Lesson Plan
Session 1 Before class 1:40 pm – 1:45 pm
Task: T talks with Ss, asks Ss to put their names on name tags, gives disciplinary instructions to Ss, and gets a rough idea about each S’s language capability.
Disciplinary instructions: (See Appendix IIII)

Lesson Plan
Session 2 Class
Part 1 1:45 pm – 1:50 pm
Task: Ice breaking; Get Ss into groups.
Learners do: Listening, Speaking
Procedure: 1. T introduces herself briefly.
2. T shows a picture of panda (pic 1) to Ss, asks Ss what it is, and initiates Ss’ interest in China and Chinese language.
3. T, via the last step, finds out two Ss who have relatively stronger language capability than the average. T assigns the two Ss team leaders and gives them a team logo.
4. T randomly distributes team logos. Ss who get the same logo belong to a team.
Tip: - In this part, T needs to be careful in distributing team logos. According to Ss’ performance, T should try the best to evenly group lower-level students with fluent students so that they can get enough peer support in learning and team work.
- Pinyin in this part for panda is to provide pronunciation help to students not as a learning task. Students are supposed to form a general and initial impression of pinyin through this step.

Part 2 1:50 pm – 2:05 pm
Task: SWBAT - know basic expression of Olympics in Chinese
- know the expression of sports related verbs “jump, run” as well as some basic daily verbs “sit, walk”
- follow the action when T calls a verb
- say the verb when T does an action
- pronounce correctly the sentence pattern of “…zài ….” (Somebody is …ing …)

Part 3 2:05 pm – 2:15 pm
Task: SWBAT- answer on their own to each action order
- have a deeper and clearer understanding of the four verbs and their corresponding actions.
- react to the phrase “…zài…” when T calls somebody and uses this expression (for higher level students)
