Chemical Application
Issued June 2012
Weatherford’s FLA 100 additive is a unique polymeric
uid-loss additive developed for nonaqueous-based mud
(NABM) drilling uids that is used as a tight uid-loss
controller at low-dosage concentrations, particularly at
elevated temperatures.
Applications
• Applicable in all types of base oils, including diesel and
low-toxicity mineral oils, as well as all synthetic oils
• Can be used on its own or in conjunction with other
ltration-control additives, such as amine lignites
and asphalts
• Supplementary effects can include boosting low shear-rate
viscosity and improving particle suspension
Usage
The product is recommended to be used at a concentration
of 0.5 to 2.1 lb/bbl (1.4 to 6 kg/m3) depending on the uid loss
control required.
Pilot-testing is recommended, as overtreatment can result in
increased viscosity. Optimal treatment concentration varies
depending upon the specic application.
Safety Notices
• Consult the MSDS, safety posters, and/or product labelbefore use, and use personal protective equipment
as advised.
• Observe standard precautions when handling this and all
other organic chemicals.
Advantages
• Provides efcient oil-based ltration control
• Micro-gel particles are easily back-produced
from the formation
• Functions at low concentration
• Contributes to suspension
• Suitable for use in all nonaqueous
formulations
• Temperature stable up to 464°F (240°C )
• Not functionally compromised by high shear
rates
• Contributes to low shear-rate viscosity and
yield point
