飄盪的爵士樂手，飄盪的靈魂

• 1950至1960年代：美國爵士樂向外商業輸出，主要前往歐洲及日本，60年代開始政治輸出，目的為宣揚國威與外交工具，多前往亞洲及中東等第三世界國家

• 1960年代末期：美國爵士樂手因搖滾樂流行發展受限，紛前往歐洲發展；歐陸樂手前往爵士首都紐約聖地錄音

• 1980年代：歐陸爵士樂逐漸形成特色，除前往非洲尋根，亦開始向外輸出

• 邁入21世紀：東西持續交流，爵士靈魂持續飄盪

《《《《A Day in the City》》》》Don Friedman Trio｜Riverside, 1961

• Don Friedman：1935年生於美國西岸舊金山，1958年移居東岸紐約，深受Bill Evans影響，但彈奏方式偏重敲擊式，比較節制少浪漫多前衛

• 個人首張專輯取材愛爾蘭民歌The Minstrel Boy，做出6段主題變奏曲，罕見全創作曲，風格近似現代音樂，並多運用古典音樂技巧

• Dave Brubeck：1920年生於美國加州Concord，原學古典，後聽老師建議改學爵士，1951年始與薩克斯風手Paul Desmod合組四重奏

• 1964年春天首次巡迴日本，“Travel

the world and keep your ears open”，援引不少日本民謠風，印象派爵士

• 行程： 1963年：貝魯特,安曼,喀布爾, 孟買, 新德里, 伊朗；1964年日本

• 自述：旅程所見衝擊感到世界整個翻轉過來，所視所感與慣常截然不同，氣味鳥語及異國風情等都是靈感來源

• 主角Rolf Kukh（1929年生）和Joachim Kuhn （1944年生）：德國兄弟檔，Rolf曾於1956年至1961年移居美國紐約發展，曲風受Benny Goodman和Buddy De Franco影響

• 專輯是1967年Rolf Kukh與樂團重返紐約時灌錄，透過四段式組曲呈現紐約印象，風格強烈，製作人Bob Thiele

• Hans Koller：1921年生於奧地利維也納，曾加入納粹，1951年移居德國慕尼黑&法蘭克福，曾和鋼琴手JuttaHipp合作，深受Lee Konitz等薩克斯風手影響，2003年因肺炎逝世。

• 1964年～1978年在德國MPS發行專輯，封面極有特色，採用自己創作抽象畫，這張專輯原為Ballet Suit

• Brad Mehldau：1970年生於美國佛羅里達，New School爵士音樂系畢業，受教Fred Hirsch，曾擔任Joshua Redman伴奏樂手，1994年自組三重奏迄今，多以trio和solo灌錄專輯

• 曲風融合古典、爵士、搖滾，這張專輯收錄1999年繁忙巡迴演出時，停留各地的思緒飛舞，洛杉磯是當時居住地，象徵旅程需要返家，其他地點：馬德里，阿姆斯特丹，佩魯西亞等

• Rue Protzer：1966年生於德國司徒加特，9歲彈吉他，1994年畢業自紐倫堡音樂學院，曾在流行音樂界闖蕩，2005年Rue De Paris發行首張專輯

• Rue De Paris樂團第2張專輯，融入紐約人文主題，選擇在Avatar錄音室灌錄，請來老紐約樂手搭檔

• Tomasz Stanko：1942年生於波蘭，自幼學鋼琴和小提琴，16歲受Miles Davis等影響改學小喇叭，50年代末突破鐵幕限制與Krzysztof Komeda合作，1962年自組波蘭第一個自由爵士樂團

• ECM後期開始與年青樂團Simple Acoustic Trio合作，這張專輯首度與多位北歐樂手搭檔，選錄多元創作題材，其中3首與紐約有關
