About the OUHKThe Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) was
established by the Government in 1989. With the
mission of providing Education for All, the University
extended its services by offering full-time Bachelor’s
Degree programmes in 2003. The University has also
joined the Joint University Programmes Admissions
System (JUPAS) since 2007.
The University’s six Schools — School of Arts and
Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business
and Administ rat ion, School of Educat ion and
Languages, School of Nursing and Health Studies,
School of Science and Technology and the Li Ka Shing
Institute of Professional and Continuing Education
— offer a range of programmes to choose from.
Most programmes are taught in English though
programmes in the Chinese medium are a l so
available. All of our programmes go through stringent
quality assurance mechanisms and are recognized by
a number of professional institutions, and a range of
exemptions have been granted to our graduates.
Cur ren t l y, the re a re ove r 9,000 s tudent s on
undergraduate programmes at the OUHK. To cope
with increasing demand for space as a result of the
rapid growth of the student population, the OUHK
has established the Jockey Club Campus to train
professionals in the cultural and creative arts, testing
and certification, and healthcare services. Also, in
face of challenges brought by an aging population,
we have started a new campus project — the OUHK
Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare (IOH) — to train up
the much-needed manpower for our society, and to
help build a healthier Hong Kong. Upon completion
in 2020, the IOH wil l house al l the University’s
existing and new health-related programmes plus a
suite of other facilities to enhance students’ learning
experiences. It will also become a health education and
community healthcare hub in the heart of Kowloon.

香港公開大學簡介香港公開大學於 1989年由香港政府創辦，以「有教無類」
為辦學宗旨。其後於 2003年開辦多個全日制本科生學位課
程；並於 2007年參加「大學聯合招生辦法」。
本校設有六個學院，分別為人文社會科學院、李兆基商業管
理學院、教育及語文學院、護理及健康學院、科技學院以及
李嘉誠專業進修學院。本校開辦的課程均經過嚴謹的質量評
審，其中大部分課程以英語教學，惟個別課程會採用中文為
教學語言。
目前，在本校修讀本科生課程的學生超過 9,000 人。為
了配合歷年學生人數高速增長，大學興建了賽馬會校園，
以培訓文化與創意藝術、檢測和認證及護理專業人才。此
外，為應付人口老化帶來的挑戰，我們正開展一項新的校
園發展計劃，興建香港公開大學賽馬會健康護理學院，培
育健康護理專才，回應社會需求。新校舍預期於 2020 年
落成，並設有完善的教學設施，以配合一系列於新大樓開
辦的健康護理相關課程，優化學生的學習體驗。落成啟用
的健康護理學院將成為九龍核心地區的護理及健康教育
樞紐。

Financial support and scholarships
Government subsidies
All our full-time undergraduate programmes are eligible
for Government subsidy, including the ‘Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors’ (SSSDP)* and the ‘Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong’ (NMTSS)*. Under SSSDP, students will be
eligible for an annual subsidy of up to HK$42,800 (non-
laboratory-based programmes) or HK$74,600 (laboratory-
based programmes); under NMTSS, the annual subsidy
amount is up to HK$32,100. For details of the subsidy

* Only local students are eligible for subsidy.
Scholarships
The University offers entrance scholarships of HK$40,000 to outstanding new students. Successful
students may be awarded HK$40,000 again in subsequent
years of study, subject to outstanding performance at the
OUHK.
A number of donated scholarsh ips and pr izes are
available for students demonstrating academic merit
or improvement. In 2018/19, a remarkable 834 OUHK
students received government scholarships totaling over HK$13 million. For more details, please visit the Students

Programmes on offer for the 2020/21 academic year
Applying through JUPASThe OUHK will offer various Bachelor’s Degree with Honours
programmes (Year 1 entry) for 2020 HKDSE candidates
through JUPAS admission.
General entry requirements
Students applying through JUPAS should normally have
attained in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education
(HKDSE) Examination results of Level 3 or above in Chinese#
and English, as well as Level 2 or above in Mathematics
(Compulsory part), Liberal Studies and an elective subject*.
# Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) applicants who have met the
specified circumstances as announced by the Education
Bureau (EDB) can use the following qualifications to replace
HKDSE Chinese Language level 3 to meet the entrance
requirement for Chinese Language:
− "Attained" or above in HKDSE Catergory B (Applied
Learning Chinese); or
− Grade E or above in GCE (A-Level / AS-Level / O-Level)
Chinese; or
− Grade E / Grade 3 or above in GCSE / IGCSE Chinese
For programmes with specific entrance requirements on the
Chinese Language proficiency, please visit www.ouhk.edu.

* 1. To apply for admission to Bachelor of Nursing with
Honours in General/Mental Health Care programme
(JSSU40/JSSU50), the elective subject should be from
Category A, preferably be a science subject (i.e. Biology,
Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, Integrated
Science) or Health Management and Social Care.
2. In admission selection, some programmes may give
higher weighting or preference to certain elective

經「大學聯合招生辦法」報名香港公開大學經「大學聯合招生辦法」（簡稱「聯招」）
為 2020香港中學文憑試考生提供多項一年級入學的榮譽
本科生課程。
一般入學資格
經「聯招」報名的學生一般需於香港中學文憑考試中國
語文科 #及英國語文科考獲 3級或以上成績，以及於數學
科（必修部分）、通識教育科和一科選修科目考獲２級或
以上成績 *。
# 如非華語申請人已符合教育局的特定情況，可以下列任何一項成
績作為代替取得香港中學文憑考試的中國語文第三級的成績，以
符合中國語文的入學要求：
– 香港中學文憑考試乙類 (應用學習中文）取得「達標」或以上
成績；或
– 普通教育文憑考試高級程度／高補程度／普通程度 (GCE
A-Level / AS-Level / O-Level）中國語文科取得 E級或以上成
績；或
– 綜合中等教育證書考試 (GCSE)／國際普通中學教育文憑考試
(IGCSE) 中國語文科取得 E級／ 3級或以上成績
個別課程對申請人的中國語文能力有較高要求，詳情請瀏覽

* 1. 申請報讀護理學榮譽學士（普通科）／（精神科）課程
（JSSU40/JSSU50）學生，所選修的科目必須為甲類科

以此為優先考慮。

Students who do not possess HKDSE qual i f icat ions
are eligible to apply for admission if they possess other
qualifications equivalent to the HKDSE. Students should
submit their applications directly to the University via
Direct Application. Apart from JUPAS programmes, the
University also offers other Higher Diploma programmes
through direct application. Holders of Higher Diploma or
Associate Degree (or equivalent) are also welcome to apply
for admission to degree programmes via senior year entry.

The Government of the HKSAR has introduced the
‘Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors
(SSSDP)’ in the 2015/16 academic year and regularized the
Scheme from the 2018/19 academic year. In the 2020/21
academic year, the University offers 1,130 subsidized
places, benefiting more local students. For details, please
visit the website at www.ouhk.edu.hk/SSSDP.
The intake places of the designated programmes under
the SSSDP are mainly al located through the Joint
University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS).
Should there be unfilled intake places after all admission
rounds of JUPAS, the SSSDP participating institution will
admit local non-JUPAS applicants via direct admission
of no more than 10% of the subsidised places of each
selected programme.
The OUHK will offer the following programmes under
SSSDP in the 2020/21 academic year*:

Internships and student activitiesThe University provides students with ample opportunities
to participate in local and offshore internships, academic
activities and competitions. Our students have made
tremendous achievements in these aspects, e.g. winning
awards and championships at conferences and competitions,
including the prestigious Golden Horse Awards.
Graduate prospectsOur degrees a re w ide l y recogn i zed loca l l y and
internationally. Many of our graduates are working in the
civil service, commerce, industry, social services, health
care and education institution sectors. Our degrees
are also recognized by other universities locally and
internationally for postgraduate studies.
According to our recent survey, close to 90% of OUHK
graduates in 2018 secured a job within six months of
graduation. The highest monthly salary was HK$50,000
and the average monthly salary was HK$17,000. These
figures are similar to those of the other universities in
Hong Kong. Many of our graduates also went on to
further studies locally and abroad.
