono porte, seducendoci

all’entrata.E nulla, qui, é lasciato al caso.

This book tells stories which spawned into seve-

ral branches. Through the many expressions of

the self, issues ranging from the mundane to un-

comfortable truths, and all that lies in between are

explored. Different styles have been used, such as

photographs of individuals, sequences telling sto-

ries, and music which through the power of the

evoked images give us a glimpse of every prota-

gonist’s mood. The common denominator here is

beauty, in all its declinations. Each shape, or face,

or musical note have been meticulously studied

to guide and involve all our senses, thus giving us

an unforgettable experience. Here, nothing has

been left to chance. Each shape, each face, and

each musical note speak and talk about themsel-

ves, about their dreams come true and their ob-

sessions. Sometimes, they even revisit miìythol-

ogies. They open doors for us and seduce us at

the entrance. Indeed, here nothing has been left

to chance.

Look at me, I am beautiful. You have looked for

me, you have desired me. You have even offered

me more than you could afford. Your loneliness

meets mine, both disguised by our lap of luxury.

Look at me and maybe you will find a part of you.

I will find myself. At the bottom of your strikes, I

shall not be a victim anymore. We have now be-

come accomplices. It will be easier to switch our

roles. Who’s the victim, now? Look at me, does it

hurt? No, knowing it is not enough, I want you to

look at me, while you ask me to let you live. While,

instead, you die.

Guardami, sono bella. Mi hai cercata, hai voluto

me, offrendomi forse più di quanto tu possa per-

metterti. Nella tua solitudine che incontra la mia,

sapientemente mascherate dal lusso sfrenato di

cui ci circondiamo, tu guardami, e forse troverai

un pezzo di te. E io troverò me. In fondo a quei

colpi, non più vittima. Siamo complici, io e te e ci

sarà facile scambiarci di ruolo. Chi è la vittima,

ora? Guardami, fa male? Ecco, non mi basta sa-

perlo, voglio che mi guardi, mentre mi chiedi di

lasciarti vivere. Mentre muori.

Take care of me, because I can’t do it myself. I am

here, still, and I weigh on other people’s existen-

ce. I weigh on the existence of the one who has

made me. I don’t know what sound the sea makes,

I can’t smell the air, I can’t even cry when I feel that

very incomprehensible air gliding onto my skin as

if it wanted to break into this shell that everybody

except me calls a body. As I can’t feel my own. I

can’t scream but, if you come closer to my heart,

you might feel that no matter what I am alive. This

is my cry. Take care of me.

Abbi cura di me, ché io non ci riesco. Sono qui,

immobile, a pesare sulle esistenze altrui e su

quella di chi mi ha creato. Non conosco il suo-

no del mare, non posso annusarne l’aria, non

posso neanche piangere quando sento quella

stessa aria che non riesco a capire scivolarmi

sulla pelle, quasi a intaccare la corazza che tutti

chiamano corpo. Tutti, tranne me. Il corpo non lo

percepisco. Non posso urlare ma, se avvicinate

l’orecchio al mio cuore, potrete sentire che, no-

nostante tutto, io vivo. Questo è il mio grido, abbi

cura di me.

Through the photographer’s lens who we are co-

mes out in the open, with all our dreams and their

fulfillment and all we have done to make our dre-

ams come true. Our dreams, crystalized in time

and in an idea, we can see our dreams – look at

us, we are beautiful- and we can go back in time,

thinking of all the sacrifices and all we’ve accom-

plished. It is called Art, in all its meanings. When

we turn back, our own “self” is still there, as to re-

mind us all the steps we have walked to get where

we are now.

Attraverso la lente del fotografo, ciò che siamo

veramente esce allo scoperto. Con i sogni e le

realizzazioni dei sogni e il lavoro fatto per rag-

giungere i sogni. I sogni. Immortalati negli attimi,

cristallizzati dentro un’idea, li possiamo guardare

(guardateci, siamo belli) ripensando ai sacrifici e

a ciò che ci è riuscito di fare. Arte. In ogni sua de-

clinazione. E quando ci voltiamo, il nostro “io” è

lì, in perenne ricordo dei passi e della strada fatti

per arrivare dove siamo ora.

As Narcissus loved himself so much so he died

out of his own vanity, the same way I only think of

my own image refl ected in my phone. My image

disfi gured now by the accident – anyway, I don’t

care about the accident, it actually brings me

likes-, is now telling me I am still alive. It rubs it in

my face. I won over Narcissus, as I have defeated

death. The wounds will heal. In the meantime, I

will be able to disguise them with make-up and

the fi lters in the mirror I call my phone. He who is

inside the car is probably sleeping. At least, this is

what I think. I’ll wait before checking he is ok. But

fi rst, it’s time for another selfi e.

Come Narciso si amava così tanto da morire del-

la sua stessa vanità, così io non mi curo che della

mia immagine. Mentre mi specchio nel mio tele-

fono, l’immagine deturpata nell’incidente -ma chi

lo nota l’incidente, anzi mi porta più consensi- mi

parla, mi sbatte in faccia che sono viva, e questo

è un punto in più di Narciso. Io sono meglio di

Narciso, perché sono sfuggita alla morte. Le fe-

rite si rimarginano e riuscirò a nasconderle con il

trucco e i fi ltri del mio specchio, il telefono. E lui,

lui dentro quell’auto. Lui dorme. O almeno così

pare. Aspetterò un altro minuto prima di svegliar-

lo. Giusto il tempo per un altro selfi e.

Behind all the strenght, the struggle, and the sa-

crifice is a daze and one can lose their tracks and

be dragged in a dreamlike state of mind. Like chil-

dren we play the game of war, because we belie-

ve we can wipe away the clouds, so that we can

see clearly again. But now we are ready to fight.

We will find that one door, among the many doors

along our path, the one we will manage to open

without needing the key. Over there we will then

take a rest.

Dietro la forza, e la lotta, e il sacrificio si nascon-

de una nebbia che può far perdere il senso dell’o-

rientamento, trascinandoci in un mondo onirico.

E, come bambini, giochiamo alla guerra, perché

crediamo che con il solo pensiero riusciremo a

dissipare le nubi e a tornare a vederci chiaro. Al

momento siamo pronti a combattere. Tra le tante

porte troveremo quella che si apre senza chiave

e al di là finalmente potremo riposare.

You don’t know what is in this case. I shall never

say. I have been held captive, I have been tortu-

red and chained, but I will keep my secret. What

makes you think my life is worth more than what

is inside that case? I’ve got nothing to lose. You,

however, have got everything to lose. So. Yes. My

life is worth a lot more than you think. It is as wor-

th as the key I have hidden and that you will never

fi nd if you kill me. Who got it wrong now? I, who

let myself get caught like a fool? You, who are hol-

ding this gun to my head, while you know that if I

lose the game, you will be losing it, too?

Tu non sai cosa ci sia nella valigia, è inutile, non lo

rivelerò mai. Mi hai catturata, torturata, incatena-

ta, ma manterrò il mio segreto. Cosa ti fa pensare

che la mia vita valga di più di ciò che vi è dentro?

Non ho nulla da perdere. TU, invece, hai tutto da

perdere. Quindi sì, la mia vita ha un valore immen-

so. Come la chiave che ho nascosta e che, ucci-

dendomi, non troverai. Chi ha, dunque, sbagliato?

Io, che mi sono fatta prendere come una sciocca?

The beauty of travelling lies in getting lost. You

always find your way back. The true beauty of

travelling lies in facing it sometimes by yourself,

so you can find yourself a little more easily. I am

alone, today. I am lost, today. But I know I will find

myself again. Along my path I find new places,

which I would have never seen if I hadn’t taken the

wrong turn. So, getting lost in these mountains in

total silence is a gift to me and I welcome it. I can

hear myself thinking and the world around me be-

comes alive, even if there isn’t a living soul, except

my own.

La bellezza del viaggio sta nel perdersi. Ci si ritro-

va sempre. La vera bellezza del viaggio sta nell’af-

frontarlo, a volte, da soli, per trovarsi un po’ di più.

Oggi sono sola, mi sono persa, ma mi ritrovo sem-

pre. Lungo il tragitto scopro nuovi luoghi, che non

avrei mai visto se non avessi sbagliato strada.

Allora io nel viaggio accolgo il perdermi tra queste

montagne, nel completo silenzio. Posso ascoltare

i miei pensieri e il mondo intorno a me si anima,

pur non essendoci un’anima, se non la mia.

Look at me. I am here for this reason. Nature and

I are alike, we are beautiful and savages. This is

why we understand each other’s rhythms, even

in the simplest gestures. My beauty makes them

solemn, even when what we do seems to be such

a predictable ritual. I show what I hold inside my

soul, I show it to everybody for them to see me

without any effort. I don’t want to be interpreted,

but show myself for who I am. After all, all is ea-

sier than it might look like. Truth is, I am here to

be admired.

Guardatemi. Sono qui per questo. Io e la natura

siamo simili, belle, selvatiche, per questo capiamo

i ritmi l’una dell’altra. Anche nei gesti più semplici,

quelli che ai più possono sembrare ritualità scon-

tate, la mia bellezza li rende quasi solenni. Ciò che

ho dentro lo esprimo fuori, lo mostro a tutti perché

mi vedano senza sforzo alcuno, non voglio che mi

interpretino, voglio mostrami per ciò che sono. In

fondo tutto è più semplice di quello che sembri.

La verità è: sono qui perché mi si guardi.

Attraverso l’arte si possono offrire molte chiavi di lettura, si possono traccia-re differenti collegamenti tra personaggi e tra mezzi di espressione, trovando sempre dei punti d’incontro, anche quando punti d’incontro sembrano non esserci. Il genio, la vera arte sta in questo, nel creare un filo, nel tracciare un percorso che venga seguito. Cosa si incontri durante il viaggio è personale. Importante è arrivare alla fine, anche perdendosi, ma arrivare. E, possibilmen-te, godersi la vista.

Through art one can offer many interpretations. It is possible to make con-nections among the characters and means of expressions while always fin-ding a meeting ground, even when such ground seems to be non-existent. Genius and true art lie in creating a thread and tracing a path to be followed. What one may meet during the journey is strictly personal. What is important is making it to the end, even if this means getting lost. What is important is making it to end while, possibly, enjoying the ride we call life.
