協作的合適環境• 小組中的參與者必須用有不同背景與專業。• 參與者必須有機會自行探索資訊而不受其他人影響。• 參與者必須要有能力評估所發現的資訊，而不仰賴組內其他人的諮詢。• 必須要有匯聚所有人貢獻的方法，進而達成共同的目標。

定義與概念• Foster(2006) 在資訊科學與技術年度評論

(ARIST) 認為協作資訊尋求是研究個人和他人合作資訊的尋求、搜尋，和檢索時，所利用的系統與過程。• Shah(2009) 表示協作資訊尋求是一個資訊尋求的過程。由明確的參與者、互動與內在利益所組成，同時包含資訊分享，進而使在小組中的成員對於獲取資訊有一致的共識。

定義與概念• 協作資訊尋求是一個研究領域，和各類型的小組協作資訊尋求的學習情境、動機和方法有關，也涉及建置相關的協作資訊尋求系統，以支持協作資訊尋求的各項活動，這些活動可能是進行一項複雜的任務，藉由不同小組人員的參與，加上彼此擁有不同的技能與角色，進而在內外部的互動之下獲得共同的利益。 (吳美美， 2012 ； Shah, 2014)
