What Is IPTV ?Simple Definitions> 1) IPTV is the term used for the

transmission of TV over IP> 2) IPTV is a set of services delivered to

the TV by a broadband service provider as a managed service

> Physical device at the subscriber is called a STB (Set-Top-Box)

> Multiple STBs at a typical house> Underlying protocol is IGMP and IP

Multicast> Video stream is being sent using

MPEG- 2 or 4 compression> Traffic reaching the subscriber via

xDSL, Cable, PON, or even WiMax
