□□ TPO Meetings and Events

1. TPO Executive Committee Meeting

In order to discuss the 2006 joint program and decide on the

admission of new members, the Executive Committee meeting

will be convened as follows:

○ Outline

▷ Dates:

The 8th Executive Committee meeting – April 5-7, 2006

The 9th Executive Committee meeting –

2 November, 2006 (during the TPO Forum 2006)

▷ Venues:

The 8th Executive Committee meeting - Ho Chi Minh City,

Vietnam

The 9th Executive Committee meeting - Hangzhou, China

▷ Participants: executive members of twelve cities and one

industry member – executive member cities from Busan,

Fukuoka, Guangzhou, Honolulu, Brisbane, Auckland, Manila,

Ipoh, Jakarta, Bangkok, Vladivostok and Ho Chi Minh City,

and the MCM Group Holdings, Ltd.(Honolulu)

○ Requests

▷ All executive members are requested to submit applications

to the Secretariat by February 15, 2006.

▷ Attached, please find the announcement of the meeting.

2. TPO Forum 2006

The Forum will be held to collect ideas and exchange

information on tourism among working-level officers of member

cities for the development of joint projects.

○ Outline

▷ Date: 31 October–2 November, 2006

(three days and two nights)

▷ Venue: Hangzhou, China

▷ Participants: Working-level delegates from all member cities

and industries.

○ Requests:

▷ For your information, the brochure of the forum will be sent

to you soon.

▷ Every city and industry member is requested to participate

in the meeting

3. Workshop for High-ranking Officials of TPO

Member Cities

A workshop is planned to be held in order for high-ranking

officials from member cities to cultivate their management

capacity in the field of the tourism industry, and thus, to

contribute to the development of a tourism-related business in

their cities.

○ Outline

▷ Date: Around February 2007

▷ Venue: Not fixed

▷ Participants: Managerial positions in governments and private

organizations

▷ Subjects: Crisis management in the tourism industry

-estimation of countermeasures after the South Asian

catastrophe

-crisis management in the tourism administration

-crisis management in the management of tourists business

.-crisis management in the tourist receptions

※ Detailed schedule and program will be set and notified within

this year.

□□ TPO Joint Projects

1. TPO Traveler’s Discount Card System

In order to increase mutual visits of people among member cities

and support the marketing of private corporations by introducing

a discount card system in member cities, the TPO traveler’s

discount card system will be promoted as follows:

○ Outline

▷ Advertising of the TPO traveler’s discount card on the website

▷ Introducing information on discount business operations in

member cities on the website

▷ Promotional activities to vitalize TPO discount coupons and

cards

○ Requests

▷ Recruiting discount card franchise operations

◦ Please recruit a ‘TPO traveler’s card membership store’, which

can allow discounts to people who show the TPO traveler’s

card, and submit the information of the membership stores to

the secretariat.

◦ The submission form will be put on the TPO website

(www.aptpo.org).

◦ Cities already using a discount card system are requested to

consult with the current discount card business owners to

expand their service into the TPO traveler’s card system.

2. Exchanging Student Group Tour

To create a stable tourism demand and provide young students

who will lead the future with opportunities to visit member

cities, school excursion exchanges will be carried out this year.

○ Outline

▷ Selection of a travel agency in charge of this program in each

member city

▷ Making tourism programs to receive students through school

excursions

▷.Submission of arranged tourism programs to the TPO

secretariat

▷.Holding an explanatory presentation to introduce the arranged

tourism program

▷ Registration

▷ Holding an evaluation meeting after the program is finished

○ Requests:

▷ Please promote the project on the basis of the above steps and

inform the Secretariat of the results.

▷ We will send you the detailed plan separately soon.

3. Building a Network of Travel Agencies in Member

cities

The TPO Travel Agency meeting will be held and its directory

prepared for the purpose of forming the pivot to make an

industrial cluster and to create opportunities in the tourism

business through a network of travel agencies.

○ TPO Travel Agency Meeting

▷ Date: 2 November 2006 (during the TPO Forum 2006)

▷ Venue: Hangzhou, China

▷ Participants: CEOs and working-level delegates from travel

agencies in member cities

○ TPO Travel Agency Directory

▷ The directory will contain detailed information about the travel

agencies in TPO member cities and the TPO will support

mutual corporate activities among related companies.

○ Requests

▷ Your active cooperation is requested when asked to send

information on travel agencies in each member city.

▷ Please encourage as many travel agencies as possible to join

us as industry members of the TPO and to form a network of

travel agencies among member cities.

▷ Please accompany representatives of travel agencies when

you come to the TPO Forum in Hangzhou.

4. Visiting Exchange Support Program

To promote tourism of TPO cities through direct exchange of

visits to member cities, a mutual visiting support program will be

carried out.

○ Outline

▷ Participants: City and industry members planning to visit other

member cities for tourism-related activities in 2006.

▷ Application: Submission of a mutual visit program application

form and a brief activity plan to the Secretariat (program

application form will be sent shortly)

▷ Benefit: Three selected applicants will be provided with

USD2,000.

▷ Obligations of organizations that benefited: an activity report,

receipts or statements showing how the money was used

▷ Allocation of financial aid: the subsidy will be allocated after

screening the activity plans
