CARGO NETS
with winding and spring mechanics
cargo nets
DESIGNS:
• Winding shaftThe winding shaft consists of a steel tube – diameter 42 mmwhere the spring mechanic is mounted. When mounted at theceiling the shaft is held by two angles at the front while oneside is equipped with a bearing. The winding shaft is situated 80 mm from the roof so thatthere is enough space for the rolled-up cargo net.The angles are fixed by thread plate mounted in the vehicleby means of 4 screws M 10 each so that an easy and quickdetachment is possible.By twisting the bearing journal the pulling strength can beadjusted for optimum operation.
• Tension deviceBeing completely rolled out the cargo net is tensioned on thefloor.Available lashing points have to be used to do so resp. suitablefixing points to be retrofitted. The tube fixed in loops underneaththe net makes possible a variable tensioning by means oftensioning lock (tarpaulin fastener).Other fastening devices are possible.
• Possible applications and advantagesFor vehicles with sliding tarpaulins especially for beveragetrucks it is very difficult to obtain lateral cargo control. The
different pallet dimensions cause an unacceptable and forbiddenbig hollow space. Due to the requirements when acceleratingin curves at 0.5 G the cases fall into the tarpaulin. Even ifreinforced tarpaulins are used there is still the risk of accidentcaused by falling cargo when opening the sliding tarpaulin.Bows made of wood or aluminium can be replaced by a net.The working life of a bow is rather limited due to regular fallsand strikes against the floor. This does not happen when usingcargo nets. The easy and quick handling gives an effective, comfortable and safe application. When using the lateral cargo nets a tarpaulin reinforced bystraps is possibly not necessary which saves costs.
Different versions:Reverse transport security in the vehicle industry in connectionwith slide rail is possible.
Our vast delivery programme of cargocontrol offers a variety of solutions forthe different kinds of application in thevehicle industry. Further, we are developing
systems according to your requirements.

Systems for all means of transportation with an extremely highpayload - especially regarding combined transports - have to fulfillhigh demands.WISTRA POWER Shoring Beam System has an enormous capacity. An example is the transport of standing paper reels. The tandem holetracks and the twin-fixings enable the squarepipesto turn by about 30°.
The fragile goods get in touch with a broad surface. This avoidsdamages occurring due to high pressure at small edges. For thetransport of paper reels regulation (VDI no. 2700, page 9) prescribesthe use of Anti Slip Mats.

SHORING BEAMS
SPECIAL VERSION:
The patented Shoring Beam "Power Stop" was especiallydeveloped in order to fulfill the requirements of the combinedtransport on road and rail. This combined transport is becomingmore and more important in Europe for swop bodies and othertrailers.
This special solution consists of a shoring beam being verticallyfixed and running on rollers in the track. This is granting an easyhandling and theft protection and is avoiding unintentional
removing. The shoring beam is positioned with the help of holetracks fixed on the floor and at the ceiling.
Up to four "Power Stops" can be used in a standard swop bodypositioned parallely as well as staggered. This new solution issuitable to fix the WISTRA cargo net " " due to itsrobust design. If the shoring beam "Power Stop" is not used itcan be lifted up and locked under the running rail.

DECKING BEAMSDOUBLE DECK SYSTEMS
PERFORMANCE
WISTRA decking beams are produced of high-fast aluminiumprofiles 66 x 84 mm. Due to the high load capacity the deckingbeams can be used for backwards safeguarding of the goodsas well as for a second deck. The toothed surface of the profilegrants a safe standing of for example EURO-pallets.
Decking beams are produced with different endfittings whichcan be fixed in lashing tracks or wall panels. In combination with guiding rails they can also be used as doubledecking system. They can be used telescopic so that they meetan extensive range of possibilities for the internal width of avehicle or container etc.
For safety and stability the telescope can be restricted limitedwith an additional assembly part.
WISTRA double decking systems are produced for different sortsof lashing tracks and can be fixed at various heights. In case thesliding decking beams are not in use they can be fixed underthe ceiling.
The safety feature for pallets can be added to the decking beams. The handling is easy. The pallet has to be pushed over the profileso that it can be placed formfitting and is safe in lengthwaysdirection.

GUIDING TRACKS
PERFORMANCE:
Guiding tracks for sliding decking beams are principally usedvertically for double deck systems adjustable in height. The fittedtracks show an overall height of only 12 mm.
For optimal utilization of internal height the distance betweenlower edge of grid hole and theroof to be 65 mm. Duringinstallation of the tracks a freespace (clearance) of 75 mm to thefloor resp. baseboard is necessaryor to choose the track withcountersinking.

SAFETY FEATURES FOR PALLETSFOR DECKING BEAMS
64
Even when you are loading goods which are not stackable,Double Decking Systems allow loading pallets on the seconddeck. In this case the Decking Beams are used as carrier and safetyfeature for the pallets.
Because of little space it might be possible that under certain
circumstances in the door area only one Decking Beam can beplaced.According to the arrangement of the pallets (in driving directionor transverse) 2 or 3 safety features per beam are necessary.Wistra safety features for pallets for decking beams are aneconomical and safe possibility to prevent the pallets from slidingdown.

Legal basisStVO §§ 22, 23 StVZO §§ 30, 31HGB §§ 412 VDI guidelineDIN EN 12195-2 UVV BGV D 29 – Vehicles
Physical basisWeightFG(N) = m(kg) x a (m7s2)( 1 daN = 10 N )Mass-forces affect the load during transportation by road, railand on water. During road transportation, forces in the directionof travel of 0.8 FG can occur, especially during braking procedures.
Friction forceFR (N) = μ x FG (N)Friction force FR counters load displacement and is dependenton material coupling.
Sliding friction values
The use of anti-slip mats to raise friction values is recommended, especially during tying down.
Means of transportationSuitabilityA vehicle suited to the load should be used. Vehicle superstructuresmust be equipped so that the load is secured or can be securedagainst impermissible slipping, toppling, rolling, rotation or fallingand in the case of tankers, against leakage.
Distribution of loadThe load must be stowed so that the centre of gravity of theoverall load is located as much as possible over the longitudinalmiddle axis of the vehicle. The centre of gravity should be keptas low as possible. The load distribution layout must be compliedwith (request from vehicle or superstructure manufacturer ifnecessary).
Lashing pointsRequirement areas and purpose are set down in DIN 75 410“Lashing points on utility vehicles for the transportation ofgoods”. Lashing points are anchorages for load-restraint deviceson the vehicle, such as oval links, hooks, eyes and lashing rails.
Loaded goodsIt is a requirement that the packaging or the lashing points usedon the load are capable of bearing the forces provoked by therespective securing method and during operation under normaltraffic conditions (these include full braking, change manoeuvresand poor roads).
Securing the loadIf no opportunity for securing the load is provided by the vehiclesuperstructure alone, then suitable means of assistance shouldbe deployed.
Gravity-activated restraintWhen tying down using lashing straps, lashing cords and lashingchains, the securing force is generated by increasing the frictionforce. The required lashing forces should be ascertained. Sharpedges must be covered in order to prevent damage to the load-restraint device.
Form-locked restraintCollision of the loaded goods with front or lateral walls / stakesor even against load securing devices is understood as formlocking. The superstructure or load-restraint device used mustbe able to take the forces resulting from the load.
Combined restraintForm-locked and gravity-activated restraint methods can becombined to achieve the required restraint forces.
CalculationThe calculation of effective forces is described in VDI 2702“Lashing capacities” or in DIN EN 12195-1 ”Calculation oflashing capacities” (draft).

Risk situationsThe loosening of loads or parts of the load due to improper loadrestraint presents direct or indirect danger for the life of persons, animals or goods in the risk area of the vehicle (see also EN12195-2 Appendix A).Practical indications on the use and maintenance oflashing straps according to EN 12 195-2 Appendix B( normative )
B.1 The required traction together with the usage type andthe type of load to be lashed must be taken into accountwhen selecting and using lashing straps. The size, shapeand weight of the load determine the correct selection, but also the intended usage type, the transportationenvironment and the type of load. For reasons of stability,at least two lashing straps must be used for tying downand two pairs of lashing straps for diagonal lashing.
B.2 The selected lashing strap must be both strong and longenough for the intended use and be of the correct lengthwith regard to the lashing type. It is always good lashingpractice to consider: the attachment of removal of thelashing straps should be planned before the journeycommences. Partial unloading should be taken into accountduring a longer journey. The number of lashing straps mustbe calculated according to prEN 12195-1:1995. Only thoselashing systems which are designed for tying down, withS TF on the label, should be used for tying down.
B.3 Due to varying behaviour and due to length changes understress, varying load-restraint devices (e.g. lashing chainsand lashing straps made of chemical fibres) must not beused to lash the same load. If additional fitting parts andlashing devices are used, care must be taken to ensurethat these are appropriate for the lashing strap.
B.4 During use, flat hooks (see D2 in Figure 1) must lie on topof the hook base in their entire width.
B.5 Opening the tie-down: Before opening, it should be ensuredthat the load remains fast even without restraint andcannot fall down and endanger the person unloading. Ifnecessary, load-securing devices planned for further trans-portation should be attached to the load beforehand, inorder to prevent the load from falling down and / ortoppling. This also applies if tensioning elements are usedthat enable safe removal.
B.6 Before unloading begins, the tie-downs must be loosenedsufficiently to free the load.
B.7 Attention must be paid to the proximity of any low-hangingoverhead cables during loading and unloading.
B.8 The materials from which lashing straps are produced havevarying resistance to chemical effects. The manufacturer’sor supplier’s indications must be complied with if thelashing straps are likely to be exposed to chemicals. Indoing so, it must be taken into account that the effects ofthe chemical influence increase as temperatures rise.
The resistance of synthetic fibres to chemical effectsis summarised in the following:
a) Polyamides are resistant against the effect of alkalis. However, they are attacked by mineral acids.
b) Polyester is resistant against mineral acids, but is attackedby leachates.
c) Polypropylene is rarely attacked by acids and leachatesand is suitable for applications where high resistanceagainst chemicals (except for a number of organicsolvents) is required.
d) Harmless acid or leachate solutions can become soconcentrated due to evaporation that they cause damage.Contaminated lashing straps must be decommissionedimmediately, rinsed in cold water and air dried.
B.9 Lashing straps in accordance with this section of EuropeanNorm EN 12195 are suitable for use in the followingtemperature ranges:
a) - 40 °C to + 80 °C for polypropylene (PP)b) - 40 °C to + 100 °C for polyamide (PA)c) - 40 °C to + 120 °C for polyester (PES)
These temperature ranges can change dependingon the chemical environment. In this event, therecommendations of the manufacturer or suppliershould be obtained.

A change in ambient temperature during transpor-tation can have an effect on the force in thewebbing. The lashing capacity must be checkedfollowing arrival in warm regions.
B.10 Lashing straps must be decommissioned or sent back tothe manufacturer for repair if they show signs of damage. The following points should be considered as signs ofdamage:
- in the case of webbings (which must be decommissioned):tears, cuts, indentations and breakages in the load-bearingfibres and seams, distortions due to the influence of heat;- in the case of terminal brackets and tensioning elements:distortions, tears, strong signs of wear and corrosion.
Only lashing straps that display identifying labelsmay be repaired. In the event of accidental contactwith chemicals, the lashing strap must be decom-missioned and the manufacturer or supplier mustbe consulted.
B.11 Care must be taken to ensure that the lashing strap is notdamaged by the edges of the load to which it is attached.A regular visual check before and after every use is recom-mended.
B.12 Only lashing straps that are legibly identified and providedwith labels must be used.
B.13 Lashing straps must not be overloaded: the maximumhand force of 500 N (50 daN on label; 1 daN approx. 1kg) must only be applied with one hand. No mechanicalaids such as rods or levers etc. should be used, unlessthese are part of the tensioning element.
B.14 Knotted lashing straps must not be used.
B.15 Damage to labels must be prevented by keeping themaway from the edges of load and, if necessary, from theload.
B.16 Webbings must be protected against friction and abrasionand against damage due to loads with sharp edges bymeans of protective covers and/or edge protectors.
