welcomeFáilte Róimh go léir go dtí Meánscoil na mBráithre Críostaí, An Fhaiche, Trá Lí !
The Green is a Catholic all-boys secondary school catering for 620 boys. The schoolis proud of its record in the provision of quality education to families in Tralee andthe surrounding area. It is a record that the school community intends to maintain.
Our primary aim is to encourage each student of CBS The Green, to be
a self-confident, inquiring, tolerant, positive young man, a well rounded
character with an independent mind, an individual who respects the
difference of others. By the time he leaves the school, we want each boy
to have that true sense of self-worth which will enable him to stand for
himself and for a purpose greater than himself and, in doing so be of value
to society.
At the heart of the school is its distinctive Catholic Ethos, which is shown
through the excellent relationships which exist between staff and students.
A shared vision for the school is held by staff, students and parents, which
has created a very strong caring and cohesive community based on
Christian values of love, respect and compassion for others.
The school has highly qualified and committed specialist teachers. It has
excellent facilities and has recently benefited from a €5 million capital
development. We promote the highest academic standards in The Green with a high percentage of students going to Universities and third level
institutions in Ireland and abroad.
CBS The Green is a thriving environment for students. We hope your son
will be happy, challenged and fulfilled as he pursues his education in The Green.

Aims
The Green is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in all areas
of education. Our aim is to generate and maintain an inclusive
climate of learning within which every student is enabled to
develop and fulfil his own unique potential.
It is our aim that every student who moves on from The Green
will be equipped not only to make his own way in the world, but
also to make his particular contribution to society and at the
same time to continue his lifelong learning process.
The Green aims to foster an atmosphere of respect,
understanding and encouragement between all who teach and
learn in the school, so that the development and contribution of
every individual can be acknowledged and valued, and all can
work together to benefit personal growth and the common good.
Transition from Primary to Secondary
At The Green we are very aware that the transition from primary
school to secondary school can be a very daunting step in a
young person’s life. We make every effort to ensure that this
step is an exciting and positive one.
Each pupil is assigned a base class for the year. Each class has its
own tutor, an experienced member of staff whose role it is to look
after the well-being of each pupil in that class group.
First Years are designated two Year heads who liaise with
parents, students and tutors on a daily basis.
Consistently over 90%of our leaving Certificate cohortprogress to Third level
The Ethos of our school is that of Edmund rice, the founder of the Christian Brother’s Schools.
Our ethos is one that values and prizes each student as an individual created and blessed by
God. The Green recognizes that each student in our school family has unique talents and gifts
to offer to the world around him. The Green seeks to develop each boy’s talents to his highest
potential in a caring environment that continuously respects, encourages and affirms his
efforts at achieving his own personal goals.

curriculumTralee CBS takes a broad view of education and believes that success in education is measured by
much more than results in the State Examinations; nonetheless it strives for academic excellence.
The School has an excellent record in the State Examinations, with the vast majority of its students
going on to University and third level colleges.
EXCEllInG In TEAChInG And lEArnInGThe Edmund rice School is a community of people dedicated to the pursuit ofexcellence in all its endeavours and in all aspects of its teaching and learning.
All junior cycle students study subjects leading to the Junior Certificate, the
State Examination, taken at the end of third year.
While a majority of subjects are assessed as part of the Junior Certificate
Examination, the junior cycle provision also includes a number of subjects that
are integral to the curriculum, but are not formally assessed in this way. The
inclusion of these subjects in the curriculum ensures that students receive a
broad, balanced education that introduces them to all the areas of experience
relevant to the needs of learners at this age and stage of their development.
non-examination subjects at junior cycle include Physical Education, Social,
Personal and health Education and Computer Studies.

The Green calls Transition Year Students,
to reach heights they never knew
possible, to start the climb of opportunity,
experience diversity, challenge and
enjoyment. We encourage and help new
students to rise to new challenges and to
take new roads of experience. Students
are exposed to a vast array of projects,
subjects, modules and outings. They
practise new methods of learning and are
given opportunities to improve social
and communication skills.
Promoting Entrepreneurship
Over the past number of years students from The Green have
participated and excelled in the Young Entrepreneur Programme
and the County Enterprise Board Student Enterprise Awards
Programme. Students from The Green have won best school in the
Young Entrepreneur Competition 3 times in the past 5 years since
the Programme’s inception. The Green are overall national winners
of the competition in 2012.
These programmes complement traditional learning by linking
workshops, case studies and interaction with key business leaders
along with the pupils own ideas’. For anyone thinking of starting
a business now or in the future this programme presents an ideal
opportunity. The pupils unlock their own creativity, focus their
inspiration and challenge themselves with confidence. The
programme also partners students with business people & business
mentors and provides a real business environment for students.

research shows that participation in youth sports helps children improve the physical, social,
emotional and academic aspects of their lives. In addition, the experiences of youth sports
influences their behaviour as adults. Youth sports helps to promote physical fitness and counter
the rising tide of childhood obesity and other health problems.
Physical Education is offered to students of all ages within the
