Campaign Update The response for support to develop a Pediatric Center at Orange Regional has been tremendous. We have raised more than $900,000 so far through the Lend A Hand For Kids

campaign. The Campaign started with our Board members, employees and physicians and will now shift emphasis beyond the Hospital. Those who already contributed will be pleased to know that the new Children’s Emergency Department opened in late January and Phase II construction will begin simultaneously adding more treatment rooms. In addition, all other objectives for the Pediatric Center’s first year plan were accomplished including hiring of Pediatric

Hospitalists and a Child Life Specialist. The Pediatric Center Implementation Team meets regularly to assure that the project stays on track over the next two years to bring advanced Pediatric services to Orange Regional. We wish to thank all contributors to the campaign and especially those who gave at the Foundation Society Level ($5,000 or greater) or above.

Chairman’s Corner It is my honor to thank and recognize all of our loyal contributors who helped to make 2013 a robust year for the ORMC Foundation. We ushered in a new capital campaign called Lend A Hand for Kids; conducted a highly successful Golf Classic; began implementation of our Strategic Plan initiatives; and increased the engagement of our Trustees and physicians in philanthropy. In new donations we raised $1,186,335; collected another $1,237, 517 in pledge payments and secured more than $50,000 in Gifts-In-Kind. Thank you again for your continued generosity and altruism.

Lights Out for Halloween Project While most of us were carving pumpkins and decorating for Halloween, ORMC’s Young Philanthropists were busy preparing a special treat for Orange Regional patients. The group wanted to cheer up patients on Halloween. The idea was conceived during the summer when the group of 13 middle and high school students decided to decorate sleep masks to present to patients on Halloween and called the project “Lights Out for Halloween”. Fundraising to pay for the masks was done collectively by the group through the sale of “Gift Tickets”

and securing business sponsorships. Then they spent hours decorating the masks with colorful paint and appliqués. On October 31, the Young Philanthropists donned in costumes, and came to ORMC to make the rounds with members of the ORMC Foundation staff. Each patient was delighted and surprised when presented with a unique gift of a beautifully decorated sleep mask given to them by a smiling young person. The outcome of this project was remarkably successful and rewarding. The Young Philanthropists felt good about

giving back to those in need and the Orange Regional patients were thrilled with the Halloween gift of a beautifully decorated sleep mask.
